Why this blog?
Until this moment I have been forced to listen while media and politicians alike have told me "what Canadians think". In all that time they never once asked.
This is just the voice of an ordinary Canadian yelling back at the radio -
"You don't speak for me."

Not cutting spending but the U.S. Woke Forces are cutting…
Breaking911 @Breaking911 1h
BREAKING: U.S. Army cuts force by 24K amid recruiting struggles
If the Canadian army cut 24,000, we would invent a new concept, anti-people. We could cut 24,000 bureaucrats and no one would notice.
As Ottawa endures yet another round of being chastised as a freeloader on global defence, Prime Minister Justin Trudeau allowed on Monday that his country has “more to do.”
More to do.
That’s Trudeau bafflegab for we won’t do a damn thing. And he won’t. He doesn’t give a flying fig about defence. His sole concern is staying in power and doing something about defense won’t help. Better to throw money at various constituencies in the hopes of buying their votes.
A pox on his house and that of all politicians in this God-forsaken imitation of a country.
honest injun.
l rarely feel this way about any national leader the case being ‘well they got the one they wanted’ re other nations.
but this one, the TURDeau, l regularly wish the f some ‘right wing extremist’ or perhaps run-of-the-mill imported gang boy puts a friggin hollow point in his f’ing head.
or in lieu of that scenario l will accept 60 pounds of jagged debris falling from 20,000 feet lands on said cranium.
lve never honestly in almost 6 decades of observing and formal study HATED a prime minister this much.
Canada can count on China to come defend its North American colony.
I have personally reassured Justin, Chrystia and Mary that they have no need for a military as we will always be there to defend their government against all opponents!
Where exactly would Canada get the money to triple its defence spending? Can you imagine paying 75% income tax on any income over $50k/year?
Dick
Both the U.S. and Canada had marginal tax rates of over 90% on top incomes during the 1950s, and Canada’s rate was over 60% throughout the high-growth years of 1940–80,
https://policyalternatives.ca/publications/monitor/how-high-should-top-tax-rates-go
I am not advocating that tax rate.
Although when I see Trudeau pull in $389,000 per year (not counting his other sources of income), part of me wishes he paid 80% marginal tax
Same for much of the big bonuses for the financial “industry” who collect fat bonuses even when their companies have to get bailed out by tax payers. If a company is too big to fail, then it’s management should get paid civil service salaries
Thoughts?
One thought. Lets put those rates out, adjusted for inflation and see what’s what. As an example, payroll taxes in the 60’s totalled 1.4%. Today it is 11.6%. That’s up almost ten times. I’ll bet you I would opt for 60’s tax rates in a heart beat.
Thoughts?
Checked the US, more accessible, top bracket kicked in at 4 million of income after adjusting for inflation. Bring it.
I wouldn’t take anything the Canadian Communists for Policy Alternatives postulates as serious. First, all of their analysis are static, and don’t take into account what people might do to lower their tax burden (see Learned Hand, and his ruling on taxation).
Why would anyone want to work more when each additional dollar you make, the government takes half, before you even get to suffer the taxes on everything?
Joe it wouldn’t matter if they “taxed” him at 100% it would add nothing to the tax base. He, like anyone who receives a pay cheque from any form of government are paid by the taxpayer. I read somewhere that there are 12 million private sector jobs in Canada. That’s 12 million out of 40 million people who actually pay taxes.
Cut the media subsidies, regional development agencies, everything to do with climate change, et cetera ad infinitum. Triple defence and lots, LOTS, left over.
From the rest of the bloated federal government bureaucracies that provide no value
No sane person wants war.
How to prevent war? It isn’t totally possible, but the best way is to be more than ready to fight. Be so strong that your enemy will think twice before attacking.
Of course, doing that will cause the loony left to call you a war monger. Their brain-dead idea is that if we lay down our arms, disband the armed forces (except for domestic purposes) and declare that we are a pacifist country, no-one will ever attack us. Thus with no need to fight we can ignore any idea of conflict preparations and ensure that the personnel are exactly in proportion (Blacks, Whites, Indians, gays, trans, male, female 78 different genders etc.) to society and everyone uses the approved correct pronouns.
A kinder, gentler military.
well Dirt, well said and VERY true at my individual level.
having been the kid who got thumped regularly (that ended in grade 7 when the recess nazi chose to join in and got the pummeling of his LIFE as in a fit of resentment and concentrated fury fueled by, what ho? egad. my 1st adrenaline rush!!! l literally beat his blonde haired blue eye hitler yout’ face in the dirt.
he was so humiliated he did not return to school but HUNG himself.
later early 20s, 1st full time job, beeline to the local Y and pack on 40 pounds of muscle. oddly, the threatening mannerism and open hostility subside. a new defensive strategy evolves. l fresolve if anyone tries to beat me up NOW, my focus and mandset akin to ‘ah shucks here we go agin. well, so be it. if’n lm agonna get my feewings hut, then BY SHYT they will PAY. at which point a cold resolve washes over me.
l can only surmise all those candidate opponents saw that and undwrwent ‘2nd thoughts’ in place up up to then the lookit this skinny weakling easy pickings, my turn this week. or is that ‘weak’ har har har . . . . is replaced with something resembleing, ‘something is off he should be nervous and quaking but he isnt does he know something we dont’
all unintentional l neither read nor use body language aka autism.
but now l know the image l created.
l liken it to the unique exquisite beauty of the ultimate irony of nuke deterrence; the FACT one is SO CAPABLE of visiting a hell on earth on the opponent, suffices to impede them doing likewise to you.
*the very nature & capability of the weapons is
central to the reason we never have to use them*
works at a global and personal level when implemented correctly.
communication is key, isnt that Right Mr Martin:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=452XjnaHr1A
to this day l know not what the outcomes would have been, but l can say l never badly lost a fistfight in my adult years, they didnt happen. a cpl draws, nothing noteworthy.
“Si vis pacem parabellum”
The US should use punitive tariffs or sanctions on any NATO country that does not meet spending goal.
Do Canadians really believe that they can send mercenaries, regular military, weapons, ammunition and financial resources to the conflict in Ukraine, and that there will not be any blowback? Bloody naive!
Trudeau is doing a better job of arming Ukraine than supporting the Canadian Forces
Mention Surrender Monkey and everyone immediately thinks of France.
Canada: “Hold my beer.”
cana-duh has a military?
The US should drop a MOAB on Harrington Lake.
Then they should kick all the Snowturds out of the USA.
Then they should shoot every Canadian satellite out of orbit.
Then the Americans should ask, “How’s that Defence Budget going?”
I’m not kidding.
We’re a disgrace and have been for decades and decades.
And no its not a slight on the service members so go shoot some blanks if you think it is.
If you are a heterosexual white male, why would you possibly ever want to serve in an organization that actively hates and demeans you?!
Canada includes the amounts paid to retired military as part of their NATO spending.
That’s against the NATO rules and I’ve never heard of anyone in the Gov’t of Canada complaining.
Canada promised they’d spend 2% of GDP and of that amount, 20% on equipment.
Canada hasn’t met that standard since Brian Mulroney was PM in 1988 though the liars employed in Ottawa say this will increase to close to 20% over the next few years. Why not? they’ve underfunded the Canadian military since 1989 and in some years under budgeted by $16 Billion each year. So they’ve got a ways to go to catching up.
I looked at “canada.ca” for some answers, and found what I believe is “wishful thinking” and lies from the gov’t of Canada as I’m aware of Canada padding the books with its amounts paid to retired members.
https://www.fraserinstitute.org/article/canada-cant-meet-nato-spending-target-without-serious-fiscal-consequences
I think it’s easy enough to make the 2% of GDP that Canada promised, if you’re willing to cut a few 100 useless programs,
and if necessary, simply stop heating the House of Parliament, the SCOC building, and of course, 24 Sussex Drive.
The will to bring up military spending is what’s lacking, and the lack of spine on this will someday return to bite Canada in the butt. I hope it’s in the Atlantic Canada’s butt, and not the B.C. butt, as I don’t care what happens to the east coast anymore.
$16 billon a year could provide for a couple of Arctic Ocean nuclear powered icebreakers and new air support this decade, never mind what they’ve shorted in the other 20 years since Mulroney was PM. Even if they cheaped out and bought SAAB Gripens for domestic air and stayed with F-35’s for use outside Canada… the rot in Canada doesn’t go away anytime soon. Does Canada have any functioning submarines?
Is anyone expecting the Nova Scotians to actually build something for the Canadian military that works or is it just another money transfer to the inept Maritimers?
Hopefully, AB/Sask. can separate from this tier 2 Country soon
Perhaps we could send Trudeau to Ukraine to help stamp out gender-diverse land mines?
Explain to me what the Canadian military is for. Screw NATO and it’s war mongering interference. Screw fulfilling American demands. They can’t legally invade us but if they wanted to, no military we could raise would stop them. Nor would they refuse to repell invaders on our behalf. We don’t need a paper tiger army, nor to we need a rough and ready woke armed force that the government can use against us the way the Ukrainian s used theirs in 2014.
Agreed
This regime is incapable of anything related to coherent thoughts on the military. We need an adult conversation on what are Canada’s defense needs. NATO is not our “defense”. Do we need floating or flying manned targets or do we pursue state of the art robotics (drones and subs) and missile and anti missile technology? How large should our standing army be versus reserves?
Right now it is an employment program for bureaucrats. A wise man once said “there will be an army in your country, the only question is if it will be yours, or someone else’s.” Probably true.
The Americans would defend us, I just pray they would keep us.
Re-arm a force that cannot recruit or train people?
To fight a “hot” war?
Who we gonna fight? And who’s gonna do the fighting?
New “canadians” who are transgender diverse enough to be immediately recruited? Ridiculous blather.
Is invasion from outside really Canada’s biggest worry? I think your enemies are already inside the borders, and maybe the military you have is working for the enemy already.
