This video has little to do with energy and everything to do with how this country’s military has gone to hell in a handbasket. Dr. Jordan Peterson speaks with retired a retired three-star admiral and former head of the Royal Canadian Navy, a three-star army general and a retired air force major. They tear apart DEI and the woke reality in the military today.
If you care at all about the Canadian Armed Forces, or ever served, you should watch or listen to this.

Yes we need small modular reactors, but we need damn big ones too; where are they being built?
The West has become incapacitated by welfare, nimbies and environmentalism – all suburbanite attitudes, where everything comes from governments, supermarkets and Amazon.
Bruce Power is planning to build four large power reactors at the Bruce site in Ontario. The specific technology has not yet been chosen, but the Canadian Nuclear Safety Commission will be holding hearings on this in 2025.
Ontario Power Generation will be building three small SMRs at the Darlington nuclear station. Hearings by the CNSC will be held on this in 2025, along with renewal of the Darlington station operating licence. The technology chosen for the SMR is the BWRX-300 designed by GE Hitachi Nuclear. This reactor technology is also the one intended to be built in Alberta, Saskatchewan and New Brunswick.
How long will those hearings take? Can construction begin without those hearings? When are they expected to go online?
Keep in mind that the existing regulatory culture has been designed through decades of environmental activism to prevent/ delay/ make prohibitively expensive any nuclear infrastructure. Look for a minimum ten years of obstruction. Another variation on ‘the process is the punishment’. Time to look at the drag our regulatory system has become.
Our 1st world problems are tuning us into 3rd world shiteholes.
Silly me. Pushing the play button.
Yeah. I don’t know if I want to start my week pissed off.
“…how this country’s military has gone to hell in a handbasket.”
Inconceivable!
That’s impossible, over the years we have imported millions of fighting age men from China, India, and the Middle East into Canada, how could we possibly not have enough military recruits? Dum Dee Dum Dum DooooH.
Why would they fight FOR the colonial power they came here to overthrow?
True, the military has been gutted and transitioned by post modern nihilism. I disagree with these “experts” on their motivation to “carry our weight” with alliances that tend to be driven by the dreams of deranged (Hilary Clinton) neocons thinking that they could militarily accomplish anything in the ME and growing NATO to dismember the Russian Federation. Other than NORAD, I question why we belong to any of them, particularly the UN. I also question the logic in building yesterday’s military for future conflict.
As someone who was in the military and involved with both NATO and NORAD I concur. Stay in NORAD . Leave NATO . No longer required for Canada.
@John Chittick
“…….building yesterday’s military for future conflict.”
I have an idea, we should empty our jails and mental institutions and send them to enemy nations, then we should flood those nations with drugs like fentanyl while simultaneously bribing their corrupt leaders with huge payoffs to let it happen!
Well, the canadian government seems to want to build a dozen diesel powered subs to patrol the arctic, hopefully there isn’t too much ice for them to get through to recharge.
Nato should have ceased to exist on the day after the warsaw pact disbanded and the wall fell.
I left the RCN?CAF in 1977 after 13yr 10mo & 2days. The destruction of the Canadian navy has been going on longer than/before that.
I remember when they took HMCS Bonaventure out of service. Trudeau 1 was PM
I don’t care what happens anymore. It’s no longer my country, it’s no longer my problem.
@Rusty Shackleford
That’s the fastest growing trend in Canada!
RS I agree. When Killer Cretchen was dictator I was ashamed to admit I was Canadian. When Shit Head took over I became a British Columbian.
I don’t know if anyone recalls, but Vice Admiral Mark Norman was sacked as the head of the Canadian Navy because he thought we actually needed ships, like, now, that work. Unbelievable, the audacity of such an admiral.
Oh, he ‘retired.’ Not really.
https://nationalpost.com/news/canada/feds-rang-up-1-4m-in-legal-costs-during-failed-prosecution-of-mark-norman
Personally, I think Norman is part of the problem. Like thousands of Canadians, I opened my wallet to donate to his cause via kickstarter or some such, so that he could fight the government in court. I did so because the story needed to be told: not only was he treated horribly, but the larger issue of our Kafkaesque Defence policies needed a public airing. What did he do? He and his lawyer leveraged the war chest that Canadians raised on his behalf to settle out of court, and make it all go away. He had the opportunity to fight, but instead he tucked tail and retreated to the public speaking circuit. Just as Andrew Leslie kept his mouth shut until the last possible moment in the Norman case (popping out from off camera to shake his hand), Norman was only too eager to sign an NDA and fade away. These are the senior officers of the CAF: craven and without integrity.
Canadas socialism cant afford a proper military.. Spend the money to let it sit.. Because actually using it costs even more money.. Training, logistics, maintenance.. Its a money pit iceberg where most of the cost is underwater..
When you borrow your loan payments you are in no position to be buying modern weapons platforms.. Unless your name is Ukraine..
And what option does Ukraine have? Do nothing? Not fight? Let Russia steamroll over them? Perhaps you forget the last time Russia controled Ukraine, they let something like 6 to 10 million people, mostly Ukrainians, starve in the Holodomor? That’s more than Jews in the Holocaust. They’ve got every reason to fight Russian aggression, and the rest of the world should be paying for these things. Because if we don’t, it’ll be our kids fighting the Russians next. And my kids are 17 and 20.
Ukraine should have thought of that BEFORE they were bombing and slaughtering Russian-speaking people in the Donbas … err, the CIA should have thought of that … err, Victoria Nuland should have thought of that …
@Kenji
The funny thing is that it was quite obvious that Russia in 2022 in no way shape or form had a land based military capable of attacking western Europe much less the world like all the Globalist Elites scare mongered everyone. Nor did they appear to intend on it.
Today they are a much more capable land army, ignoring the fact that they have always had the capability to “wipe Europe off the map” nuclear wise if they so chose.
It sounds like the US is at least is starting to back off a little and let this settle as the regional conflict it always was. Otherwise if Europe decided to continue pushing it, I’m guessing it will not go very well for them considering the momentum of the last 2.5 years.
They’ll blame the Ukraine surrender, err “stalemate” ,,, on Trump … and the “far right”.
I don’t believe the US military will deploy their pension-seeking Sissies into a war with Russia. It could get more painful than the VietNam and Afghanistan surrenders combined.
Although the Russians would happily collect $60B in American armaments left on the battlefield.
