Is Judge Marie-Josée Hogue the new David Johnston? The Quebec Court of Appeals judge was appointed in early September to head the Public Inquiry into Foreign Interference in Federal Electoral Processes and Democratic Institutions, months after “special rapporteur” Johnston had concluded that an inquiry wasn’t necessary.
Sadly, Hogue now seems determined to follow in Johnston’s tarnished footsteps, using accusations of partisanship to deny standing in the first phase of the inquiry to both the Conservative party and the NDP, preventing them from questioning witnesses or seeing all the evidence presented.
Justice Hogue practiced at the same law firm as Pierre Trudeau and Jean Chretien.

Biggest problem with conservatives is they try to do things ‘right; unlike their opponents, who lie, cover up, and willfully use biased support (tainted judges & media) to excuse their activity.

The “Official” right has for years refused to acknowledge and accept that their opponents simply do not care about notions like bipartisanship, legality, fairness. We now like to explain it away as uniparty complicity and weakness, which may be a fair point, but there is another explanation.
Whereas the left conduct their activism with religious zeal, pursuing their authoritarian utopia without regard for niceties or conventions, the default position of the right is to be left alone, creating the vacuum of power the left has fully exploited. It took an imperfect Trump to expose this fundamental difference and become what many reticent grassroots conservatives had longed for – a politician who would dare challenge and antagonize the left, simply adopting a common sense approach. Yet he still fell short, underestimating the duplicity of the left and entrenched, camouflaged traitors within his administration.
Poilievre, if he lives up to his bluster, had better note Trump’s example lest he end up with a bunch of O’toole’s in his cabinet. Like Trump, he will have to also contend with an entirely hostile bureaucracy and media, plus a politically tainted judiciary. Hogue is a prime example.

If the Gov’t of Canada wanted to actually find the problem, they’d have to have someone with access to these files and who isn’t dependent upon gov’t funding in their past or present.
