  2. the American civil war was the first modern conflict, not WW I.
    machine guns.
    aerial reconnaissance (hot air balloons)
mass mechanised transportation of troops: trains
    sustained artillery barrages
    submarines
    full mobilization
    deliberate willful sustained targeting of civilians;

    1. Debatable, but it would be a debate about definitions when each side has their prefered definition and repeats it ad nauseum.
However, Gatling gun is as much an early machinegun as an organ gun is an early Gatling gun and by extension a machinegun. Ever since first guns were created people were trying to fire them faster.
Use of submarines in Civil War was inconsequential for the course of war. The use was experimental and only of limited tactical impact.
Deliberate targeting of civilians is most certainly not a feature exclusive to modern warfare. It is indeed as old as organized warfare, see Mongol conquest or mooselimb conquest for most obvious past examples. Hundreds of others apply. Just ask Cartage… oops you can’t.
Sustained artillery barrages also happened before, see Napoleonic wars for example. There is a reason why the most common artillery pieces in the Civil War were called Napoleons.

The Maxim gun, and they have not.”

    2. “ the American civil war was the first modern conflict “

That’s what I’ve read too. Apparently European military leaders at the time followed the conflict closely (and sent observers) in order to learn lessons so they could have the advantage in future conflicts.

    3. deliberate willful sustained targeting of civilians;
Nothing new there. If anything, modern style war is more humane.

At the last minute, Pres. Joe Biden pardoned Dr. Antony Fauci for some unlisted crime; that makes him the most interesting man in America. In the absence of serious Inquiries into the Pandemic Lockdowns and Mandates,
There is no truth. There is only hidden iatrogenesis !

    1. “ iatrogenesis “

One thing’s for sure, I sure have learned a lot of new medical terms visiting SDA the last 5 years!

    1. So this DA is going to spend millions more of taxpayers money to put these people on trial and if they are convicted again Trump will pardon them. How did this moron get a law degree?

      1. Sporty – an interesting precedent. Of course many of Joe’s pardoned had no charges,so zero double jeopardy. But it’s a peaceful transfer of power.

    1. So we need to build an oil pipeline because of climate change and Trump won’t respect the environment. How can you twist your mind around like that?

      1. Somebody finally splained to Chief Dummy where his bannock is buttered.
Northern Gateway would probably cost $100 billion and take 20 years to build.
That’s Cantada in the 21st century.

  4. I read in the Canadian Press that the released Palestinian female prisoners had a tough time in a chaotic environment. But I didn’t see an article on the release of the Israeli female prisoners. Funny that.

  5. I lived for many years in North Carolina and had a practice along the route of Sherman’s march through the Carolinas. I felt like I touched history every day, traveling that road.

      1. Yes, I have a friend named Grant who has travelled extensively in the South. Really likes it, never had any trouble, but he says when he introduces himself they often take a moment to get a grip on themselves before proceeding.

  6. Hmmm… Bathurst and Sheppard is a very Jewish part of Toronto (plus over the past couple of decades additional people primarily from the Phillipines) and the arrested person’s name doesn’t sound Jewish or Filipino…

“Ford is saying sorry to dealers—with up to $240K in cash:

For context—back in 2022, Ford launched an EV certification program.

Dealers were told to invest hundreds of thousands to millions of dollars in infrastructure—

Or lose access to EV inventory.

Dealers pushed back hard—which is why Ford canceled the program two years later.

Now, the automaker is reimbursing retailers for some of those investments.

Moving forward—Ford dealers now only need two Level 2 chargers and some virtual training to stay certified.”

  8. Anybody detect a mood change in the country regarding the LPC and where votes might fall in a federal election?

It seems like Canadians may have moved away from PP and his ‘axe the tax’. Trump has concentrated the minds of voters and it may result in a move back to traditional voting patterns. Maybe the Bong has legs??

  9. “Ford Foundation, a philanthropic facade for the CIA
    by Paul Labarique April 2004

Between 1947 and 1966 the Ford Foundation played a key role in the network of US interference in Europe through the subvention of magazines, scientific programs and non-communist left-wing organizations. The largest philanthropic organization in the world was in fact providing a respectful facade for CIA financial and contact operations. This role was even more possible by the fact that the same persons designed and directed both organizations.”
