  4. The fact that the evidence found points exactly and so obviously at a group who conservative Republicans have long standing issues with concerns me a bit. If the shooting was a foreign government or domestic group looking to create civil discord and chaos in the USA then that’s precisely what it would do. It makes me somewhat suspicious.

    If it turns out that the shooter was in fact part of transgender movement then the assignation of Charlie Kirk will mark the end of this political movement. Any remaining support they have with moderates will completely disappear. With the amount of misogyny, mental instability and violence within the radical transgender movement that is likely the inevitable outcome. They’re a completely unhinged from reality social/political group.

        1. I had the same thought when I read about the too convenient etchings on the brass. It could have come from some otherwise messed up individual who wanted to blame the trans people but at this stage anything is possible.

      1. I wasn’t really commenting on politics or social issues. I’m certainly not a fan of lenient crime policies for violent offenders or mass immigration. I think the trans movement has dangerous elements of misogyny, mental instability and violence…and they should leave children alone completely.

        I’m only saying to be careful when evidence reinforces your opinions so completely. Rarely are situations that simple and be aware that there might be more to the story.

      1. Part of the indie music scene, the only thing of note might be some people claiming to be affiliated with Order of the Nine Angles referencing their music, which could be something or nothing (not like that crowd doesn’t like weird music).

        I’m interested in the rifle as well, not really your average firearm in this day and age. Granted, they are good firearms, but rather atypical brand — not like there aren’t plenty of good 30-06 from domestic brands that could have easily done the job and also would have been a bit more inconspicuous.
        (for reference, yes Mauser = rifle of the Wehrmacht, although wrong type, but it was also the rifle of the Haganah….and not something the typical American hunter is generally packing around.)

        That’s why I’m trending towards this being accelerationists, just like the Catholic school shooter was found to be spouting accelerationist things in his journal/manifesto/whatever.

  8. I would like to read/hear some experts discuss the 200 yard shot from a roof top.
    That seems professional to me.
    I won’t say there aren’t a lot of non-professionals who can make that shot, just that somebody needs to train and be in a high level of control.
    Or maybe psychos have that control by design.

      A hunting rifle with a scope.
      It’s not hard to find remote places to practice shooting.
      200 yards is not that far to target, or to accomplish, especially Center of mass.
      Not an unusual distance for deer/moose hunting,
      Anyone with a modicum of ability could be a reasonable shot at that distance with a little practice.
      That said, all leads, no matter how remote, must be explored, as one cannot tell, in the immediate aftermath, what is subterfuge and what is correct.

        Same here. A profession would hit him leaving his home or office, or stopped at a traffic light on his way to church. Or at his lawyer’s office…or at the doctor. Anywhere but a rally with hundreds of people and dozens of security cameras. He sure as hell would not be caught on camera, nor would he simply drop his rifle in the woods.

      It’s very possible that with a solid prone position and good rifle with scope, the shooter was taking a head shot and hit low because of the distance and angle.

      1. My thoughts as well. A neck shot from that distance shows higher skill than average. Elevation drop alone at 3000 fps would be about 3 inches.

      2. Actually it’d be the other way around. Likely he was aiming center mass and hit high (in the neck). When shooting on an angle you have to factor distance over the ground and not the raw distance a range finder would provide. Subsequently, your aim would need to be lower.

        What’s more interesting is how he got up on the roof in the first place, and how he managed to get away afterward.

    3. Yeah, I’m not a great shot but when I go to the range I can hit the target pretty easily at 200m with a scope on the hunting rifle. This doesn’t exclude a professional shooter but it doesn’t exclude a reasonably knowledgeable novice either.

        I guess I can imagine hitting a zombie in the head from 200 yards.
        Or even a WWII Gestapo Officer – in a video game.
        Maybe I’m missing something, but shooting a person in the head at an event full of people is something different – at least to me – than a paper target or a deer.

        1. Different for sane, ethical, moral people, not for the type of people we’re talking about. That’s why they are so dangerous. Even the crowd there wouldn’t have bothered that sort of person, killing one of them, while less impactful would still have made a statement.

  10. I was directing a video shoot in a remote location when Charlie Kirk was shot. The videographer got a text alert from a friend and shared it with me.

    I got out my phone to see what was being said on Twitter, and in addition to the usual flood of inaccurate reports and “pray for Charlie” posts, there was a torrent of ghoulish, gloating posts like the one below:

    I don’t follow any of these people, or know who they are, but they were legion, and all of them were smug, triumphant, preening, and morally superior.

    There is an ideological sickness in our society, and this is very dangerous. People are not only pleased and titillated by violence against people they disagree with, but are full of self-righteousness satisfaction. They want to see it continue.

    This is the mindset that fueled the reign of terror, the cultural revolution, pogroms, and the holocaust. We must confront it and excise it from our culture.

  12. In the briefing they said this dude got up on the roof around 11:52 and shot Charlie Kirk at 12:10. There’s zero chance he just showed up yesterday and decided where to go. He had to have cases it out before or was a student at the school. He must have gone up on that roof before too. Surely there has to be some video without sunglasses on of him doing that.

    1. Only a matter of time. As you can see from the photo he’s walking around without gloves. There is, supposedly over an hour of footage from CCTV cameras following this guy around before he took the shot. Ever walk around for over and hour and not touch anything? That’s a lot of places to secure fingerprints (not counting the unspent ammo in the found weapon). And, while ANTIFA seems to elude prosecution a lot of the time. It doesn’t mean there isn’t a wealth of fingerprint data on file from the initial arrest prior to DA involvement.

      Word is they know who it is. The guy is local, in his 20’s, and the authorities just cancelled their press conference due to developing news. They likely have him, or know where he is.

    2. James – there is so many unanswered questions and to me the waters appear to be getting muddy. How did he get onto the roof ? There is similarity to the Trump as both were attempted head shots. They were only inch(s) from missing Charlie. There is questions about a jet arriving at an airport 5 minutes away. That rifle has to be well sighted in to be that accurate at 200 yards. It takes a particular type of human to remain calm while aiming at that target. They also had a well planned escape route and the physical training to implement it . Hard to believe he achieved this without help ,undetected. Bottom line ,we actually know SFA . I fear that may be the end result.

        1. Latest info is 130m shot. The recovered rifle is a bolt action 30-06 with a scope. Very easy shot from that distance with that kind of rifle. And the caliber of the rifle is very lethal, something you could shoot a moose with.

  13. I had a similar thought james. The rifle was found in a wooded area, so he did not drop it on the roof and flee.
    So he would have been carrying it when he fled.
    So if they have images of the alleged shooter without the rifle, they must be before the shot was taken.
    So if they have images going in, I would think they should have images with him carrying the rifle going out?
    Why not show those as well.
    What are the odds that the alleged shooter is found dead via “self inflicted” gunshot.
