    6. In my experience, a delayed decision is usually good news. The person making the decision doesn’t want to get it wrong and get taken out to the woodshed by bis/her peers and betters. The person involved takes extra time.

    As one mulls over Friday’s drama, one realises that Zelensky DID have something big to offer, and he should have done it:

    He could have told the Donald and JD that he fully understood Americans’ concerns about grifting and corruption without actually mentioning Hunter Biden, or his late father, by name, and offering fully open books in any investigation into, e.g., USAID operations in Ukraine.

    That would been a win-win, plus it would have sickened all the right people.

In my case being a scientist married to a scientist, my wife and I had colleagues and friends in both Donbas and Crimea from well before the 2014 referendum and before the conflict started who began telling us what the Azov brigade was doing to ethnic Russians. They welcomed Putin as a deliverer from Ukrainian oppression. I think Putin is a mafiosa style thug as crooked as any tyrant but the people in the Donbas and Crimea wanted him more than they wanted the Azov brigade and Zelenskyy. As a Conservative I think people should choose the government they want even if I think it’s a choice between two evils. The Donets river, where most the fighting has been going on, would seem to be a natural border to divide the region on with one side, which is entirely ethnic Russian anyway going to Russia and the other side to the Ukraine.

        I have also noticed most people screaming about the Russian invasion of the Ukraine have no idea where the Donbas is much less the Donets and Don river and have no understanding of the history region.

    It should be fairly easy for the US Department of Defence to provide a listing of all the weapons, equipment, and ammunition sent to Ukraine, and their cost.

    Similarly other Departments Energy, State, etc. can provide a list of the equipment and supplies they sent.

    Another question is how much cash was transferred? The answer? $350 billion minus the totals from the Departments mentioned above.

    Where’s that money? The Trump administration, political pundits, and many SDA readers say it’s somewhere between $100 billion and $250 billion; and Zelensky stole it.

    Time for the US to provide proof of the amount.

    A) If as many SDA readers, Putin, many in US media, and some in the Trump administration say; that Ukraine is the most corrupt place on the planet, why, oh why did the US send so much cash to Ukraine? Surely that’s a bunch of Americans being incredibly stupid.

    B) Of the purported amount of $100 to $250 billion, how much never left the US?

    Given the vast indications of waste, fraud, mismanagement, and plain old fashioned corruption being exposed by DOGE, it wouldn’t surprise me if most of the purported amount is in the hands of Americans, or in their Swiss bank accounts.

    Start looking at all those people Biden publicly pardoned. Then check to see if there’s anyone who Biden pardoned, but never announced the pardon.

    It’s time for the “most transparent government ever” to actually be transparent.

        Let’s say you are right and the Department of Defence can’t provide this number:

        a) that implies the Department of Defence is grossly incompetent.

        Does the Air Force not have cargo manifests for each C17 or other plane shipment? Same for cargo ships.

        Does the US military not know how much equipment they off loaded from ships on to railcars in Europe? Do they not check this against their movement orders?

        I worked in the oil industry. At drilling rig sites, and at facility construction sites, we always physically checked truck deliveries against our purchase orders. Are you telling me the US military doesn’t do this?

        b) then where did Trump’s number of $350 billion come from? Are you suggesting they just made it up?

        1. Joe I am not implying the US DoD is incompetent, I am stating it. Not just them, but the entire US government, the entire Canadian and collectively European governments are all stunningly incompetent. Gob smackingly so.
          I have worked in an industry blessed with both Federal, and Provincial regulation for 30 years, I have never dealt with a competent person yet. Some a little capable, but they quickly become totally incompetent as the system (the Borg would be a good example) absorbs them. In many cases, we are told to do things one way by the Feds and another way by the Province, either of which would violate the rules of the other, leaves us deciding who to piss off. Is that any way to run a railroad? Half of our time is spent on compliance with utter foolishness.

          I am guessing Trump admin’s number comes from adding up announcements, but that is a guess. And that is all the value the number has, it could be double or half. Musk’s DOGE has identified that 10% of Treasury’s disbursements since time immemorial have no backup, No P.O.’s, no routing paperwork, no nothing. Unauditable, which is a feature, not a bug. Show me an organization with that kind of cah flow going through with no controls, no audit trail, just for a day, and I won’t give a flying F tomorrow, i’ll be rich beyond the dreams of avarice, and until Musk, thought untouchable. USAID was a money laundering operation for all the stuff various nefarious players wanted “off book” clerarly, they didn’t count on Musk’s AI nerds or Data Republican’s skills. They identified it in 24 hours and know where the money went, wait until Pam Bondi gets her grand jury going with Kash Patel doing the legwork. Some really well placed people are going to fall, and it will be glorious, and unfortunately murderous.
          I started life after university as a CA, and was on the BCCI audit, we got tangentially close to this mess to the point where we were getting scared for our safety, look it up, you’ll see what I mean. With those tools, we could have really opened it up, and got dead in a London sewer for our trouble.

            I think it’s time for Trump to tell us exactly how he get $350 billion in aid delivered to Ukraine.

            Fox News was reporting yesterday that the number was $175 billion delivered to Ukraine.

            Zelensky says $75 billion has been received by Ukraine.

            Other sources (US DoD) have said $183 billion has been appropriated by Congress. Of this, $140 billion has been obligated, with $84 billion having been actually disbursed.

            So approximately $100 billion aid is in the future.

            $84 billion disbursed is a far cry from the $350 billion Trump said has been delivered.

Can’t hand him that victory, no matter the cost in Ukrainian lives. And have the giant money laundering scam continue. Starmer wants to fund the war? The Euros want to stand with Ukraine? What is the exit strategy?… I mean there is one right? Of course not. Every European nation of note has a government teetering on the edge of failure just trying to stay in power for another few months. Just like ours.
