‘My friends, watch out for the Khalistani sympathizer in the yellow turban.’

Toto, I have a feeling we’re not in Mouseland * anymore.

So let’s talk about the sad spectacle that just unfolded in Ottawa today, where interim NDP leader Don Davies—yes, Don Davies, a name you probably haven’t heard since Jagmeet Singh’s socialist train wreck finally derailed—stood in front of the Canadian press and tried to convince the country that the New Democratic Party still matters. Spoiler alert: they don’t.

This was not a press conference. It was a whimpering plea from a party that got obliterated at the ballot box, reduced to just seven seats. That’s right—seven. You could fit the entire NDP caucus into a single minivan and still have room for snacks. And yet, here’s Davies babbling about how the NDP is somehow going to hold the “balance of power” in Parliament. Delusional doesn’t even begin to cover it.

  1. Let’s face it, JugHead sacrificed his Party for his Pension. End of story, nothing to see here.
Canadian’s are on the hook for Jimmy Dhaliwal’s easy living.

    1. Even though the people of Burnaby South fired him for cause, he still gets $140,300 in severance to go with his pension.

No MP should ever get severance, nor should they ever be allowed to vote on their own pay and benefit packages.

    2. thats the least of the sacrifice. he sacrificed the will of a huge portion of the nation to get turdeau (not just Liberals) OUT of the PMO.
feel free to add to the list. the election clobbering was just a consequence of a whole LOT of socialistic/nihilistic sacrifices.
the simplest interpretation is however he shytcanned the ndp for that precious pension. as such those within the party that picked him, those within the party who figured this could happen but CLAMMED UP when they got him for *their* personal selfish reason haul away lots of the blame too.
heyo mute ndp FORMER backbencher kinda looks like the short term strategy blew up in yer face eh? boo hoo hoo and ha ha ha.

      1. I am NOT going to be popular for posting this, but Jagmeet Singh played Canadian politics to perfection. I agree with many here about the obscene pay and pensions and I did not know about severance pay, but he DID play out the last few years to his benefit and isn’t that what all politicians do.
I think Stephen Harper, Donald Trump and now Pierre Polievre are political anomalies, in that they are trying to have a better, more prosperous Canada (at least that is my perspective). Sadly, I think most Canadians have the attitude of “What’s in it for me?”

  2. Tell me again about the mini-van. And what kind of snacks. I’m loving this story.

    1. Oh noes! They ran out of gas on a railroad crossing! They are now all arguing which running dog capitalist is responsible for failing to refuel the van and they don’t hear the train coming….

      1. The van has the following emblem on its side panel:

MAID – My Annihilated India Democrats

  3. // Self-Inflicted Collapse //
While acknowledging the blogger’s air of certainty, to characterize the results as
“self-inflicted” is to ignore the present wild political context & that there is a long-standing
practice of vote-switching among centre-left Canadians. “Liberal”, “New Democrat” and “Party Quebec”
all do this to some extent.
And to predict the future fate is really unmerited pride. The New Democrats have lost official status before.

    1. Suck it.
The Idiot Party was buttfucked by Juthtin – What An Asshole – Trudeau and his band of hardcore neo-Marxists.
Now they’re just blood and shit in the toilet that is Parliament.
Nobody is switching back to the Party of Stupid.
      Ever.
Next election they’ll be flushed out of existence.

  4. Actually, the NDP do hold the balance of power. The bloc and conservatives cannot bring down the government without the NDP. That’s the reality of our system. They are reduced to 7 but they are not insignificant.

    1. Seems math is hard for some people. The NDP will have significant influence. It is however unlikley their financial position will entice them to cause a quick election. Of course Carny can always appease the Block to maintain power. It is fortunate that despite the vote counting manipulations , it appears Elizabeth will not have the deciding vote. I think to a large extent the CPC were victims of their own success. It was easy for NDP supporters to choose to vote Liberal as Jagmeet was not compelling and they considered PP the Canadian Trump. As well the Greens chose not to run canidates where it could impact a Liberal win. Of course the 51rst state comments and tariff talk greased the slide.

      1. Seems math is hard for some people. Majority government requires 172 seats. Liberals won 169 seats. The 7 NDP seats can prop up this government for a full term. The Liberals don’t need the bloc. But I’ve wasted enough of my evening dealing with the contemporary intellect.

      2. Reality would seem to indicate otherwise. The parliament could grant the NDP official status which would let them hire back some of their laid off staff, etc. but shit eating grin MacKinnon said “no”. They told the NDP to go and self impregnate. Without refunds of campaign expenses in so many ridings, the NDP is financially screwed, so the Liberals have read the room and know the NDP will support them anyway, anything else is MAID.
When the economy really goes south and the Liberals are in danger, then they will buy the NDP support. No need to waste their gratitude when they don’t need it.

  5. When 75% of Canadians wanted new elections the NDP stood with the Liberals and committed hari kari. Dogmeat’s pension was more important than the wishes of Canadians.

    1. I think they made a huge mistake getting rid of Mulcair. He would have been a much more effective counter to Trudeau, and I think their party would have grown as a result. Still — not sorry they are much diminished this time.

      1. That was indeed the critical moment, Linda. The NDP still had some relevance with Mulcair. There was some policy consistency that resonated with many Canadians. But Jughead turned a gradual slow decline into a head-long plunge off a cliff. The Dippers who conspired to overthrow Mulcair have received their just reward in political annihilation.

  6. It’s unfortunate the NDP won’t be taking 20% of the general vote in the foreseeable future, as the Conservatives could be the governing party if they’d (the NDP had..) taken a few points from the #Libranos.

I don’t feel sorry for the NDP nor their likely loss of an airplane in the next election and funding until then. It’s comforting for me to see that their leader trashed the business for his own pension. That mindset may come in handy in the next election, to point out the NDP took personal gold to forsake the team’s power.

Nice. Just as so many other socialists around the globe have done.

  7. Wow! What a piece of coherent, readable, prose. A verbal beatdown in the style of Kurt Schlichter.

” Buddy, you lost. You got wrecked. Your voters walked. That’s not a technicality. That’s called democracy.”

YES! Nailed it! And your NDP reminds me a bit of the old-guard, RINO Republicans who are lapdog Democrats kissing Democrat Ass like a newly transitioned Drag Queen named Likkity Split. They’re both GONE. Kicked to the curb by REAL people … REAL voters … too BIG to rig. Congrats Canadian voters … well except for all you gray-haired, wrinkly, soon to be MAIDed, boomer womyn.

    What an enjoyable read.

  8. Voters may have left that Party but they didn’t go far, they voted for the Party in power which is just as left.

    1. The Liberals just as left?? Please. The Liberals have no ideology save power, they are the proxy by which the Laurentian Elite maintains it’s power and the policy is whatever they say it is. Recent history confirms as much, under Chretien and Martin, the Liberals reduced deficits, added surplus and paid down debt. Under Trudeau they blew it all up. This is the same party, over thirty years. Diametrically opposed.

  9. I’m almost as surprised that Singhalong hasn’t pulled out his race/identity card as the reason his Party got shit-kicked as I am that our media hasn’t yet brought it up.

  10. As much as I detest the Marxist NDP, we Conservatives need them to be viable to take away Liberal votes. Extinguishing their profile in Parliament isn’t going to achieve that.
