  1. My Grandfather would take me to the steam threshers convention every year. He would love to see that.PS He owned two steam cars.

  2. Thanks, Kate for that.
Reminded me of the days I worked at an agricultural museum, 1981 or ’82. 21 years old, fresh out of millwright school. I used to take care of many of those old steam traction engines; we ran as many as 16 of them for the summer shows. All original.
At one point, someone in the Threshermans Club challenged the local farm machinery dealer to a competition. The dealer showed up with the biggest new diesel tractor he had. I think we had the big Hart-Parr steamer. The club attached at chunk of huge logging chain between the two drawbars. The referee dropped the flag.
I still remember the grin on the guys face when he threw the Johnson bar forward and opened the throttle. That old steam tractor pulled the diesel tractor backwards, all 8 wheels turning forward, digging huge grooves in the football field. Alas, at the 60 yard mark he ran out of steam, and the diesel pulled him back. We were limited to using cordwood at 100psi steam pressure, not coal and 200psi..
    Energy density, indeed.

  3. The video says, “… but has been totally rebuilt”

I watched some stuff on that tractor, the Case 150, that says they were made for road work, and were all scrapped a long time ago – there were only a few of them made. And the guy, a young’un and local prodigy who’s built-up his own machining service, didn’t “rebuild” it because there wasn’t one to rebuild – he got hold of the blueprints and built that tractor from scratch. Good on him!

    1. Now if they only find the plans for Avro Aero!!!

That would bring out a whole new era of young wanna-be new pilots…and dreams of older wanna-be pilots. Like me.

  4. Geez! Level land! And no stones! Must be in heaven … it sure as hell isn’t in North Glengarry!

  5. Obviously, it wasn’t an attempt, it successfully pulled 44 without issue. And last year he hooked it to 50 bottoms, breaking the record again.
As mentioned above, yes, it is a perfect replica built from scratch. I seen it in person at the Rollag show the yr Kory finished it, very impressive.
