Team Canada

Before we get too excited lets remember that these premiers haven’t even been able to negotiate trade amongst themselves.

National Post- ‘We never agreed that Canada would not be the 51st state,’ Trump staffer says after premiers meeting

Update:

Matt Gurney- I hereby propose the Ice Bucket Challenge for National Survival

I need a premier to unilaterally harmonize some regulations and then publicly dare another premier to match that move … and then pass it on.

  1. It’s a double-negative. Logically it translates to ‘we agree that Canada can be the 51st state’, which is fine by me! 🙂

  2. Is everyone in Canada brain dead? Trump would never allow Canada to join the union. It would be like adding another California. The Republicans would never win another federal election. He is threatening to do something that he doesn’t want. It’s a negotiation tactic. And it’s fun for him to make his opponents squirm. Never going to happen.

    1. Canada would add no less than 25 million Democrat voters. Republican voters would be stretching to reach 5 million.

    2. @Paul&Mike: Trump is not stupid, he knows that very well. The ‘union’ will have some limitations. It will be by province/in stages, not by Canada as a whole + will be related to economy/resources and strategic/military only. Nothing else, at least for a decade or two, until dust settles.

    3. PaulHPT: “Trump would never allow Canada to join the union. It would be like adding another California.”

Shhhh… your ‘leaders’ don’t know that.

DanC probably has it about right if Canada was ever admitted into the United States. I can’t see Canada becoming the 51st State wholesale.

  3. Sorry, but I’m loving every minute of this, watching this country’s “leaders” get slapped around with harsh, sharp doses of reality being slammed on them. Watching others in this country uttering their smug, elitist, out of touch BS, is rivers of leftist tears flowing.
Trump never called me “UNACCEPTABLE FRINGE” or “RACIST” or “MYSOGINIST” or “DANGEROUS”, or wished me denial of services to restaurants, events, churches or travel. I KNOW who the enemy is, and it’s not Trump.
Keep slapping around these small minded incompetents, 47.
Burn it all down, show them who runs the economy, give them a harsh dose of WHO’S THE BOSS? And DoubleDown on it, that’s his style.
Too many so-called friends, family and acquaintances have been thoroughly brainwashed, there’s nothing to discuss, they need that harsh economic jolt to wake up. Bring it on!

    1. “Sorry, but I’m loving every minute of this…”

Me too – but without the “sorry”! They are all tangled in webs of their own making. They all (a) supported the suppression of our freedoms, (b) the Paris Climate accord and related green snot, (c) the measures during the Wuhan flu idiocy that contributed so much to our economic quicksand, (d) all the DEI bullshit that has made a mockery of our army, (e) the censoring of the internet and the criminilization of opinion, (f)…..

    2. “Trump never called me “UNACCEPTABLE FRINGE” or “RACIST” or “MYSOGINIST” or “DANGEROUS”, or wished me denial of services to restaurants, events, churches or travel.”
Perhaps because Trump lives in a different country, and had no say on what went on here. He was busy doing those things in his own country for his buddy Fauci at the time.

      1. Wrong, leftist dolt. That was Mengele Fauxci and your hero Bidihn. I survived 3 winters of death, idiot! Back to your bridge, Tard!

        1. Trump started putting restrictions on travel in the US on Jan31, 2020 long before Biden was sworn in.
By May and June they were openly arguing over lock downs and gatherings, and it continued right to the election.
After Biden was elected Covid receded for a while but came back in the summer which was when Biden started doing all the same things that Trump had and worse.
I watched it play out every night on FOX.
You show your ignorance by attempting to smear people that you haven’t a clue about.

  4. Wait a second.. I thought meeting with the new administration and going the diplomatic route was ‘bootlicking’, ‘kissing butt’ and being a traitor. Oh no wait…that was just when Smith did it. Sorry, forgot myself. *eyeroll*

    1. “that was just when Smith did it”
“‘bootlicking’, ‘kissing butt’ and being a traitor.”
It still is, some are just slow learners.

          1. Did you mean erudite?

Before you go about casting aspersions against others, you may wish to address your own shortcomings…

  5. Parts of Canada, probably as a couple of individual states, though I’d prefer an independent country of AB/Sask. over other options until that doesn’t work out.. and have no idea how anyone would be rah-rah over “Team Canada” while it seems everything old Canada is pushing is for more control and less freedom.

Perhaps that’s why the Canadian Premiers and PM’s are saying we’ll never be American, while not taking the time to actually ask us what we think…

I have no idea what the thousands of almost unemployable civil service people are going to do. There’s only so many laboring jobs on construction sites, and the yelling / sarcasm fully loaded onto each and every sentence uttered is going to be hard for them to handle. Seriously how many 350 lbs “flag girls” does a site need?

  6. The last time ten Preniers agreed on something, Canadians got our “Constitution”. Canadians got ‘Good Government’, Provinces not equal, and no property rights. And, they did it with no mandate from the electorate via elections or referendums. How many of these Premiers can be trusted to do right by everyday Canadians when they won’t even cooperate amongst themselves?

    1. In the upper right hand corner of this SDA blog…

“Until this moment I have been forced to listen while media and politicians alike have told me “what Canadians think”. In all that time they never once asked.”
I think those are Kate’s words, perhaps some day a Premier or PM will read them here at the source.

    2. “How many of these Premiers can be trusted…”

There’s an election this month in Ontario, and the options are #BlubberDougie of Covid-Lockdown fame and two women so stupid I wouldn’t let them deliver my groceries. Bonnie Crombie? Are you kidding me?

None of these people could be trusted to hold a horse by the head. Trump is eating their lunch.

  7. What may happen, If Canadians are pig stupid enough to re elect the Liberals.
Is for Alberta (51) to eventually join the United States, and become America’s smoke stack.
Then over the course of time, with a bit of schmoozing, convince Saskatchewan (52), and then eventually
British Columbia (53) to join. Leaving the rest of Canada to fend for themselves.

    1. BC? I’m not sure the Chicom masters would allow that to happen. Nor would the Marxist unions, who seem to prefer the lockdown credit scores of China.
Besides, it would be akin to allowing California in with all the parasites and takers in as new DeMarxist welfare voters.
Instead, I see this country being isolated by the US and treated as a hostile state. But not occupied, the logistics and geography are too great. Instead:
Borders are locked down. Travel permissible, but inspections are thorough. Checkpoint Charlie x10.
Air travel permissible, but again, scrutiny is higher than current.
Shipping is intercepted by US forces on the seas. Thoroughly inspected and searched. Just the delays caused by that action will make this country cry Uncle Klaus.
The Americans will own the skies, with regular patrols by US aircraft.
If this country wants to be a Chinese asset, then, the US will treat this country as hostile, and get all the special treatment it deserves.
The smug elitists here are in complete denial, they are delusional.
Good times breed weak men. And this country is full of weak men and Karens.

      1. I think BC would be forced into a situation where they would have no choice.
Unless of course they manage to successfully go it alone as a nation.
It’s people are too stupid for that type of thinking.

  8. Matt Gurney’s proposal actually sounds doable. Full of common sense and requiring just a little bit of political courage. It could be brilliance writ large… but even if Smith took the initiative we all know that as soon as some premier’s unemployable idiot brother in law or 3rd cousin twice removed loses his job as deputy assistant widget counter for the lower north western district of the south eastern division it will ground to a halt. Are only saving grace may come down to the fact that said premier may actually say screw it saying Canada is worth losing an idiot brother in law!

    1. Matt & Jen have a fairly level-headed take on most things Canadian (I particularly like Jen’s go-to phrase of calling our federal government “stun fucked”). Matt was a little crazy about the convoy, but even then I think he was trying to come at it from the angle that the Ottawa police had completely lost any ability to handle the situation. I don’t recall where he stood on all of Canada’s nutty Covid restrictions.

They’re not conservative, not quite .. but they’re certainly no fans of this pack of Liberals. Their podcast is worth a listen.

  9. Per the update
    It’s a good idea
But there’s a niggling little problem that is a feature that is part of what was referred to as the two solitudes.
It’s been this way as one province perceives Canada as a 50/50 power sharing agreement with the rest of the country.
They still feel they are owed for being part of confederation.
The only thing that will change it is when they run out of other peoples money.
