And some people are more treaty than others: Did you know about the British Columbia’s quiet plan to co-manage all public lands with provincial First Nations? Robin Junger talks to Mike about the B.C. NDP’s new economy-destroying legislation.
Canfor has announced the permanent closure of its Polar sawmill in Bear Lake, BC, the suspension of its planned reinvestment in Houston. This follows the announcement that one line of production will be indefinitely curtailed at the Northwood Pulp Mill.

Beyond my belief why the so-called lands of the indigenous or whatever they are called this week, encompasses the entire country Canada, when the white man first showed up there weren’t even a million of them spread out across the entire country. Why are we pandering to these people?
Like LGBT people, they’re just a cover for the heist and the get away.
Give them 10% of the looting … like the Big Guy … the Big Chief … and they’ll be happy. Let the LOOTING resume, and expand.

This is on topic.
The first load of lumber I ever hauled for Canfor was from Houston BC. Canfor has mills everywhere in BC that export J-grade lumber around the world through the ports in Vancouver. BC is destroying their own industry.
I have a condo in Fernie BC (since 1997) and we have always joked that BC stands for Bring Cash. The province is full of lazy, commie-lite socialists who want the government to “look after them” so they don’t need to work hard or think.
Beautiful skiing and landscape but terrible for anyone investing there.
There are some winners, nice folks and hard workers but the hard workers are few.
Correction. The commies running BC are destroying industry.
Also, there is a reason that whenever you go to a public performance or something these days, did you have to think the first nations for allowing you to be “on their”land
Some years back, the local lumber yard had J-grade lumber on sale, cheap, because truck had flipped and spilled it’s load. We bought 2 lifts of it, and I’m still using those 80″ 2×4’s today.
Beautiful, straight wood, mostly free of knots.
“Beautiful, straight wood, mostly free of knots.”
Yes, the kind of wood that we native British Columbians can’t even buy at our own lumber yards, dammit….
Due to public outrage the NDP shelved their change to the land act, for now, but what they’ve done so far has made BC un-investable in the forest sector. It’s mostly why BC’s largest three forest companies now produce more lumber from the US than Canada. That’s where working forests are privately owned rather than political playthings for elected Jacobins and Bolshevik tag teams of all parties. The BC NDP is also a conduit for green, US funded NGOs to have access to the power of government (multiple cabinet ministers who are “former” ENGO managers/directors). No white man (nor any other non-indigenous race) can get access to Crown timber in BC without a “relationship” with an indigenous Band’s leadership thanks to the BC NDP. The 5% considered indigenous includes everyone with status of 1/16 or better of “racial purity”. This is what happens when the political state becomes subsumed by the grievance industry (from the SCOC on down).
The NDP’s real name is CCF. Don’t know what the F stands for (thoughts are obscene) but the CC = communist cesspool. That’s what’s running the providence (into the ground).
Canadian Communist Front?
Canadian Commonwealth Federation was the actual name and is pure Orwellian newspeak. The origin was prairie populism when “progressives” were into eugenics and their preacher advocates. The envy and interest in the national socialism of the early 1930s was part of their schtick up until the war when it went into hibernation and eventually re-emerged as the NDP was radicalized in the late 60s. Today, in terms of economics and even anti-Semitism, the left is closer to fascism than anything else. Socialism became uninteresting after the fall of the Berlin Wall when the left draped in green to destroy capitalism (liberty) under a flag of religious zeal.
Last one to leave, please turn out the lights.
Dlildo and The Hag cooked up a similar plan. Blubber douggie certainly hasn’t thrown it away.
Mercifully, it looks like the BC Conservatives are leading in the polls. Not only have voters here had it with the communist NDP, but they’re equally fed up with the useless Socreds/BC Libs/BC “United” party, too.
I joined the party, sent a couple of donations, and will vote for them in the election.
Me too, however, the vote split right now still favours the commies. The Falconator needs to concede and do what’s right for BC, and that is to oust the ENDP, it’s more important than his failed political ambitions.
The media STILL claim the carbon tax in BC is popular. We were never asked. Every stupid party in BC other than the conservatives support the carbon tax and the conservatives only became a serious party this year.
“The media STILL claim the carbon tax in BC is popular.”
Some of them still even claim that the carbon taxes has reduced emissions in BC, when in fact our GHG emissions have gone *up*, not down.
I’ve been saying for years that the ENDP wants to turn BC into a giant park, but it’s worse now. It’s to be given away to the bush bunnies of course because GRIEVANCE!
And the NDP wonders why they hardly elect anyone beyond the coast. Note to Kevin Falcon, FOLD THE TENT, we’ve tuned his Unitedliberalsocreds out.
There’s no substantive policy difference between libdipperunited and the NDP. None.
Comanage sounds expensive and overly complicated.. Working from home, much?.. Who is responsible?.. All of us and none of us.. Feathering your bed..
Oh joy! Now we can look forward to the Great Turtle being consulted before we touch any of its precious cargo. Sheesh. I guess our culture cannot go backward fast enough.
“co-manage all public lands with provincial First Nations”
Because everybody with 30% Indian blood is born with a deep understanding of resources management, population dynamics, ecology and DIDN’T starve to death when they ate all the deer.
