Art Of The Deal

This Just in.

I just had a good call with President Trump. Canada is implementing our $1.3 billion border plan — reinforcing the border with new choppers, technology and personnel, enhanced coordination with our American partners, and increased resources to stop the flow of fentanyl. Nearly 10,000 frontline personnel are and will be working on protecting the border.

In addition, Canada is making new commitments to appoint a Fentanyl Czar, we will list cartels as terrorists, ensure 24/7 eyes on the border, launch a Canada- U.S. Joint Strike Force to combat organized crime, fentanyl and money laundering. I have also signed a new intelligence directive on organized crime and fentanyl and we will be backing it with $200 million.

Proposed tariffs will be paused for at least 30 days while we work together.

  1. Poor Dougie now he has to put all those Bourbon bottles back on the shelfs.
That is after he tapes the Starlink deal back together.

    1. Same here on The Rock. NLC just finished taking everything off the shelves! The news tonight had an idiot Bar owner who just poured all his American branded booze down the sink! Already bought and paid for and the Beer products were made locally! What a Moron!

      1. The only downside is that I bought two pretty nice bottles of Bourbon in the morning just to spite Dougie. And I am Irish/Scotch guy. Oh well, will make a nice gift or guests will enjoy those.

      2. I would go to that bar and order a round of Bourbon for the men and California wine for all the ladies, just to see the the dipshit’s reaction.

        1. It would be just a vacant stare! I think he’s too stupid to understand what you were trying to do.

    2. Trudeau says the “proposed tariffs”. Trump’s were not “proposed”, they were announced and activated at midnight.

Is Trudeau talking about Canada’s retaliatory tariffs or Trump’s or both?

Ambiguous tweet. Has Trump or the Whitehouse responded? When we see the pause from them we’ll know it’s true.

    3. The stupidest part is LickBO already paid for the bottles, so taking them off the shelf never made sense outside of performative idiocy.

    1. “UnMe hardest hit.
      Brian Z. proven wrong.”

      Killer Marmot despondent

“Art of the deal. So. Much. Winning.”

Trump does seem to confound most politicians, doesn’t he? They still seem to have trouble figuring out that he is a businessman first and politician second.

    2. This!!!!! So many uncritical thinkers conned into Team Trudeau only to be proven immediately WRONG.
      Fly, meet windshield!
TruDOPE, folded like a CHEAP DECK OF CARDS

    3. This isn’t over. There will be another demand within 30 days. He’s already talking about American banks…

      1. Brian, Ian Lee, an economist I believe said in an interview the tariffs are just a tool for a broader range of trade issues. Trump is talking farm products, dairy and yes banking. So think this is just the start.

  2. So, you did what Trump asked 3 months ago. Why wait so long, and let the dollar slide to just do what he asked.

    Brain dead!

    1. Well,,,,,,,, they were planning on spending that new found money on the 5000 hamas supporters they’re bringing into Canada !!!
Guess Canada will just have to put them up in 4 star hotels rather than the 6 star one they’d planned on.

    2. Trump should not trust any promises from the Turd – he needs to send Elon to supervise in person.

        1. “Thats why only paused for a month to see if he complies”

Exactly. Trudeau is well known for making promises he has no intention of keeping.

  3. Well, what do you know.
    Funny how that works.
You don’t think that list had an origin in and around 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue NW, Washington DC 20500 by any chance, do you?

  4. From Scott Burgess on X:

    ————————————

    Mexico caved
    Panama caved
    Colombia caved
    Venezuela caved
    Canada panicking
    Mass deportations
    Hostages are home
    DEI programs ended
    Bureaucracy slashed
    FBI purges are underway
    USAID funding cancelled
    Gender ideology eliminated
    DOGE already saved billions
    51 intel agents lost clearance
Border crossings have dropped by 93%

    ——————————————

( …just change ‘Canada panicking’ to ‘Canada caved’)

      1. The lolcow material never ends with you, Jessica.
Every post you make just shows your lolcow nature.
Call you Colon, Jessica, it don’t matter, you’ll never learn.
You are the butt-plug of SDA.

        1. Wait, am I a colon or a butt-plug? You can’t be both. Your anal fixation is showing btw.

          1. Well, what do you think your butt plug is plugging?
            Anatomically challenged to Butt.
            Or, is that “to Boot”?
            Lick it.

          2. Lots of backdoor experts here, I see. You boys must know each other rather intimately.

  5. Or
“Shit la merde I made a mithtake acting like I had a set of nutth…and my Botheth told me to fix thingth or elth.”

  6. I told an American friend a few hours ago that I thought there was no way Lil’ Justin would ever cave. I was completely wrong!

    1. I thought so too. Seems like his Chicom masters got a call from Trump and subsequently took their tiniest vise grip to Potato’s nether region.

      1. The Turd, worked it out with the ChiComs to only go after the fentanyl makers that wear turbans, and if he left China out of the matter, the Liberal party would still receive their political donations( and special help, to win the next election )

        1. I think it was Chicom heavy industry, steel in particular, that got spooked. They own him and a good number of Librano MPs.

      2. I suspect Trudeau called his master Chief fascist Herr Klaus Schwab. That’s who he reports to.

        1. No he doesn’t. Schwab is irrelevant in the grand scheme of things. Potato and some EUnuchs may worship at his altar but that altar is next to the kids table. The more I think about it the more I am certain that adults in Pekin made it clear that they will not tolerate it. They recently made a similar move against Lukashenko in Belarus. Yes, we’re playin in the same league as Belarus.

    2. It DID appear as though a WAR of tariffs with the USA was boosting his and the Liberals political backing …

But someone must have told him that those poll numbers were just a sugar high … and that when the REAL economic devastation hit Canada … Trudeau’s legacy would be sealed as the man who DESTROYED Canada.

      1. You’re giving him too much credit. Foresight is not a gift he can boast about. I am betting on his Chicom masters hoping that their products will continue to flow into US via Canadian border when Potato gets on his knees and opens wide.

        1. The media’s JOB is to mislead. Just look at the brazen propaganda for the last 48 hours. That filthy LIEberal lucre is an addiction to them, and I’m not sure WALDO will change much, if he ever gets to PM. What a disappointment he’s been, yet utterly predictable.
The Uniparty is the status quo

          1. Ok Maxipad.

You may be right or wrong, we will see. One thing for sure, your party will continue winning no seats and only helping Potato stay in power. And again you cheap whores will not even get a reacharound.

  7. Trudeau said nothing about addressing the demand for drug use rather than catering to it. Enabling policies are part of the problem, not a solution to it. What does the Medical Industry have to say about ‘the drug problem’? What do the addicts, both current and recovering, have to say about it?

    1. At the end of the day (from an American perspective) if Canadian problems stay in Canada then that’s fine. That’s what Trump was shooting for.

  8. Canada just took Mexican’t’s lead. Poo poo. Why didn’t they do this in the first place and save so much grief and anxiety.

    1. “My guess is the internals were showing that their gambit wasn’t working.”

Probably a good guess. They didn’t pull a 180 like this for no reason.

      1. “You can be damn sure it was about Liberal party fortunes, Canadians don’t even enter the equation.”

        We never do, with them.

  9. I just said this to a friend:

I repeat myself but had Canadians voted for governments that put forth a muscular, expansive, pro-free-speech, pro-free-market, pro-small business, pro-national security, pro-Western, pro-American version of this country – i.e., MY version of Canada – these punitive tariffs would NEVER had happened.

But Canadians did not do this – indeed, we did not do this THREE FREAKING TIMES – and so answering to inevitable realpolitik, I suspect we are going to have to take the knee. I suspect a great many foolish things will be said and done by many people who should know better as, to quote Friedrich Hayek, “the socialists of all parties” backpedal, stagger and grope their way to finding a credibly and politically face-saving way of taking the knee

Keep this famous scene from National Lampoon’s Animal House in mind
    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qdFLPn30dvQ

  10. Wonderful. You’ll find the Sinaloa Cartel set up and operating out of Toronto. You’ll find the Jalisco Cartel set up and operating out of Quebec City. Current set up of a third cartel is taking place in Alberta. Have fun. They’ve been dug in since 2013 when Vito Rizutto died. When Trudeau opened up the borders to new immigrants, the Mexican contingency went from about 250 to over 5,000 (many of which were of the criminal cartel nature).

    1. That’s the thing people don’t get about a lot of third world arrivals. To get out of a lot of these places requires capital and connections, and sizeable quantities of both. Know what grieving widows and orphans don’t have? Care to guess who might have the capital and connections to get out of places run by criminals and warlords?

    1. Reminds me of the guy who is black and blue and brags to his friends….”I blocked his wicked right cross with my chin and threw him heavily to the ground on top of me”.

  11. Trudeau also neglegted to mention what instructions will be given to the Legal Industry by the Government on behalf of the people regarding expectations on APPROPRIATE sentences for drug offenders. What do SDA reader think an appropriate sentence should be?

    1. Drug offenders is a broad term. But as far as fentanyl dealers, I say “Make gallows great again”

  12. Absolutely EVERYTHING that Trump is doing will be to Canada’s benefit….IF WE FOLLOW THE DIRECTION he is leading in. Canada should be cutting government drastically….it should be creating a healthy business environment….it should be cutting regulations.

  13. Dear Canadian voters:

    Two questions for you:

    1. With everything that has happened the past 48 hours, what are your current feelings about Pierre P?

    2. What are your predictions about what the Canadian federal government will ACTUALLY do before the next expiry date?

    1. Feelings for Pierre P remain the same. He’s the man. Pierre P was engaging in realpolitik and didn’t want to hand an issue over to the Liberals. Pretty simple concept.

    2. Potato’s capitulation puts PP in better situation than he was in last night when Potato was fighting. He had no choice yesterday now he can rip into Potato for starting a fight and then running like a little bitch.

    3. PP had a good speech today. Focused on migrants and mostly fentanyl, border strength.
      Stayed away from tariffs.

    4. My feelings for Pierre Pollievre remain the same. A political squish that is slightly better than the Liberals. Not gonna make any big cuts to taxes or the bureaucracy, but he’ll manage things better than Trudeau and likely wont be so prolific with corruption.

A shame, because if he wanted to he could leave behind a legacy of major changes to Canada that would reap benefits for Canadians.

      Just my opinion. We’ll see.

    5. Robert.
      1. I still don’t trust him. Christine Anderson had him nailed. He threw his own under the bus. Leslyn.
      2. Nothing unless the prorogation of the parliament of fools comes to an end.

  14. Where, exactly, is the $1.3 B coming from? If it’s new spending, then it has to go through Parliament, which is prorogued. If it’s not new spending, then where is it being taken from in the current budget?

The pause takes us to Mar. 3. So, parliament will continue to be prorogued (and no new spending bills passed), or the court could have declared the prorogation of Parliament improper on Feb. 15. In that case we go back to Parliament being in session, but seized, so no spending bills can be passed.

All opposition parties have said they will vote non-confidence when the House is back in session. Does anyone believe Jagmeet will vote nc if the prorogation is rolled back, and Parliament goes back into session as of Feb. 15? I don’t believe for a second that he would vote to bring down the government 10 days before he qualifies for his pension on the 25th.

JT gives the appearance of buying time but the panicking will resume in 30 days.

    1. That has already been earmarked, but, spread over 6 years.
Is that OK with Bad Orange Man?
Or is this another half Troof uttered by Derp Leader?
Guess we’ll see in 30 days.
I’m surprised Turd didn’t wait until late Friday afternoon before caving

      1. 30 days from today is March 5. And the leadership vote for Trudy’s replacement happens on March 9.

Plenty of time in between to throw another monkey wrench into the works.

  15. Didn’t Danielle Smith advise to appoint a czar similar to Tom Homman ? You just can’t fix stupid when you think like brain dead liberal socialist. Guess which country is the mummy and who is the daddy !

  16. Let me ask ONE FINAL TIME! Why doesn’t Canada simply work with Trump in securing our mutual border?

    Oh! Nevermind.

    UnMe hit the hardest

  17. There is no measure to indicate how absolutely stupid Canada looks right now. Trump and America for the win!

  18. Enjoy this moment, then remind yourselves: Either Xi or Trump changes the diaper because Canadians won’t.

  19. Some people chose to view this as capitulation and bending over for a spanking.

I see it as Canadian leadership finally stepping up to their responsibility. Too bad it took a threat from Trump to make it happen.

And too bad Trump didn’t hold out for more on the self sufficiency side. Oh wait. He did say that Canada still has a trade imbalance that hurts the US. More to come, I predict.

  20. National Newswatch: U.S. President Donald Trump has agreed not to impose tariffs on Canada and Mexico for another month, pulling back from a plan that would have tipped North America into a trade war on Tuesday.

Now Trudeau can claim victory and call an election so voters can have their say on the matter. No, really.

  22. Trudeau tried to appease the Americans. Now do Canadians. Open tanker traffic on the West coast. Stop tanker traffic on the East coast. Restart Northern Gateway, even though the Americans probably don’t want that. Start pleasing Canadians somehow, Liberals.

  23. I fully expect panic again, on 3 March 2025 … Right up against the #Libranos leadership convention/vote

A health officer in BC was shown on X/Twitter to be advocating for a smokable form of fentanyl “for everyone’s safety” .. it seems Canada’s new drug czar will have her work cut out for her.

Yes, I used “her” with intent. Theresa Tam is under-utilised in her current position now that the covid terror has passed. She’s been there for 9 years, time for a promotion lol…

  24. Beta boy king Trudeau will still puff his chest declaring how he “stood up to” Trump. And the blue haired gals and soy cucks will all swoon.

  25. So Trump got Trudeau to admit the border and fentanyl are things that need to be fixed.
Gee if only he had figured this out weeks ago, none of the drama would have been necessary but it’s Justin isn’t it
And he’s al about being a drama queen
Now he has 30 days to make good or the tariffs take effect.
    This should get interesting

  26. Well we now have a least 30 more days to stock up on American made goods. This will help the trade imbalance between Canada and the USA. I should buy Canadian you say. Why? Canada has become a shithole country that does not deserve support any longer.

  27. Trudeau nominates Tommy Chong as Canada’s new fentanyl Czar.

    Tommy’s response was “Dave’s not here “

  28. The entire thing could have been done without the threat of trade wars, and definitely without the “51st state” comments.

If there’s a problem, first you negotiate privately behind close doors. If negotiations succeed then everyone declares it a great deal for both sides and have their picture taken together with big smiles. Another triumph for two ancient allies.

And if it fails, only then do you bring out the big guns.

As it is, Trump has scared the shit out of many Americans and Canadians without even knowing if it was necessary. The bitterness and distrust will last many years.

  29. Am I the only one who thinks the Post was written by an American? “choppers” “Czar” “list cartels as terrorists”. Those are American sayings, not Canadian political speak. He was given the text to post and he posted it verbatim.

I also noticed the French version is a little better written, and it specifies designating Mexican cartels as terrorists as opposed to just cartels.

Why did they do, threaten his trust fund?

Also, CBSA only has 8,500 frontline employees. Where are the other 1,500 trained frontline officers going to come from?

  30. Too bad it requires President Trump to jump-start Canadian politicians to do what’s right and necessary.

    • It would be a good idea to broaden our markets beyond the USA.
    • It would be a good idea to meet our long-standing financial obligations for NATO.
    • It would be a good idea to harden policies against fentanyl production/exportation and because of their responsibility for thousands of deaths, treat it as terrorism .
    • It would be a good idea to tighten our borders, properly vetting incoming ‘refugees’ and preventing illegal immigration of individuals facing deportation from the US.
    • It would be a good idea to eliminate inter-provincial trade barriers, including supply management.
    • It would be a good idea to open mines and build pipelines, LNG plants and refineries to export energy to willing customers, other than the USA
    • It would be a good idea to reduce red-tape and enact policies to encourage greater entrepreneurial activity.
    • It would be a good idea to reduce the size and scope of a greatly expanded yet inefficient govt/public service.
Even if it does take the public humiliation of our political class (maybe that’s a bonus), we deeply needed his wake-up call to make us a better, stronger country.

  31. Two helicopters for a 6000 mile border is a joke. Trudeau boasts about his 1.3 billion dollar border security, which has not even been approved because he prorogued Parliament. According to their Fall Economic Statement the 1.3 billion is over 6 years, mostly in 2029. They are spending more money on their gun grab in the first 2 years than cash to secure the Border. There is no real plan. This is another Trudeau smoke and mirrors attempt to put off the inevitable.
