Ha Ha …. you can always tell when Gonedyke is lying …. her lips are moving!
Calgarians had a choice when they elected Gondek as Mayor. Just as they had a choice when they elected Nenshi as Mayor before her. Repeatedly. And warch as many, many Calgarians will support Nenshi as the new leader of the provincial NDP. Sympathy for Calgary is somewhat difficult.
And when only 20-25% bother to vote.
The last election had 15 candidates, the top two being sitting councillors.
Have the open zoning plebicite and mayor ballot on the same day.
Dominion voting machines ensured the victory for our Mayor. It had nothing to do with how many came out to vote and to whom they cast their ballot for mayor, It had everything to do with who counted the vote.
We, in many countries, provinces, states and cities, haven’t had a fair vote since paper ballots were counted by hand.
Actually, most of the population does not care, as in they could not be bothered to have a position.
It is also true that, as per recent reports, the low life politicians do what they want to and the questions of how, why, where, what, be damned. They could not care less. They will be reelected since the population does not care.
There are not enough of those that care, you gotta hava certain critical mass to get noticed.
The media cartel’s only interest is in masturbating the, whatever is left of those that pay attention to them, mind.
It is their only interest.
Most of the so called ‘journalists’ don’t know what day it is if you don’t tell them.
Wile E. Jyoti
Wow, just another day of liberal incompetence while spending our money.
The Spawn wants housing for his Islamic importation efforts and Calgary is already well under way for that demographic. Leftist municipalities (almost all of them and in BC they don’t have a choice) – all want densified (15 minute to come) cities, unused bike lanes, public transit boondoggles, woke art, paid parking in front of your house, it’s all part of the template. Pods and bugs still to come.
Bringing party politics to civic elections would prevent 15 candidates from splitting the majority votes.
Which is why folks like Nenshi / Gondek and their ilk oppose it.
An argument I had with my Regina family 20 years ago centred around, AB would get more from the federal gov’t if they’d vote Liberal… well that discussion went sideways pretty quick!
and… when someone in the news uses the phrase, “absolutely nothing to hide..” it sure sounds too close to what P.Diddy had to say about his recent legal troubles, “let me be absolutely clear: “I did not do any of the awful things being alleged…”
*Absolutely everything … https://x.com/HillaryClinton/status/1782400479743324603?lang=en
are you unaware that the NDP runs candidates in municipal elections? and provide support to them? including “volunteer” union members?
And that is why the left has set their hair on fire due to Smith’s push for political parties in municipal elections. The NDP has been playing Trojan Horse for years.
Crooked Bastards!
Who knew!!
The argument supporting “party politics” in civic elections is about having “Nenshi, NDP” or “Gondek Liberal” on the ballot and not simply Nenshi or Gondek” with backdoor funds provided by the parties and their union supporters. It’s the same back door that has union dues supporting some causes (like Nenshi and Gaza) and not strictly for union events like training or their “holiday” party for the kids.
It should require party nominations to narrow the field of those who have their official party nomination, and I think that’s a good idea.
The Nenshi – Gondek types have no problem with back door money in the field, and I thought that was obvious.
Looks like there will be a few FUs as Trudeau is pushed closer and closer to the exit.
The hidden issue in all of this is the fact that the federal government taxes far too much and they use their ill gotten gain to interfere in the jurisdiction of provincial governments. Many cities (with leftist councils) are engaging in a pincer strategy to attack provincial government authority. That is really the push behind Danielle Smith’s push to put municipalities in their place. Which is exactly what is needed. The other thing that is needed is the federal government to have its tax rates dropped SIGNIFICANTLY and the tax room shifted to provincial governments. That way, the federal government extortion racket using taxpayers money can be curtailed. The feds have gone WAY past their constitutional authority far too many times.
Yep, exactly!
The State of CA has held every city hostage in the State by DEMANDING their General Plans include predetermined numbers of “their fair share” of “affordable” housing. What does the State know about “affordable” housing when they mandate multiple building codes that have skyrocketed new home prices; mandatory fire sprinklers, mandatory solar panels, mandatory all-electric appliances, mandatory low-water landscape, mandatory … mandatory … mandatory. Planning and Permit fees easily top $50,000.00 per unit. Utility hook-ups are cost prohibitive… it’s insane!! Yet the State wonders why housing is so unaffordable?
Also see: high gas and diesel prices, and high minimum wages (workers cannot even afford Taco Bell … or the drive to work).
It’s in every town and city. Cancel Kate in Fredericton took the federal cheque and changes the zoning laws too. Granny suites and apartments in every home. How to ruin neighbourhoods to virtue signal and get a bit of liberal largesse.
If this isn’t a smoking gun, I don’t know what is. Note the date of the letter.

Letter from Sean Fraser (Minister of Housing) to Calgary Mayor Jyoti Gondek
Dated September 14, 2023
Quoting, in part:
In terms of Calgary’s application, I was pleased with several of the proposals slated for discussion at Council meetings over the coming days. Particularly, I was glad to see Calgary:
-End exclusionary zoning city-wide by legalizing much needed missing middle housing such as four-unit multi-plexes, through new zoning designations creating new land-use districts;
I understand that key elements of this housing action plan will either be approved or rejected at this week’s Council meeting. In light of this, I wish to inform you that Calgary’s Housing Accelerator Fund application will not be approved unless you follow through to create the new missing middle zoning designations of H-GO and R-CG, as you laid out in your application. Otherwise said, in order to receive a positive decision from me on your application, you must end exclusionary zoning in your city.
