    Low hanging fruit, power politics.. No matter how badly needed, his enemies will never allow that feather in his cap.. IMO, if the problem isn’t big enough to garner bipartisan support.. Its not big enough to empty the treasury or start WW3..

    1. More than that. The Democrats played Zelenskyy. According to Sen. Chris Murphy (D-Conn.) Zel met with Democrats before going to see Trump. They advised him to reject the deal. He took the terrible advice. So he’s screwed Ukraine. The Eurotrash are all talk. They are not going to come to Ukraine’s aid. The Dems win because they can now rekindle the Russian collusion hoax against Trump. At this time that’s all they have to run on.

        Last month, the UK announced an agreement with Ukraine that was signed on Jan 16. There was one key point in the announcement that stuck out:

        “It also cements the UK as a preferred partner for Ukraine’s energy sector, critical minerals strategy and green steel production.”

        Although it has yet to be confirmed, some believe that this entire agreement includes Ukraine giving the rights to its minerals to the UK—NOT the US.

        1. Meh. Let em have it. I consider my grandchildren money-ahead if we completely detach the war spigot $$$$$ from Ukraine. OK … we got nada from $350B in war aid … well … except we DID get to modernize our own stockpiled war implements.

          So it’s time to cut our losses. That’s business. Smart people STOP throwing money down a rathole … and just STOP the bleeding. No point in funding more bleeding. Literally.

In last October’s UK budget, there’s a long list of items the gov’t has cut back on, and increased taxes on (like the people who grow their food!), you’d think they have no worries with “a billion here, a billion there” with there being no end to how much these additional taxes are going to bring in.

    Just don’t ask what those taxes are going to, the meat grinder isn’t sated yet.

    1. I had a roommate in my last year at UC Berkeley … I’ll call him ‘Raj’. His parents were both physicists at the Stanford Linear accelerator. ‘Raj’ … NEVER bought a single roll of toilet paper for our shared bathroom for the entire year. Not once. He didn’t even take the hint when I started hiding the TP that I bought.

  8. One commenter wrote that Z may have had a mineral deal with the UK already. If so, everything he did in the US was in bad faith. Trump will not forget that. Z is in serious trouble and Starmer too.

  9. Bear with me … and don’t dismiss my comments out of hand because of my strident LGBTQueer animosity. Animosity against institutionalizing perversion of biology.

    What possibly explains the moralizing about smashing Putin at ANY COST, spending another million lives, spending never ending $€£ Billions in a war that cannot be won … even when the nukes start flying … other than Putin’s “homophobia”, err … “rules based international order” or something? A weak America under the likes of Biden, Sullivan … and Susan Rice, not to mention a feckless Europe … literally INVITED Putin to take his warm water port and secure pathway to Crimea away from Ukraine. Yeah, Putin invaded. Land lost. You’re never getting it back. The squishy left did that to you … not Trump.

    So now, Zelenskyyyy has sided (again) with the brilliant minds who engineered the loss of Ukraine territory. Let em have at it for another 4-years … until Trump is out of office (or impeached -again- in 2-years). Just leave ME and my grandchildren OUT of your pointless war. A war fought for … why?

    My own little slice of suburban bliss has a “war memorial” that a group of lefties erected to protest “Bush’s war in Iraq”. Thousands of schlocky white crosses on a hillside. It’s been there since the Iraq War. It’s ridiculous and ugly. Funny thing … no crosses were added for Obama’s war dead … nor for Biden’s … not even for the 13 dead American soldiers killed during Biden’s botched withdrawal from Afghanistan.

    Now … these same lefties appear to have found a War they LIKE!! Nope. No protests, no crosses for the Ukranian war dead (to be certain, 600k crude wood crosses wouldn’t fit on the hillside).

    But this Vietnam era kid finds it fascinating that the lefties have found a WAR that they REALLY LIKE!!! One that they are willing to send more and more people to die in. And this Vietnam era kid switched on the evening news day after day after day from the early 60’s to the early 70’s and saw nothing but blood and mayhem … straight from the front lines from embedded reporters. When have you seen a SINGLE legacy news story on evening TV showing the true bloody cost of the Ukraine War? Me? Not once. Ever. Well … except when the narrative-shapers want to show “Russian atrocities” … dead Ukraine civilians? Sure. Dead Ukraine soldiers? Never. Why is that … you must ask. Why aren’t there embedded reporters from the front lines showing grisly accounts of the 600k dead Ukrainians?

    There are only two possibilities for this inversion of the traditionally anti-war left:
    1) this is the FIRST LGBTQueer war against a “homophobic” leader, or
    2) It’s a globalist war intended to smash an independent Russia and make them bow to the Communist EU.
    Or … BOTH. Yes, BOTH.

    Didn’t Syria just successfully remove THEIR horrible, terrible, strongman leader? Wasn’t this such an urgent need of the lefties? Wasn’t it so horrible in Syria that Europe invited millions of Syrian refugees into their formerly peaceful nations?

    Why has Syria dropped completely OUT of the legacy media? It was the cause dujour for years and years … now … *crickets*. What’s actually happening in Syria? Who’s in charge? Susan Rice? Valerie Jarrett? The EU? The WEF?

  11. This is captivating to watch. Over the last two months, the EU and the UK have gone from 1. We’re not sending peace keeping troops to Ukraine. Then: 2. Ok, we’ll send cursory peace keeping troops (but with the caveat that the US participate). Then: 3. We will send peace keeping troops, but only if the US does and they lead the entire operation (IOW, pay for it)….to this most recent morphing 4. The UK and France (and two players to be named later) will send peace keeping troops, with the US backing us up as “insurance.”

    Let me tell you what this most recent “plan” is all about. I can guarantee that whatever event would initiate US direct involvement will occur in short order. Whether initiated by Russia or some other mysterious party…it will occur….which would result in direct US involvement (which would then put us under pressure to pay for everyone). THEN, (and I normally think The Conservative Treehouse is hyperbolic, self-important nonsense), some catastrophic event will occur that does extreme damage and loss of life to US forces in Ukraine….hoping that instills a long term commitment and greases the world banks, EU, UK, and further promotes the globalism all these parties so covet.

    Bottom line. We need to stay out of it, and call the EU/ UK bluff. Let them pony up for full peace keeping duty if they really think it’s necessary. In the interim, JD Vance is going to have a figurative target on his back for the next four years. They can’t afford for the US foreign policy to actually extend for the next 12 years instead of just Trump’s term.

  12. What is Starmer doing? He’s setting up Trump for the Dems and globalists. Boots on the ground and planes in the air “with strong US backing”. Trump sez No: muh Putin stooge. This prick was in the White House last week all chummy with Trump. Now we learn he may have had a mineral deal with Z. Starmer is as duplicitous as the English come. And he’s shafting the English at the same time.
