  1. Fabrication of clothing from animal skin is far easier than the fabrication of clothing which takes a great deal of work to generate a piece of cloth, clothing or clothes.
Industrialization in the earliest of period.
Rope and string takes fabrication as well.
Using guts to generate a strong viable string for a bow.
Which gives the advantage of not being in close quarters to get your game animals.

  2. is the suggestion that hominids arose in diverse and distant locations independently?
and that therefore life itself did NOT originate with a single ‘first ever’ living REPRODUCING cell/whatever, but rather *in different locations entirely at different times*?

if true THAT would be exceedingly profound that the rarity of the beginnings of life happened severally AND entirely identical trajectory, ie carbon based, dna, cells with nuclei etc
    gawd l love how that’s left to conjecture. . . . .

    1. is the suggestion that hominids arose in diverse and distant locations independently?

      No. It’s a transitional form.

    2. So 1.24 million years ago Hominids where one species.

Then over the next 800k years they evolved elsewhere.
Then over the next 400k year they interbred with the west Africans.

While I am curious about the circumstances that led to no interbreeding for 800k years this is all based on very limited evidence and Hominids did not arise in diverse and seperate locations.

Personally I find it more likely that different evolutions happened in different places then all evolutions happened in some lost African valley and spread from there. Blue eyes for example was probably from near the Black Sea 6-10k years ago.

  3. The paper does not say what that YouTuber says it does. It’s a single skull. Remember that the common image of Neanderthals as stooped over derived from a single skeleton which was later determined to be suffering from spinal deformities.

Don’t get your anthropology from Youtube videos, especially when they start with a heavy metal bass riff.

Frankly, don’t get your anthropology from anthropologists either. The entire field is riddled with agenda-mongering, axe-grinding and rent-seeking. Believe whatever you want about the origins of humanity, no one can prove or disprove it either way.

  4. Not getting much out of this. The idea that there was reverse gene flow isn’t new. At the end of the day, didn’t Erectus originate in Africa?
I guess what they are trying to insinuate is that the traits that are uniquely human, not shared with other hominids, evolved outside Africa and were distributed in Africa as a consequence of reverse migration. I suppose it’s possible but it’s hard to conceive that would be proved by remains but by context.

  5. Personally I don’t care for all this “Maybe”, Maybe not”, “We don’t know”…….BS….I want SETTLED science..like the Global Climate Warming Change stuff!

  6. DNA determines the proof of ancestry, and DNA has proven that archaic admixing is what had resulted in “Race” and then later mixed-race genetics.

More and more DNA evidence is showing that a probable root Homo Sapien species lived in today’s Middle East, Levant and the Caucuses region. Over many thousands of years it spread mixing with a variety of archaic early homos that lead to regional populations consisting of today’s “races”. Including the “back into Africa” theory that leads to admixing with different archaic homo’s than European or Asian admixtures.

The “Root” Homo Sapiens species likely evolved outside of Africa and consisted of archaic admixing of earlier homo populations that may or may not have originated in Africa.

    1. “… has proven …”? I’m not sure you understand how scientific theories work.

  7. Insinuating that the human race didn’t originate in Africa is proof that you approve of the ongoing genocide in Palestine. There’s no use in trying to deny it.

    1. One thing is for certain, intelligent life didn’t originate in Ottawa. Or at least it is a species at risk.

  8. This is interesting, but the narrator makes the same two or three points about 17 times, as if his script had been written by AI. This could have been a much shorter video.

    1. And repeatedly conflated human with homo sapiens. The script certainly wasn’t written by a biologist.
