The goal is to silence the public; they just need a few individual cases. The solution is for hundreds of thousands, in public, to announce something horrible about Starmer.
If the law is being used against you for specific comments that someone finds offensive, feel free to use that same complaint mechanism against the powers that be where you find their comments offensive. You will be unsuccessful but if you show a willingness to fight back, they may start getting second thoughts. I made a hate crime complaint against the current Prime Minister for his “anti-science, racist, misogynist” comments and it went through the formal process in Ottawa with a final response that as I was not a resident of Ottawa, they could not accept my “hate crime incident” complaint. But I hope that it would make them more careful in their application of the law.

• the right to confront an accuser (a victim IS an accuser)
• the right to know the nature of the accusation
• the right to know the nature of the evidence
• the right to speak in any way that isn’t slanderous
• the freedom of conscience

Like many readers here, I’ve been trying to warn family and friends of what I thought was coming. Trump’s first victory gave me some hope that things were turning around. That hope was dashed when I saw how deeply entrenched the corruption and lust for power was imbedded. The election in the UK was an indication of how truly ignorant the masses are of the political system, especially in the birthplace of the idea of “consent of the governed”. Now with the second Trump victory I see the opposition rising up more rabid and definitely more opposed to his presidency and I have a re-newed fear “that something wicked this way comes!”. I have family members and friends, educated and intelligent, and yet they cannot accept the obvious truth that they have been fed a diet of lies and mistruths for years, some could say for decades. The next few months will be a definite period of trial and testament to confirm Trump’s nominations, on these nominations the American Constitution will rise or fall.
