  1. The temporary Xmas focussed GST cut and $250 rebate will amount to zero dollars for us. I looked at the list and didn’t see anything the two of us would buy. We won’t qualify for the rebate either, which is fine, but I’m sure many senior citizens, the disabled and the self-employed are angry. I get the feeling the Trudeau Liberal-NDP government didn’t give this vote buying gimmick a thorough investigation. It’s like a bunch of college kids got high and said ‘Hey, dude, this sounds like a vote winner”.

    A hasty, desperate 6-8 billion dollar debt-financed and temporary stimulus package to try to buy people’s votes with their own money -and- make Trudeau’s economic numbers look slightly less worse, also temporarily. Like CERB, I wonder how much fraud and stealing will accompany this program.

  3. The notion that they want to cut the GST on -food- as a big favor to us plebs makes me grind my teeth. They even tax food in Canada, and they’ve done it for a long, long time.

    2. The GST/HST rate on “basic groceries” is zero per cent. I haven’t looked at the list but there wouldn’t be much left that’s taxable at the full rate.

  4. If you make $150k or less you qualify for the $250 , so buddy and his wife who both make $150k will qualify. The Bong says over 18m Canadians will qualify – that’s like 1/2 the tax base. Bullshit.

    Fresh food is already not taxed so things like produce, meat etc don’t attract tax. If you look at your grocery bill there is not a lot of tax unless you have a lot of boxed items or processed food.

    Beer and wine are exempted…the whole tax holiday is just another librano stunt. They are completely out of touch with the man on the street.

    The oppositions should demand the government put the reduction into place today, and they will allow the government to pass the enabling legislation, once they have submitted the Liberal Slush Fund documents into the house. After all, the government who hasn’t passed the capital gains tax hike still demands people pay it, and now it’s retroactive to July.

  14. Ndp mp julian in the House on Friday called out the Liberals for not including seniors and those with disabilities in the tax holiday scam.
    So will ndp support the Liberals when the bill hits the floor? Most likely yes.

So Trudeau is willing to borrow 6 billion to hide the slush fund documents, hide the traitors names, hide what happens at the Winnipeg lab, fire any minister that speaks truth, he is dying to find out the names of the whistleblowers who told of Foreign interference, no problem jailing innocent protestors for mischief for 2 years on made up charges.   23. If you’re doing OK financially, a few bucks plus or minus at the grocery store isn’t really noticeable.

    If you are struggling financially, you might save a few bucks on groceries. That’s appreciated, no doubt.

    If you are hurting so bad for money that you can’t afford to buy food, think of all the money you’re saving on food!

    (I’m starting to get the hang of this liberal logic thing.)
