National Post- Canada’s UN ceasefire vote reveals what we’ve become — undependable, unprincipled and foolish
The vote on Tuesday was yet another attempt to isolate and pressure Israel, and this time Canada colluded.
Politics is the art of the possible and at the UN not much is possible. Not much was ever changed by a vote by the general assembly.
It hardly needs to be said that the call for a ceasefire is a delusion. Even if Israel recognized the point made by Canada’s Global Affairs Minister Mélanie Joly, that its actions “only enhance the cycle of violence,” with whom would it negotiate a signed agreement?
I’m going to steal a little Crowder here. The United Nations has never done anything of importance or made the lives of people better. Prove me wrong.

If memory serves, Canada also voted in the UN against the founding of Israel in 1948, that time at the behest of Britain. They have never been as principled as they like to think they are. Just look at the constant, petty anti-Americanism that is a mainstay of the culture.
Like the old joke says, “Complete the following sentence; as English as fish and chips, as American as apple-pie, as Canadian as……..possible under the circumstances”.

Far from it, I have an admiration for the Jewish people, they value hard work, family, community. These are the Judeo (obviously) Christian values which formed the western world and simply made us culturally superior to other parts of the world, as evidenced by our success. What bothers me is that current Jews and Christians value their place in society more than those founding values, which has led to Jews voting Liberal in Canada and Democratic in the United States, to maintain their place.

Tell the Turks, Egyptians, Jordanians Iranians and the Arab street to quit backing Hamas. Order them to stand down and release the hostages. Tell the Arab nations to open their borders to the Palestinians, all 2 million. They have the capacity and resources to absorb every last one.
That happens and there will be peace. But the Arabs don’t really want peace do they?
They’d be happy sacrificing every last Palestinian.
