We will watch a debate where everything from which leaders are allowed to appear on stage to the specifics of the debate format to who its broadcasts are is determined by a government “commission,” established by the incumbent party and overseen, until recently, by the same government’s favourite political appointee or David Johnston.
Sigh. Canada is lost.
This debate is occuring in Montreal on a night when the Habs are in a must-win game to qualify for the Stanley Cup playoffs. Great planning, Commissioners!

the covid mandates madness, and didn’t clap for an SS chap in Parliament, so there’s that.
This election is mainly about grey man bad for Conservatives, and daddy’s come home for Liberals.
Who else believes Carney was holed up in Ottawa practicing his French and debating skills?
There was no government business and certainly no “Prime Minister Duties” going on.

Speaking of early voting, I see that three of the four dates coincide with Good Friday, Easter Sunday and Easter Monday. After reading the lede to this article, the first thing that popped into mind was a production starring Cabbage Patch Dolls.
Always willing to question my own assumptions, I switched to The Muppet Show with Carnage being Kermit “It’s not easy being green” the Frog.
I’m working my way around to considering this as a debate. I may never get there, though.
I can’t watch these ‘debates’. They are nothing near a debate. Shouting matches erupt. No decorum and anyone can participate. Why would the BQ, Greens and the ndp get to participate? They have no chance of winning. It’s a strategy to hide Carnival.
