When it comes to abuses suffered by indigenous school kids boarded in private homes, it’s apparently not the job of the mainstream media to actually investigate such claims, but rather to accept them uncritically. Anything beyond that would just delay the writing of cheques by the federal government, or so it would seem.
Now, the suffering of boarding home survivors is being recognized and compensated under a Federal Court-approved $1.9-billion settlement agreement with Ottawa.
Survivors are also allowed to submit more than one claim — the first to get $10,000 for attending a boarding home, and a second for additional compensation based on the abuse suffered.
But like the day school settlement, and unlike the residential school claims process, the claims process for boarding home survivors is entirely paper-based and won’t involve hearings with lawyers.
I’m consoled that this isn’t being paid to foreigners, directly anyway. Local grievance grift uber alles.
Eljay, I’m a deposed Nigerian Prince who recently began identifying as an indigenous school kid boarded in a private home. Do you happen to know how this is being paid? I was hoping to submit a couple of hundred claims. If you can help me pull this off, I’ll split 50/50 with you.
Those perceived votes from the grievance industry are getting desperately expensive for the unborn. I see a default or runaway inflation cheered on by future generations unwilling to assume the debts of today’s psychopathic left.
$400,000,000 for being a participant victim in the programs.
up to $8,000,000,000 for the abuse suffered
$50,000,000 for a continuing grift centre.
How much are the lawyers getting on top of all that?
What does Pierre Poilievre have to say about this? He must be outraged by this flagrant misuse of Canadian tax dollars, right?
Right?
Do you understand the concept of ‘never tell your opponents anything useful before an election’?
“Do you understand the concept of ‘never tell your opponents anything useful before an election’?”
Nice dodge.
Never tell your supporters what you truly think/plan on doing, either.
“Never tell your supporters what you truly think/plan on doing, either.”
LOL…yeah, that too…
Problem is, with the recent admissions by native bands of “no evidence of any bodies” and the revelation that the federal government had already paid these bands *millions* of dollars to do searches (which they have not done) despite there being zero evidence of any wrongdoing (and where were the RCMP investigating those allegations of murder and illicit burials?), now would seem to be the PERFECT time for a canny political leader to come out and announce that investigations will be authorized to ascertain how Canada was coerced into delivering those funds and what happened to them.
Why not? The public WOULD support it now; there are enough of us who already knew the truth about this scam and millions more who suspected it but were too timid to say so for fear of being viciously attacked by the left.
I won’t hold my breath waiting for the CPC to commit to any action on this.
I see. You two want PP to lose the next election.
I don’t think most people would agree with this position. A former mla in Manitoba wanted to do a presentation at a Brandon city school board meeting about the book “Grave Error: How The Media Misled Us” He was basically told he couldn’t do that and when he tried to introduce the subject was told he may be asked to leave if he tried to talk about this. My friend who works for the school division told me that we can’t be talking about this kind of thing when we are in period of “truth and reconciliation.” I asked her what it was that they wanted. She said an apology and that they had been promised things that they had not yet received. I believe there are still a lot of people who still don’t think that we’ve been had and believe everything that the media told them.
cgh:
If telling the truth means losing the election, then the country is already lost.
Lies are acceptable, this is Canada.
This country truly is lost. Think the election is irrelevant. Just something to hang our very small hope on.
It was the sainted JWR, who as Justice Minister, decreed that the First Nation claimants couldn’t be challenged leading to the generous settlements Do you feel generous?, never mind the Libs will be generous on your behalf and on your dime.
I’m always amazed that people are quick to confer ‘sainthood’ on those that do one good thing, without examining all of their past actions. I know it is difficult because the media is reluctant to reveal all. JWR did the honourable thing by standing up to the PM, but her views on most issues would be opposed to anything conservative.
“JWR did the honourable thing by standing up to the PM, but her views on most issues would be opposed to anything conservative.”
That’s for sure. Her take on the Colton Boushie thing was appalling.

Wake up White people
The Libs are using all of these issues to divide. Trying to find Wedge issues to show how noble and caring they are but the really don’t give a f*ck about anything but staying in power.
Well good, it’s immoral to let a sucker keep his money and Canadian voters and politicians are suckers.
And the pickup truck dealerships are rubbing their hands.
Yup….and many of those new trucks will end upside down in the ditch.
And the paving companies, BRP, Fishing boat manufacturers, and the ATV industry. – Cycle of life in the north.
This seems perfectly logical.

believe all women , believe all natives
I was raised in a Foster Home after my alcoholic single father was unable to feed me. Where’s my payday? And if the amount of my settlement $$$ depends on the level of abuse? Then, I assure you … I will spin hair-raising stories of abuse. Evidence? We don’ need no stinken’ evidence!
Which is why so many people do not want to be foster parents any more. Who needs trouble in the future by some person who can tell a horrific story.
You know where they place Indian kids nowadays because white people are so nasty? Fresh off the boat immigrants who barely speak English, that’s who. Mind you, English is colonizing. Much more useful to speak Cree and Tagalog.
What? No Frenchies?
As I was growing up, I had a neighbour and an uncle who raised Indian kids. Those kids were treated just like family members. My aunt and uncle threw a wedding for their foster kid. I wonder if she is claiming her $10,000?
Of course she will. I think anybody would to get 10K for free.
Evidence Is Just A Tool Of Colonial Oppression …
… so we won’t look for any near burned out churches.
“Evidence Is Just A Tool Of Colonial Oppression …
… so we won’t look for any near burned out churches.”
100+ churches burned or vandalized, and how many charges have been laid?
Invented and promoted by unknown and unnamed aboriginal knowledge keepers, underwritten by a compliant federal government consumed by the soft bigotry of low aboriginal expectations masquerading as respect for “indigenous knowings,” and constantly publicized by a compliant and incurious legacy media unwilling to carefully probe any of the alleged findings, tales like those debunked here reveal that this fruitless search for missing children is very much alive.

That’s a lot of TVs and F150s and take out dinners.
And empty liquor bottles.
Every human born, race, color or creed has abs. Therefore every human is an ab user. I’ll leave now.
If they didn’t have such crappy parents they wouldn’t have been wards of the state. Sue the tribes.
I taught many Native kids who had been placed in foster homes. I remember two brothers, who became part of “the system” when they were under 10 years old. One was found unconcious in a puddle of his own blood, and the other had a huge percentage of his body covered in cigarette burns. So they should have been left in their caring indigenous culture? We (citizens of this so-called country) are sued because we removed them, and if we had left them, we would have been sued over that. Whatever happens, it is our fault.
I remember years ago, after some tragedy – I forget if it was youthful suicide or street deaths – some Native mom wailing about how we need a government program to keep 12 year old Native girls off the street.
Sweetie….there is a program. It’s called “Parenting.”
It’s also called “Giving a sh** BEFORE the tv cameras are turned on for your wailing and blaming.”
Or we can put some kids in an imperfect Foster system. It ain’t always the best, but the threshold for putting a child into that system is pretty high, and your people are often crossing that threshold.
Remember the “missing and murdered indigenous Women” inquiry? An RCMP commissioner lost his job for making the factual observation that the vast majority of murdered Native women were murdered by their own people.
So….it’s Whitey’s fault if they are taken to safety, and it’s Whitey’s fault if they are left in misery and abuse, (not all Native homes are that way, but many are…) aaaaand it’s Whitey’s fault if we mention that when it comes to violence and abuse against Natives, the majority of the perps are Native.
Got it.
Doncha love the new Social Contracts?
“Whatever happens, it is our fault”
l can top that. l was assaulted at a VIA train station by a drunk on my way home from a church meeting.
he was on his way home from the bar.
he kicks me in the leg to get me out of line, cops show up blame the entire thing on me and ever since, DOZENS of jurisdictions flatly refuse to tell me what lm supposed to do.
stay, the fight resumes and l get charged.
leave to deescalate and preserve my well being cops accuse me of trying to (exact quote) “get away”.
damned if l do damned if l dont. l got blamed for not defending myself as a kid and blamed when l do as an adult.
15 godforsaken YEARS trying to pry a simple ‘stay or leave which is it’ and l get blamed for them refusing to clarify because of my (exact quote) “tone of voice”.
it truly genuinely delights me and great sense of satisfaction when cops are shot dead. l called Tranna TWICE told them how richly entertaining it was when northrup took on the actions and appearance of a carjacker and got his ass RUN OVER
“Remember the “missing and murdered indigenous Women” inquiry? An RCMP commissioner lost his job for making the factual observation that the vast majority of murdered Native women were murdered by their own people.”
We need a leader with the courage and integrity to pledge another inquiry…one that will give equal voices to both sides of the story this time.
(and again…I won’t hold my breath…)
How can they say that “Evidence Is Just A Tool Of Colonial Oppression” without providing any evidence?
This has to stop.
A referendum on whether special status for native should be abolished along with the Indian Act.
It passed in Australia, and a vote is coming up in New Zealand.
Guilty white Liberals will spend other people’s money forever.
Enough.
Jean Chretien proposed that in 1980. The idea’s been dead ever since.
White paper is from 1969 – 70 … you are off by a decade. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/1969_White_Paper
The 1969 White Paper (officially entitled Statement of the Government of Canada on Indian Policy) was a policy paper proposal set forth by the Government of Canada related to First Nations. Prime Minister Pierre Trudeau and his Minister of Indian Affairs, Jean Chrétien, issued the paper in 1969. The White Paper proposed to abolish all legal documents that had previously existed, including (but not limited to) the Indian Act, and all existing treaties within Canada, comprising Canadian Aboriginal law. It proposed to assimilate First Nations as an ethnic group equal to other Canadian citizens. The White Paper was met with widespread criticism and activism, causing the proposal to be officially withdrawn in 1970.
Bring it back.
Canadians have had enough of grifters and guilty liberals.
Nothing like that has passed in Australia or New Zealand.
