Blacklock’s- Ask MPs To Permit Digital ID
“To modernize and support enhanced passenger experience we ask that the government endorse system-wide border and screening modernization including immediate regulatory changes,” Toronto’s Pearson International Airport wrote in a committee submission. It recommended amendments to Secure Air Travel Regulations to “enable digital ID to be recognized.”
Regulations currently require that domestic passengers over age 18 carry government-issue photo ID like a passport or driver’s license. Pearson Airport managers sought “a comprehensive set of regulations to enable digital ID and biometrics.”
…and the horse you rode in on.
And to think that when the Social Insurance Numbers were introduced, people were worried about them becoming your personal serial number. Perhaps they could just tattoo it on your forehead.
The man who abandons freedom for government security ends up with neither.
That contemptible man will also demand you abandon your freedom for his government security.
I encountered that man in May of 2021.
When I Joined the Canadian Armed Forces in 1969, our military identification was our Social Security Number. I used that number till I got out in 1979. This continued for a number of years.
Why do I get this sinking feeling when the perfect reason to get Canadians to do something is threaten their travel. And they get digital ID because after all it’s “easier”.
Canadian’s are Hamsters in a cage and they don’t even know it.
There will be no “enhanced passenger experience” with digital ID; that’s just another BS line that sounds good but never materializes, with the experience often becoming worse.
