1. There is actually a bar that I’ve been to on the Lower East Side of Manhattan called “The Back Room.” It is a legitimate speakeasy that was open during prohibition. There are hidden doorways behind bookcases, quick exit stair cases outside the basement windows. The whole deal. They don’t have a sign out front, and it’s a bit of trick to find the entrance. They serve your beer bottle inside a brown bag. Not a great bar, but a fantastic historical atmosphere.

   The “Speakeasy” was behind the soft drink business in the building. They do tours and it’s good Pilsner.
