  1. Ha … reading this and seeing the comment on no gas wells getting drilled in Sask took me back to the mid 90’s and my evaluation at xmas time and my boss said I didn’t drill too much in the past year. I replied “what about Crane Lake …. 60 gas wells” … the boss looked at his sheets and said “oh shit … lets talk tomorrow” and left my office.
Everything was nicely computerized on spread sheets for each geologist for easy comparison … well easy if all the data has been inputted correctly 😉
That seems like a long time ago now!!

  2. Hey Sask, we have a great refinery that I’m m sure you could buy and pack up and ship across the border.

Stelmachs white elephant election promise has only cost 12 billions.

But I’m sure you could pick it up in trade for some of that sweet sweet coal fired ‘lectricity and moving costs.

  3. It’s easy to sit on the sidelines and bitch. Once you sit in ‘THE CHAIR’ you have to deal with reality.

There are few refineries in western Canada for a reason. The Buffalo magic wand won’t change that fact.

  4. I see nothing wrong with using coal, increasing oil pumping, as one does not produce it, and there is no downside to local refining.

  5. By all means, refine petroleum in Saskatchewan. That’s a value-added operation. Then whatever is shipped out is a higher dollar product. Also, eliminating the cost of piping or shipping oil over longer distances to the refinery increases margins

*sigh* From what I’ve gathered reading here, the Canadian Goobermint would tax and regulate a refinery to the point that it couldn’t turn a profit.

I’m surprised there are any Canada Geese left in Canada. Your pollies seem to think it’s a smart idea to kill a goose to get the eggs.

  6. Separation!
    From the mess called canada!
We may have to IMMEDIATELY, just to cut the losses imposed on Alberta and Sask by the ROC when things down south go off the rails as seems to be happening.
    Interesting times.

  7. The world is moving off oil and gas and coal.

Investing in fossil fuels is investing in stranded assets with a long term NPV in the negatives.

Don’t believe me. Just look at where capital markets are investing their dollars.
Look at it. But you won’t. You will deny it. You are dwelling in the past you silly ones.

Hmmm… I guess China hasn’t gotten the memo yet.

    2. Ok, in Portugal is big push for solar PV energy. Where does all of the equipment come from? China.
      Who is funding this? Hmm?
Yet does PT have any O&G? Hmm?
      Let’s sell tomatoes.

    3. Yes Mark Carney, we all believe you (snark).
No chance in hell, not a chance, ever. Do you realise how much of petroleum goes toward transport (i.e. moving things) as opposed to producing things (i.e. plastic). Less than 40% of petroleum goes into the gas tank. Even if you go fully electric you will still need all that plastic, likely a hell of a lot more as plastic weighs less than metal for a lot of application. What lubricants do you think all those bearings will use- whale oil? What is your phone made of- wood? Your dildo – cotton?

      1. Frenchie, very few people think much anymore, if they did wind, solar, and green idiocy would be laughed off the market.
