  1. Well that would turn anyone who won’t vote liberal

But what does motivate a liberal voter?

    Photogenic

    What’s going to sink Carney?
    He’s going bald.
He will have a tough sell if he looks older than the guy he’s campaigning against.
This is also why they don’t want Freeland but were licking their chops at the thought of Joly or Christy Clark.
Carney may have the friends, but he doesn’t sell like a nice head of hair and fancy socks.

  2. Carney must have a Trudeauopian scale ego to want the job which, barring a widespread memory loss epidemic, will put him in Parliament leading a rump party sitting behind the faux-separatist opposition party.

  3. In his book “the Patriot Game”, Peter Brimelow noted that “Canada, like certain obscure sea creatures, has evolved vital organs outside its skeletal structure, in this case south of the 49th parallel.” Good observation, Peter!

Thought experiment: imagine if a right-leaning Canadian politician went to a right-leaning US organ, say Fox News or Daily Wire to announce their candidacy. I can only imagine the cries of “Yanqui Go Home!” accompanied by fulminous denunciations about cultural imperialism, “scary” (always that word!) secret agendas, creeping theocratic fascism etc., etc., from all the usual mouthpieces in the Canadian political, media and sociocultural establishments. Why are we not seeing this here with Carbon Tax Carney?

    1. The corollary to my above-cited thought experiment and to Concerned Covid Parent’s tweet is this:

Despite their avowed anti-Americanism, it is a rare left-leaning Canadian who does not secretly believe in their heart of hearts that they would fit in PERFECTLY with your typical blue-state, upper-middle class-type American “progressive” – people David Brooks would call “bobos” and Paul Fussell would call “Category X” – and that their funk soul brothers reside in such places as Manhattan’s Upper West Side, (also now Brooklyn), Cambridge, Massachusetts, Berkeley, California and the like. Selfsame Canadian progressives would be crestfallen – so sad! – were they to learn that despite Canadians’ declarations of friendship and brotherhood – so earnest and sincere! – that many people in such places don’t even know – nor care – what street Canada is on.

      1. The left is part of the “internationale” where globally aligned statism is an end in itself. Being in Canada is likely a downer to the Carney as it’s to him, a global backwater that relies on the icy resource sector. He’s a proud bankster who came to fame in the ponzi-counterfeit industry of fiat currency central banking. In keeping with his progressive creds, he aspires to eliminate “useless eaters” (WEF’s words) through his green theocracy zealotry. The Laurentian elite have found their candidate.

        1. I hesitate to use the world “elite” because to me, it connotes something of excellence that one could rightly aspire to, whereas the people to whom you refer are largely a quasi-parasitic class of rent-seekers, petits fonctionnaires, system-gamers, plodding placeholders and other small-souled dullards.

Carney – whose virtual Coronation by adoring Liberals seems (so far) increasingly certain – is not an untalented guy but his expertise is in being a nakedly-ambitious, bubble-dwelling, platitude-mouthing bureaucrat and I have a hard time in seeing how a potential Carney premiership would be any different from Justin’s.

Anyone who envisions Carney as the potential “savior” of the federal Liberals because he is “smart” has never been around many actual smart people.

  4. The frigging guy announces his leadership run on US TV, his vision the usual top-down we’re all going to die without giant incompetent government, that Poilievre is a threat to that, incompetent government that is.

  5. “He’s either shameless, or lacks self awareness. More likely however, he just believes his own BS.”

He has the same brand of insanity as Nicholas Stern. Lord Stern made some basic arithmetic errors in computing the future risk of climate change. For the last two decades, the AGW gang has been using his inflated and erroneous risk factors.

This includes Carney. So he’s just another bankster who likes humbugging the rubes with fake numbers. So the choice is simple: he’s either an idiot or a liar. Remember, they don’t call this scum Carbon Tax Carney for nothing.

    1. No, actually I agree with the columnist, though he did leave out strategic words to quantify why it is “Canadians” who are the problem.
      Leftist Canadians.
      Voting leftist Canadians.
Middle aged women who vote for a hairstyle and a name only.
Low Info Canadians that vote for Utopian Ideology and narratives.
Yes, those Canadians Are The Problem.

      1. That’s not why they wrote the article, it’s called Telford getting someone to polish the turd so Carney can pick it up.

  6. Carney’s a Climate Change Cultist and an Elitist.
    That’s a dangerous combo.
Such is his contempt for the great unwashed, he prefers using the stick over the carrot to make them toe his line and he has written/stated as much.
His 15 Minute City will be dark and it will be cold.

  7. His appearance on the Daily Show is being feted by a host of Liberals as a magnificent performance. But pretty much anyone looks great if they are tossed nothing but puffball questions. I’m surprised that Jon Stewart didn’t lean over and kiss him. Now that Carney is the star candidate, it’s as if nine years of Justin never happened. My prediction is that Justin will become “the name that will not be mentioned” during the upcoming Liberal campaign.

    1. They’re following the Harris playbook of celebrity endorsements . Next step is torqued polls showing how Carney is gaining amazing support from average Canadians.

      1. Don’t call them “torqued polls”, call them “permission structures.”

I recently learned about the concept of “Permission Structures” defined as “an emotional and psychological justification that allows someone to change deeply held beliefs and/or behaviors while importantly retaining their pride and integrity.”

        https://modelthinkers.com/mental-model/permission-structure

Consensus-fetishizing Canadians – never being an existentially self-confident people and not having a clearly-articulated Rebel Tradition that glorifies the non-conformist – are TOTAL SUCKERS for Permission Structures.

This, however, can go both ways: witness people you never thought would do so, now publicly mouthing doubts about say, immigration and multiculturalism that would have been condemned as ‘racist’ and ‘xenophobic’ even mere months ago.

        People are sheep.

    2. Carney goes on the Daily Show – a show known for it’s mockery of Trump. What a stupid choice if you want to lead the country.

The Bong begged Jen Psaki for a spot on her show. The 5th rated show on MSNBC…. I guess he couldn’t get on Fox – a place Trump might see him.

    3. “I’m surprised that Jon Stewart didn’t lean over and kiss him”

Only because Carney didn’t drop his drawers and proffer his arse.

  8. Looks like there isn’t going to be a single leadership candidate that isn’t a close affiliate of the megalomaniac, control freak class. I kinda thought that one of Trudeau’s former MPs who loathe him might throw their hat in the ring. Someone like Wilson-Raybould, Philpot, etc. would be able to genuinely claim to be an outsider that wanted to clean up the Liberal Party. Then again, I suppose that no one with integrity wants to have to explain or defend the incompetence and corruption of the Trudeau government and its destructive political policies. The $350,000 entrance fee might have deterred them too.

    1. Well, looks like Gould (airhead) and Twitchy Midget will be in the race, both will be basically running on Trudopian policies without saying so.
The other midget Champagne, isn’t running. Krusty Klark faceplanted before reaching the starting line.
Of course, this will be a clown show coming down to the evil witch insider vs the elitist insider. Both are toxic to the ROC, though I suspect that Carney will be slightly more appealing to visit terms, despite his old balding white guy visuals.

      1. He’s another climate change fanatic – or as I call them corporate class environmentalists – who will continue to destroy the livelihoods of regular people while the upper class rakes in the profits.

        1. No argument there. At this point, there are 3 parties splitting the Climey Changey fanatics vote, so, let them keep split up. All are bonkers.
Side note, it surprises me that LIEberals aren’t popular in Victoria, given the dipper commie and green commie contingency there. Not commie enough I suppose.
There really must be something in the water, the typical Victorian just wants more, more, more socialism, as their Nirvana to all perceived problems. From voters to the “news” editorials, there is nothing that total socialism cannot solve, virtuously and perfectly.

          1. The liberals used a ranked voting system, so it doesn’t matter if there’s a three way split.

Lowest vote total drops out and their votes go to the voters’ second choice.

Repeat until one candidate gets at least 50% plus 1 vote

  9. Ignatieff 2.0 on steroids.
The Honourable member from the BBC.
So, the Lieberals could be going from wokester feminist clown world supporter to old balding billionaire elitist white guy.
    What could possible go wrong?

  10. The whore media are in full Carney mode . The sheep will fall in line like they always do . PP won’t have an easy time no matter what the polls say .

  11. An “outsider”.

    Right…

    To what? Honest living?

The guy’s been the head of two “legal” counterfeiting operations, and creates inflation for a living.

Yet another POS who creates problems for the average person. On purpose.
