Jay Goldberg- Carney clearly oversold himself to voters
According to the Department of Finance, the federal government brought in a jaw-dropping $1.5 billion more in tariff revenue in April and May of this year than April and May of 2024, reflecting the impact of the counter tariffs the Trudeau and later Carney governments imposed on the United States. That means Canadian consumers shelled out an additional $1.5 billion over the span of just two months to purchase goods coming in from the United States.

Some of us knew full well that Marx Carnage was waaaay oversold. But enough chicken-dancing Canuckleheads voted for the fraud anyway. Liberal/NDP voters need to be stripped of their franchise. Those gormless morons are directly responsible for this country going down the tubes.
Kanadians will just have to chant “Elbows Up!” louder and harder. Oh, and keep on doing the chicken dance thingy.

aka merely another pathway for cash to get vacuumed out of the wallets and bank accounts of the ones . . . . . . . . . . . . . . who voted for iiiiiiiiiitt !!!
Et tu, Pee-pee? Que pensez-tu?
He’s still reformulating Liberal talking points, so they sound like his own.
There’s nothing like having a Uniparty to have a cohesive anti-American messaging.
“He’s still reformulating Liberal talking points, so they sound like his own.”
100%. Nowhere near a ‘conservative’ in any way.
Speaking of unaffordable prices …
I noticed the ‘Teeters’ ad at the bottom of the page … advertising boneless New York strip steaks for $9.99/lb. Here is my local Safeway advertisement for bone-in New York strip steaks at $23.99/lb
https://www.safeway.com/shop/product-details.188020009.html
So … I get the privilege of paying more than DOUBLE what you do for retail beef … with a sizable amount of that paying for bone. In my 30% more valuable BEEG American dollars which means I am paying $23.99/lb US -vs- $7.00/lb US + boneage. Yes, I pay more than 3x for my New York strip steaks than you do. 4x more if you include the boneage …
Yeah … boneage. I’m getting the boneage right up the arsehole from Bidenflation… which hasn’t gone away. At all. And you wonder why I complain that I can’t afford to eat beef anymore …?
I don’t think that Teeters ad is Canadian. They spelled neighbourhood wrong and all the weights are in lbs.
However, kudos to you for typing arsehole instead of asshole. 🙂
I was even prouder of using … boneage.
Is arsehole a Hoserism?
Like Jesus Murphy?
Some etymological fun! I laughed me ass roit off, eh?
The word arse in English derives from the Proto-Germanic word *arsaz, meaning “buttocks” or “backside”. The combined form arsehole is first attested from 1500 in its literal use to refer to the anus. In Old English, Latin anus was glossed with earsðerl, literally “arse-thrill,” with thrill (n.) in its original sense of “hole”. The word arsehole is a variation of earlier arshole, from Middle English arcehoole, equivalent to ass + hole. The word asshole is a 20th-century American English variant of arsehole.
I look forward to seeing Wellington St. renamed to … earsðerl … thoroughfare. Since your government appears to like that … kind of … thoroughfare.
Since you’re changing all your street signs to word jumbles and pronunciation marks
Yeah, Kenji, and then there is L.A. where freaks wear dick socks and nothing else and stroll down the former hippy streets. If you go down to San Francisco, be sure to wear a buttplug and beware.
But I LOVE the RHCP’s! Hint: they didn’t actually NEED tube socks of that *ahem* calf-length size.

Didn’t know Jesus Murphy was a hoserism. Around here it was Hairy F’ n Jesus.
My Newf buddy came out with “By the sacred f”n snatch of mary” last summer. Lightning scorched his arse.
Lol.
I like the maritime expression to leave well enough alone…
“Let ‘er lie where Jesus flang her.”
Harris Teeter website shows locations all along the US east coast.
But I did get some nice prime rib roasts at Freson Bros. for 14.99/lb this weekend.
The Harris Teeter chain has 262 grocery stores in the South. The ad must be attached to the online version of the Winnipeg Sun and not in the actual newspaper. Note that pounds in grocery stores in Canada are common and kilograms rare. The label might have kilograms while signage and ads are normally in pounds. Brian Mulroney became prime minister in 1984 partially by guaranteeing that metric would not be forced on people. It’s coming slowly although my kids still use pounds and inches. Their kids likely won’t.
The ad was in lbs. … however I need a VIC card for that sale price. I’m sure Stevie or many of my other CA friends will lend me their VIC #
Harris Teeter? Makers of the famous Harris Teeter Tater Tots?
Kenji, prices are all over the map, here and in the US.
Here, typical sirloin at Costco is $37/kg, $16/lb. I can get it on sale at Thriftys for 9/lb AAA, or other AA elsewhere for $8 on sale. Though, Costco is a nice thick cut.
I just got AAA Strip at StupidStore for $12/lb on sale. It was pretty good, surprisingly.
Regular price is over $20/lb.
I was just in Honolulu, and got Prime Rib steaks for $9/lb at Safeway on their July 4th sale. We loaded up for our 2 weeks. Regular, it was 20ish a lb.
Beef is up everywhere. Smaller herds they say, due to ‘drought’. The higher prices should be encouraging ranchers to have bigger herds, in years to come.
In the meantime, I suspect beef moving between our countries will be negligible, because Orangeman Bad. I don’t see it impacting the already silly prices.
$8/lb ground. $6/lb lips and assholes (wieners/smokies). It’s retarded.
Kenji, I thought you made a killing on the stock market when seller panic over tariffs hit. You’ve bragged about that often enough. Surely you can now afford high steak prices.
Different pot of money. I don’t use my investment funds for basic daily consumables. That pot of money is for FUTURE needs.
However … I’ve now convinced myself that I could almost afford to go on a beef eating TOUR of Canada … starting with some Kelowna steaks … swinging thru QuickDickland … for the cost of SF Bay Area beef prices.
BTW Dow UP 585 points today, Nasdaq UP 403 … S&P UP 92 … thanks for asking. So sorry … Friday’s Aug. 1 selloff in response to FAKE government economic data and Tariff PANIC … didn’t age well.
Speaking of beef, the US and Canadian beef industry is highly integrated. So what’s happening now?

As for the reasons for a standoff, the reasons are obvious but unspoken.
Trump is a pretty cagey guy and he doesn’t show his hand, but as far as I can see it’s pretty clear that in his eyes, due to political drift Canada has become a threat to United States in many different ways.
The US admin understands Canadian politics and political structure of Canada far better than most Canadians. We are as a nation completely unconscious of the underlying structures both legal and financial that are the legacy of our curious relationship with Britain.
Trump has given lots of hints, and he is now treating Canada as a foreign threat or adversary and as such does not want to be dependent on Canada for anything.
His suggestion that Canada become a 51st state was a hint, not a literal suggestion. It was a hint to realign our politics before he finds it find it necessary to divorce our economies.
He said the US does not need us and that is a fact and everything that a Carney is doing is making the situation worse rather than better.
Did Trump know that was gonna happen in advance when he boosted Carney over PP?
I think Trump’s at least 10 moves ahead of all of us.
“Canada has become a threat to United States in many different ways.”
Say no more. Say no more.
“Trump is a pretty cagey guy”
Yeah, agreed, but our dumbed down nation is told to believe that he is:
Insane
Crazy
A Bulleeeeeeee
Stupid
Incompetent
Etc, etc, etc.
Everybody keeps making the same mistake with Trump.
Vastly underestimating his intelligence, his strategy and his resolve.
His strategy, publically, results in the name calling. Bluster and Bravado have worked for decades for him and still does. It distracts and deflects his opponents into a madness. One would think they would catch on eventually, but, lack of intelligence on their part, and their prejudices, prevent clear, sane, common sense from being applied.
It’s so much easier for them to give in to their base instincts. Distracted and obsessed.
To compare, look at Switzerland. They’ve been caught off guard, are in shock, and sensing from the article I read, are in a bit of panic.
They Get It. They know they have to make a deal or else they will economically suffer. They need to get it done.
OTOH, Canada is in denial. They think they are equals to the US and acting as if it’s the US is the country that will suffer inordinately. A compliant obedient media assists in this magical narrative. Given the incompetence of Carney and his minions, I spect a drawn out affair, unemployment going into the mid-teens, the Arctic Peso towards 60 cents, and a 100 Billion deficit, before cracks start to appear in the Liberal Titanic.
Trump doesn’t suffer fools. He will be in NO rush to engage our Idiots. Not after their HugAPali statehood mis-step. That was a complete and total screwup.
Carnage and his minions have NO IDEA what is coming, it’s nothing good.
They still haven’t figured out the US doesn’t care. Period. The US has options to cancel out Canada. It’s going to get ugly.
And don’t count on PePe. He’s doing his best Elbows Up imitation of a Liberal. Zero confidence there in his horrible messaging and strategy.
I’ve been telling people to not pay serious attention to what he says, watch closely what he does.
He’s playing to the media and his base, but doing what he needs to do to meet his goals. Actions do speak louder than words.
Most look at me like I’m crazy. (I am, but even still……………..)
Kenji, Canadian markets were closed today, looking forward to tomorrows opening.
Yup, we’re the crazy ones, because CBC and CTV are the ultimate arbiter so of THE TRUTH, and obedient sheeple do what they are told.
So, when they are given an alternate position, of different facts, they suffer from cognitive dissonance.
“That’s what the NEWS SAID!” is usually the response. They will never figure it out. This is the same group of sheep that believe:
Convoy bad.
Covid Quackzine good.
Liberal love affair
Conservatives cut cut cut
Socialism good
More government good.
Etc, etc, etc.
We live in a lost country of simpletons, suffering brain damage from the Quackxine.
Carney is as full of shit as his black-faced idiot predecessor.
He’s given us his own version of balance the budget from the heart out.
Dickhead.
So, another way to look at things is just to remove the US altogether as a trading partner of Canada’s.
What would happen then?
Well, we’d be marooned and doomed to poverty and quickly thereafter, disintegration.
The rest of the world would move in like vultures.
Or use a different metaphor – imagine our climate without the sun.
Most Canadians are stupid bastards.
The rest of the world MIGHT want “to move in like vultures,” but the U.S. would get there first. We like Canadians. At some point we will rescue the sane parts from the Libranos.
