Why this blog?
Until this moment I have been forced to listen while media and politicians alike have told me "what Canadians think". In all that time they never once asked.
This is just the voice of an ordinary Canadian yelling back at the radio -
"You don't speak for me."

Seems that you may get better bang for the buck using non medical interventions!
Added bonus, side effects likely to be reduced.
Well I for one am duly impressed; off to the IGA to pick up Oreos! I’ll be checking out Costco as well… 😉
I saw another study? – bacon lowered cholesterol better than statins.
There is no link between dietary cholesterol and blood cholesterol.
Really? Then explain the impact of the Oreos on LDL cholesterol.
This guy is a marathon runner. They stick things up their bum.
I was put on statins because of some nightmare known as “standard of care”. So based on a tiny a study with a few rats Big Pharma developed an excuse to put everyone on statins who had a history of stroke or heart issues even if they did not have high cholesterol. The excuse for this nonsense, again based solely on a single rat study, was that statins generally reduce inflammation in blood vessels in those with normal cholesterol.
I was on for three months. I had horrific cramps in my thighs that woke me up every night and caused me great pain. The neurologist treating me refused to consider stopping the statins. I finally stopped on my own after a consultation with my family doctor who told me that while he agreed I should stop because of the spasms, he would have to say I chose to stop against his advice about standard of care. The pain was immediately dramatically reduced but I continued having muscle spasms and cramps that slowly diminished in both strength and frequency over the next two years. I am assured those two years of cramps had nothing whatsoever to do with the statins I was on.
My understanding is that populations which have high LDL outlive those who have low LDL. The brain needs cholesterol.
Studies have been misunderstood by the companies which stand to gain financially from the selling of statins.
What is important is the ratio of triglycerides to HDL cholesterol; a ratio of around 2 is great, a ratio around 5 is terrible.
By going on a low processed carbohydrate diet, continuing to eat protein and good fat, I lost weight, reduced my triglyceride to HDL ratio, reduced the blood sugar markers, and became healthier. The LDL level was immaterial.
I am not a doctor.
Been on Statins twice, both times my achilles tendons went South on me. Last time it was severed, requiring surgery. I think I’ll let the Lord take me when he is ready now.
Does my prescription drug plan cover Oreos? What is my copay?
