Treating water is the simplest thing there is. Filter out the dirt and chlorinate. Every off Indian reserve village in Alberta has potable water. Reserves do not because it is a source of billions in funding. If you solve the problem, the money goes away. Kind of like putting a shovel in the ground at old reserve school sites.
Treating water is easy but the political will and spine to treat it are lacking.
Travelling across the country it was noted that many towns in Ontario, the Maritimes and Newfoundland have boil water orders because they either don’t have the infrastructure or it is broken or like in Walkerton, local yokels don’t believe in water sanitation.
One thing one notices travelling across the country is that the infrastructure in Canada is deteriorating and the PTB don’t care. Rainbow crosswalks and drag shows in schools are all the circuses they care about .
There’s nothing so bad that government can’t make worse.

You can’t fix stupid. Tear it up and start again. Yes, every non -First Nation town, village or settlement has potable water, at the expense of the residents. I wish we could have received federal funds for our sand filter and chlorination up-grades! Nobody mentioned that water in plastic bottles leaches harmful chemicals and some believe widespread conditions are the result.
Ther are presently 3 communities, in southern Ontario, with boil water advisories. All are temporary, due to white privilege of knowing and desiring to repair the problem.
The abos can do like every other person in Canada does. They can dig and maintain their own wells or they can subscribe to the service of a municipal or town water system. It’s really not that difficult.
So you Canadians refer to the native population as Abos, too? I didn’t know that. So much to learn.

Off the reserve.. Does every small community have clean well water?.. I would imagine the answer is no.. The big deal about this is the liberals broke their promise.. Myself, I don’t think its possible.. Short of falling over dead the more you test the more problems you are going to find..

I moved to the boonies 40 years ago. I decided I like to take a dump inside. The well and pressure system cost like $2500 and the septic system was like $2000. I haven’t had a water bill since. I replaced the well pump once for about $400. I can handle the $9 average per month it has cost me. Oops maybe a bit more, like $10. I had the honey wagon come a couple times, last time was $400. Why don’t smaller reserves just do wells?
If the problems were actually fixed, then the Liberals would be unable to promise to fix them during each successive election.
At the cost of Billions of $ of course.

– fresh fruit
– bicycle
– deodorant
– gym membership
– comb or hair brush
– lawn mower
– garbage can
– self help book
– non alcoholic beer
– hand tools / other than one individual buying a pair of bolt cutters ( wife said he was investing in his own business)
– lawn furniture
– soap
The list is endless , I wouldn’t worry about some people not brushing their teeth.
