Putting herself ahead of the planet.
Telegraph- My eco-warrior husband wants me to refuse gas and air during labour
While it had never been top of my agenda, I was happy to follow his example – swapping all our cleaning products for eco alternatives, using our bikes to get around and then more recently swapping out the diesel car for an electric one.
However, at a recent antenatal class when we learnt about baby delivery options my husband announced that there was no way I would have gas and air during labour because of the impact on the environment. I laughed out loud when he said it, assuming he was joking.

Wait until he has a semi-major/major op pending, and say “Ouch, isn’t that going to hurt without general anesthesia? Ah well, the planet will appreciate it.”
When I read this gas and air thing, what pops into my mind is a pregnant woman serial-farting next to an air conditioner.
Why are these selfish hoarders and wreckers having a child anyway, and adding another intolerable carbon load to the planet? If they were truly committed to saving the world, they would have had themselves sterilized. With a chainsaw.
Without anaesthetic, of course.
Is it wrong for me to wish an emergency C-section, with the fetal umbilical cord wrapped around the child’s neck? That perhaps … nature be allowed to take its NORMAL course by selecting this couple for no reproduction … for no extension of their defective genes?
Agree to his request under one condition.
You will be holding his testicles during labor and will squeeze appropriately to help him experience the pain you are feeling and to help you relieve the pain and stress.
A looped string can be set into place to preserve decency.
I freely offer my services to kick him in the Balls at your request.
I have known a handful of eco warrior types. They refuse all sorts of modern technology.
If you ever visit one’s house, do yourself a favor and close your eyes before you enter their bathroom.
Gas during labour. That would be unfortunate. Here’s another self-entitled woman.

“Doorley [Munroe County District Attorney] called the officer a bad name, said she did not care about going 20 mph over the speed limit and repeatedly mentioned that she was the DA.”
Eco alternative cleaning products don’t work. You buy them, try them, abandon them, but you’re afraid to throw them out because they’re eco friendly. And they aren’t very eco-friendly either.
No way that pathetic non man knocked her up in any case.
So they are giving up plastics, too? Like rayon, polyester, nylon, thermoplastics? And they no longer have computers, or TVs, or cellphones or an EV?
Hypocrites!
It took her 10 years to realize heck’s an econazie!!
Break his leg.
Anonymous author = bullshit column. None of the story is true.
Click generator most likely.
However good mockery of the zealots
I’m with Jamie…not buying it. “anonymous authour” has bullshit written all over it.
My wife refused all forms of drugs and most interventions while having our children. She used hypnosis. You don’t have to have gas and air. However that is up to the wife to decide not the husband.
Man: How much for a tooth filling?
Dentist: $200
M: Is there anyway it could be less?
D: If I do it without freezing it would be $100
M: Okay then. Without freezing it is.
D: Can you come in for the appointment tomorrow at ten?
M: Oh it’s not for me. It’s for my wife.
The de-civilizing influence of the Green Goblins cannot be overstated. She should really forego a visit to the hospital entirely. Imagine the carbon-savings if we tore them all down, or at least insisted all surgeries be carried out without benefit of artificial lighting.
Women must make their own decisions.
I opted for natural birthing in Canada with child #1 in the 70’s, and had bought “Thank you Dr. Lamaze”, but wanted demerol as the pains became strong. It was useless, as it just made me drousy between contractions. The birth was fast, with only 2 hrs. being uncomfortable, and 2 pushes.
Child #2 was a fully natural birth in the USA. They had monitors measuring the strength of contractions, which was an interesting distraction for me, as I liked the new technology.
Hospitals in NY were not very accustomed to natural child birth. I brought my Dr. Lamaze book. The process was the same as for child #1 – fast, with 2 hrs. intense labour.
I had warned my doctor that I had my last baby quickly, but no one listened, so my child was almost born on a gurney as I was wheeled late to the delivery room. 2 pushes. Done
The doctor was amazed and asked for my book, as if it held the magic solution. I still do not understand why women in films scream in pain.
My wife was in labor for 18 hours, with our daughter. She wasn’t screaming but she most certainly did not have a good time of it. (Post delivery stitches were required…)
Consider yourself extremely fortunate.
