“Democrats need to embrace Hollywood because this is where they need to come to learn how to tell a story.” – Michael Moore
In its fifth weekend on screens, “Snow White” earned about $7 million in ticket sales domestically and internationally, bringing the total box office take to an estimated $194 million. The film cost an estimated $270 million (after tax credits!) plus another $70-$100 million to market and probably needs $625 million, after theaters take their cut, just to break even.
Oof.

They/them will never give up, just double down and scream louder.
It didn’t help that What’s-her-name wouldn’t shut up.

Caveat: It has to be a story people want to hear..
… or contemptuously savage and shit on a story people already know and adore…
A remake of Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs fails. Maybe the movie industry is forcing people to grow up. Ditto with the superhero movies.
Haven’t set foot in a movie theater since 1986. Don’t have Netflix or other show biz bs.
Old re runs and some quality old movies are still good.
I am considered to be a “poor senior”. I DO own my house, my car, some decent investments but I live on a very tight budget. With the cost of food soaring, I am very conscious as to how to spend my discretionary dollars (I get my thrills shopping at Value Village). I “might” go see The Accountant 2, as I did enjoy the first movie (saw it on a streaming service), but then again, I might wait until it comes out on the streaming service.
I used to love going to the movies, the big screen, the smell of movie popcorn, being with others in a darkened room and sharing the same viewing experience. Last time I was in a theatre was in summer of 2023, when I went to see “Sound of Freedom” (at a second run cinema).
The new Snow White film seemed doomed from conception. I think Disney really needs to rethink their plan of remaking all their classic movies into inferior live actions.
