Why this blog?
Until this moment I have been forced to listen while media and politicians alike have told me "what Canadians think". In all that time they never once asked.
This is just the voice of an ordinary Canadian yelling back at the radio -
"You don't speak for me."

Journalists who made a living writing fake news told other people who were losing their jobs to “learn to code”.
So they did. They wrote code that can write fake news.
Karma is a bitch.

The Sports Illustrated writers union wouldn’t mind as long as AI writers paid union dues.
That may in fact be much more uncomfortably close to the truth than the union’s willing to admit publicly.
I thought we were all AI here?
Sports articles would be the easiest for AI to duplicate because they usually are made up of nothing but cliches and tell you nothing.
Yes, to a point, but reading any of the old school sports writers was a joy. I don’t care much about horse racing, drag racing (the old kind, not the faggy stuff), yacht racing or squirrel racing. But a good writer could make you interested.
As well:

Refreshingly ordinary. And only 60 years ago.
Back in the days (before fake boobs) sports writers told stories. They were skilled woodsmiths who knew their game. Writing was a profession, you just didn’t go to J/school and come out thinking you had something worthwhile to say. You don’t.
It didn’t matter if they were describing the ninth inning of a baseball game or a Manchurian tiger hunt the writing was classic. Much of it has stood the test of time. Hemingway wrote for the Toronto Star ffs.
I am talking about modern sports writing. While there is still the odd good writer around, modern journalism of all kinds is rather pathetic.
Oh, indeed, most things “modern” are crap, from our built-in obsolesce appliances, to media to…well, preaching to the converted.
I wrote this about the first year into COVID about the then current state of science writing. And, no, it hasn’t improved:
Step 1: fire all the old guys who might know basic math
Step 3: hire recent liberal arts grads who last took (not even passed) a math class in 10th grade
Step 7: give them titles such as “senior science writer” who report to a 30 year old “senior science editor”
Step 7: have them re-type press releases from Big Green for clickbait
Step 44: print a small “editor’s note” on page 521
Step Nth: fire all the humans and have AI write everything
“They were skilled woodmiths…”
I think you are thinking of carpenters?
Whoops, wordsmiths ha
I was wondering how he was going to connect that with fake boobs…
I remember SI in the good old days, when the only thing fake was the some of the b00bs in the swimsuit issue. Now they have fake women who are really men in the swimsuit issue and fake writers.
Swimsuit issue peaked in the 90’s with the painted on bikinis. There was nowhere to go but down.
You know what’s worse than AI writing for SI?
People paying money for SI, or Cosmopolitan, or Vogue, or any other magazine you see at the supermarket check-out.
Well … this DOES solve the problem of lady sportswriters interviewing naked men in the locker room
Part of me shrugs and thinks, “who cares, part of journalists getting their comeuppance”. But there are much larger implications to this. Think of “climate science”, or what helped shape the official narrative around the plandemic. The corrupt messaging, policy and science driving those were by humans, which was bad enough. AI removes another layer of accountability and responsibility from the already almost inpenetrable wall that surrounds corporations, bureaucracy and government. Unlike unchecked, free info of the internet, this tech needs massive checks/restraint.
In the old days, you had movies where people were worried about machines taking over or crazy AI, like 2001 a space odyssey. After COVID and other recent events, we know the worse thing about AI is that it will be used to control and investigate citizens. With full participation of government and industry.
Journalism these days is so easy that a monkey could do it. Only, these monkeys are digital.
Funny. The idea of being lied to by a robot doesn’t piss me off any where near as much as the lies we’re enduring from turdo’s presstitutes.
Point taken.. AI generated screed is indistinguishable from the real stuff.. As if your lazy electric twanger ever had a chance against a keen mind.. ?? Then again we can build our own and settle matters over a game of pool..
So the AI is as dumb as your regular sports writer. The thing is that they manufactured false identities and false bios for those AI writers, which means they were covering up the lies with more lies. Matt Walsh has a segment on this issue (link below) along with a creepy AI teen singer singing about bringing it all down (what else) and an AI Johnny Cash singing a Taylor Swift song. As if Johnny hasn’t been abused enough.
