    1. Afghanistan beat Russia; Vietnam beat the US; Home team advantage; Ukrainians don’t have anywhere to go; They are home;

      1. Both Russia and America achieved their goals in those theaters. Did you think that they were out to annex those places?
I suppose that you think Nixon was impeached for Watergate, TWA 800 went down from a spark in the fuel tank, and that Biden got the most votes in any presidential election, ever.

        1. “Both Russia and America achieved their goals in those theaters. ”

Neither did and russia collapsed partly as a result of the strain Afghanistan war put on them.

          1. “Neither did and russia collapsed partly as a result of the strain Afghanistan war put on them.”

You mean the strain that fighting the Afghans *and* the USA put on them. The Afghans alone would have all been dead in six months.

          2. You say “tomato”, I say “you’re boring, repetitive and have no value to add”. YW’s idiotic assertion was that russia achieved its objectives in Assholistan. No she did not. Now run along to Retardville.

        1. “I would give Russia home field advantage.”

Yes, that is because you are a piece of excrement that denies Ukrainian nationhood.

          1. Colonialbiatch said “Yes, that is because you are a piece of excrement that denies Ukrainian nationwhore.”

Please quote anywhere I have done so or admit that you are a cheap liar and a fresh steaming pile.

You really are the twit I think you are.

You’re not at all cognizant of what I said and what it intends.

And considering the fact that immediately you result to name calling and personal attacks based on straw men and fiction you made up, you’re simply not worth the bother.

          2. You just claimed that russians have home field advantage in Ukraine, hence Ukraine is russian home, hence Ukraine is russia. Go get offended somewhere else, it leaves no impression.

        2. Russia tried to buy Ukrainian “leadership”. Perhaps you are unaware of the FSB Director for subversion of Ukraine who was fired? Reportedly he was given $1 billion between 2014-2022 to “influence” leading Ukrainians in preparation of a Russian military walk in invasion.

From 2014-2022 NATO trainers were prepping Ukraine for guerilla war. Hence little leadership needed.

          Absent leadership.
          1. Never buckled from 2014 invasion to 2022 invasion.
Stayed and fought during largest attack since 1945.
Never capitulated with Russians 15 miles outside Kyiv.
Defeated Airborne, Marines, Spetznats at Hostomel Airdrome.
Sank No 1 Black Sea Flagship.
Recaptured Snake Island. Killed off Putins initial 200,000 professional Army. Killed off Putins 300, 000 Mobiks draft.
Recaptured Sumy, Karkiv, Kherson. Has the Russian Navy sunk, sinking and retreating from Sevastopole. Has their air force cleaned from over Kyiv and 40 miles behind battle lines.
          Not bad for two years.
But you could do better, eh?

          1. What absurd MSNBC talking points.

The problem with not grasping the true historical context and escalation of this regional conflict, that has been manipulated and capitalized by western Oligarch interests, is that you miss the story completely. The beginning, the middle, and of course the end.

If you think that “winning” consists of losing 20% (and counting) of your most valuable landmass, millions either killed, wounded, displaced and forever made poor, we should play some poker one day.

Like it or not, the reality is that Putin/ Russia has achieved a new standing in the Non-western world, that will catapult BRICS and OPEC+ into multi-polar powers that will drain and weaken the west at an accelerating rate unless the west changes tactics and course ASAP.

The point is that it was avoidable. Russia could have been a valuable ally at one point prior to 2008. Instead the greedy western elites decided that demonizing “Russia, Russia, Russia” was somehow in our best interests.

Ukraine and the West has lost this stupid gamble. American, Canadian, and European taxpayers are NOT going to become prosperous after the dust settles, quite the contrary. The same western Oligarchs that brought us this war will continue to disarm you, fill your streets with criminals, transgender your children, censor you, and freeze your bank accounts if you complain about it.

            Russia didn’t lose sh*t.

          2. And as it is traditional for Pauline from the Opposite World, everything she says is weapons grade bullshit.

No russia can never be an ally of the civilized. Idiotic blunder in Ukraine has accelerated russian collapse. BRICS and OPEC+ are irrelevant etc etc etc.

          3. The Bigot rant’s again.

The saddest thing for you, is that you lose any which way it turns out but will continue panting like a dog in heat right along the Party lines.

        3. ” I would give Russia home field advantage. ”

          As would most thinking people.

To simplify (greatly): Russia=Canada and Ukraine=Quebec in this conflict. 43% to 46% of Ukrainians speak Russian at home (probably 60% in the Donbas and Crimea) and 49% have relatives living in Russia.

    2. Russia already lost. After 21 months of the three day special military operation they achieved zero of their strategic objectives. At this point, even if they were to achieve them now (which they will not) the price they already paid would outweigh any potential gains.

      1. “Russia already lost. After 21 months of the three day special military operation they achieved zero of their strategic objectives. At this point, even if they were to achieve them now (which they will not) the price they already paid would outweigh any potential gains.”

You just keep telling yourself that, little guy. Just keep repeating “Russia Lost!” as many times as you need to to keep yourself from bursting into tears when the inevitable territorial negotiations start.

        1. Russian gas sales halved. Russian oil sales volume wise, holding…except for the money part. Mainstay Ural oil prices collapsing 35% in last 75 days. $84—->$54. Why do you think Putin flew to the Saudis to beg for a oil production cuts? He got nothing.
Wars are expensive. Putins cash cow is drying up. Normal countries can float bonds world wide to finance wars. Russia can’t. No one will buy their bonds.
President for life Putin is joining his other loser President for Life success stories like Venezuela, N . Korea, Iran.
Hes had a military failed coup by his most successful military leader. Like some true world African country.
Sweden just opened all its bases to the US.
His dysfunctional security clown show just further pissed off Finland by forcing immigrants, and cutting pipelines and cables.
Germany is doubling its military support in 2024. When Congress passes the Ukraine support bill it will be almost double of the 2023 appropriation.

Yep. Russia. Just beaming with a bright and shining 2024 future.

          1. “Yep. Russia. Just beaming with a bright and shining 2024 future.”

As opposed to Ukraine’s 2024 future? There may be no ‘winner’ here depending on your interpretation of the outcome, but only one nation is going to end up controlling more territory than when they started. Guess which one?

          2. “There may be no ‘winner’ here ….”

Hallelujah. The gears have turned for the first time and a thought (singular) occurred. It is like watching monkeys using tools for the first time.

      1. Neither here nor there. Just ping pong while orc planes begin to drop due to lack of access to civilized service and spares.

    1. David – Go to Hollywood, learn to tell a story. She was confused. They asked her to speak without a script.

  1. Carson Block, the head of Muddy Waters, a financial investigative firm, issued a negative report saying Blackstone Mortgage Trust may go bankrupt next year:
    https://ca.marketscreener.com/quote/stock/BLACKSTONE-INC-60951400/news/Muddy-Waters-is-short-Blackstone-Mortgage-Trust-REIT-45515609/

Muddy Waters gained fame in exposing corrupt companies such as Canada’s SinoForest, NQ Mobile, etc. Block’s thesis is that Blackstone’s mortgage book, top-heavy with loans to finance underused office buildings, will have sell the buildings in 2024 at an unmanageable loss. The Muddy Waters report has been covered by the business media, but it’s been ignored by the general media.

  2. This was probably posted before, but Ibrahim Ali, a Syrian refugee, was found guilty for raping and murdering a 13-year-old girl:
    https://www.westernwheel.ca/indigenous/bc-jury-finds-ibrahim-ali-guilty-of-first-degree-murder-in-death-of-girl-13-7942960

The corporate media have been siding with Ali in the sense that he acted out during the overlong trial, stretching the three-month trial into an 11-month-ordeal. The appeal courts haven’t had a chance as yet to free the confused, misunderstood immigrant.

    1. 1. “Ibrahim Ali, a Syrian refugee

      2. “the confused, misunderstood immigrant

So which one is it, refugee or immigrant?

“When I use a word,” Humpty Dumpty said, in rather a scornful tone, “it means just what I choose it to mean — neither more nor less.” “The question is,” said Alice, “whether you can make words mean so many different things.”

      1. I read the Globe and Mail story on this, which stated that the perp was a refugee from Syria, who came to Canada during the worst of the ciil war there. I didn’t post the G&M version since it is paywalled.

I am an immigrant myself, although I came here more than half a century ago, when life was different. So I am interested in immigration. There are three types of immigrants to Canada: refugees, family members of accepted immigrants already in Canada, and economic immigrants. Only the last-named are screened for suitability to contribute to Canada, where the screening is done through a “points” system. I came in as an economic immigrant, and passed the screening immigration officer in Hull, Quebec (59 points, above the required 50 points). Note that the ratio of economic immigrants to total immigrants as gradually declined over the decades.

Mr. Ali, as a refugee, was not screened for suitability. Note that, from above remarks, he is both a refugee and an immigrant.

        1. I think the Word MIGRANT needs to added to the discussion…and Im betting this POS is in fact a Migrant who walked across Roxham Rd with RCMP carrying his Sabotage kit.

Immigration per se has NEVER Been an issue, Lowering the threshold for Citizenship sure as shit has, right alongside Trudeaus love of Islamic invaders (more Migrants we have ZERO use for).

Said Citizenship idiocy was started by Pierre – Not Quite DEAD enuff.

    2. CBC completely left out the Syrian refugee bit this morning.

But, not surprisingly. Marc LePine is still behind the Montreal massacre. Actually, that was the first time I ever started to question the media since I couldn’t understand why there were no pictures printed of Marc in that day and age.

  3. And here we are pressing our own view of what is or is not happening in the Ukraine. The Ukraine is not winning anything other than billions of dollars sucked out of the US. No one posting here has any idea what is happening, I am no exception. We can however see by the absence of documented “war” footage that nothing is as it seems.

    1. VOWG I am surprised that you say there is a lack of footage. I see a massive amount of war footage that is available from both sides. Have you tried Telegram?

  4. Caught the lead story on the CBC Morning News today, to watch story on the all-night marathon between the Conservatives on one side, and the Liberals, NDP and the Bloc on the other side. The woman host started of with a lie, saying all the votes were for “Ax the Tax” — regurgitating Trudeau’s lie that the voting was to abolishthe carbon tax in toto.. Only when the CBC showed a clip of Poilievre saying that his bill wanted the tax lifted off of farms and retail food, was the lie corrected.

To top things off, when Poilievre spoke, the Ceeb showed stock footage of oil derricks, heavy smoke pollution at a large industrial plant, all of this to imply that the Conservatives were pro-pollution. The CBC did not show any difficulties of famers and low-income people.

  5. Vegan restaurants in LA are adding meat to their menu.

    https://www.sfgate.com/la/article/vegan-restaurants-adding-meat-los-angeles-18527772.php

“We felt like we had to open the restaurant up to more people [by adding meat to the menu], but we also saw a lot of vegan restaurants throwing in the towel,” Guerrero adds.

Owner Mark Verge told Eater LA that it was a decision made to save the restaurant. “I think if we did not make the change, we were definitely going to have to close down,” he said. “I was probably going to lose 30 jobs. We were just not going to last going plant-based.”

    1. David – See above where I linked to the article “Penn loses $100 million donation over antisemitism hearing”.

  6. Ryan O’Neal, famous movie Muppet has died, I remember him best for the celebrity gossip news back in my student days, he banged Justin Trudeau’s mom, then ghosted her, and she was observed trying to climb the fence of his Hollywood home in search for more. Geraldo also used her in New York and it’s pretty obvious Fidel Castro was on the train, it’s likely a long list.

    1. Yes, I’m jealous too. And frankly, I thought he was quite good in “Barry Lyndon”, though I admit not all share my opinion on this.

He was rich and handsome enough to be an insufferable dick, but in my experience he never came across as such, he always seemed quite decent. May he rest in peace.

  7. I would phrase this a little differently, as in one part of the world is trying to prevent another part of the world from self-destructing.

    https://www.wsj.com/business/energy-oil/future-of-fossil-fuels-at-stake-in-homestretch-of-climate-talks-7f9bdb27

“Fossil-fuel producers are fighting an existential battle here in the final stretch of the United Nations climate conference against countries that want to end the burning of coal, oil and natural gas.”

The article frames the issue as the fossil-fuel producers fighting for their survival against countries that want to end the burning of fossil fuels. Yet the largest consumers are USA, China, India … aka most of the world. So how do you convert from cheap and abundant fossil fuels?

“To replace fossil fuels, governments will need to massively scale up wind, solar and other renewable-energy sources. Negotiators are debating a text that would call for the global capacity of renewable energy to triple.”

Ok, so do it then. Start with the capital cities in every Western country. Let’s see how that goes.

    1. Some years back, the Canadian Labour Congress took $50,000 of it’s member’s union dues and gave it to the Coalition For Gun Control. The members of those unions were never polled are asked if they approved. My own union, BCGEU, never polled it’s membership, yet claimed they did so with unanimous approval of the individual components that make up the BCGEU. When I asked how that was possible, they replied that they had asked the heads of each component if they were in favour, and each said yes.

The union movement must be restricted to the workplace only, and any actions outside the workplace should result in the immediate disbandment of the union.

  9. The CBC is going on about cantaloupes and salmonella constantly.

I hope we see this level of zeal eventually with the jabs. If you’re dying with nothing left to lose, you may as well go out swinging.

  10. Two more churches burned by arsonist in Alberta again this week. One a complete loss, the other had a few pieces saved ( pews, alter). No doubt, if there is even a national mention (Trudeau) it will once again be “understandable”. Churches were built in 1910’s. Old as confederation province.

  11. “You just claimed that russians have home field advantage in Ukraine, hence Ukraine is russian home, hence Ukraine is russia. Go get offended somewhere else, it leaves no impression.”

They have home field in Russia you idiot. You are very dense and your skull is empty.

Not everything is about the Ukraine or you. Simpleton.
