  13. NATO and the wars involved are under the thumb of US foreign policy, its deep state and neocon wars-forever influence. Trump is an America-first president and wants to use NATO for domestic advantage or cut it loose. Canada has no real allies anymore except to the extent that the US is also threatened. People in the UK with any memory of Canadians defending them during WW2 are all gone. Other than giving the Canadian military some purpose while under Liberal governments without any, since the fall of the Berlin Wall, NATO has been redundant. Canada needs rebuilding from the bottom up with everything on the table. Is it going follow the UK and Europe and become a Caliphate? If it isn’t going to allow northern resource development by non-indigenous welfare recipients then why defend it? Defending three coasts does not require power projection but does require modern systems with significant reserve manpower availability.
