I’m actually thinking about doing the Rim to Rim hike of the canyon this year so am definitely interested.

  2. Saw condors near the Grand Canyon a couple of weeks ago, at the bridge near Lees Ferry. Nearly ten foot wingspans. Tip: north rim is a lot less crowded than more famous south rim, and views are a bit different too. But it won’t open for season until next week (snows a lot on north plateau which is nearly 9,000 ft above sea level, was snowing there on our recent visit). I find Bryce Canyon in southern Utah even more impressive, although it’s not really a canyon, it’s an escarpment with twenty miles of eroded orange-red rocks.

  3. It’s called the “Grand” Canyon because it cost exactly $1,000 to dig.
