    1. In high school, I often sat next to a girl from Lebanon because both of our last names started with the same letter and both of us took all the math and science courses. She was funny, taught us to swear in Arabic, showed us the writing style and gossiped about the gifts and letters from suitors in Lebanon who were pre-approved by her father.

      Then in class one day, a teacher asked questions about Lebanon and Israel. She said Jews were no better than dogs. Total silence in the room because it was such an unexpected thing to hear in small town Saskatchewan. Obviously she had been taught to hate.

In Riyadh a guy affiliated with our group was black, half Sudanese and half Egyptian, one of the funniest, nicest, people you’d ever meet…..(one April Fools day he sent a bunch of Sudanese guys down to the King’s palace at 4:00 a.m. telling them that the King was hiring people to take with him on a round-the-world trip).

        Out of the blue one day, just prior to the end of our contract, he stated that “All Jews should be killed” – I said “Mohammed (they’re ALL named Mohammed) you’ve never spoken to a Jew, you’ve never met a Jew, and it’s likely that you’ve never even SEEN a Jew”.

        As I noted above it’s 24/7 indoctrination…their entire lives….basically they’ve been fashioned into Anti-Jew Junkies and unfortunately there’s no antidote.

          Children’s shows and cartoons in Gaza talk about killing Jews. Their school textbooks teach that Jews are subhuman. These kids are being taught to hate Israel and Jews while they are barely more than toddlers.

  4. I have always admired the Jewish people for their brilliance and their civilized nature.

    There are many good people who support the Jewish people. The Jewish people who have survived horrors that we cannot even imagine what was like.

    The anti Semites who hide in the leftist collectives will not win. Their hearts are black and they are evil. Israel will survive.

    1. Indeed, the Jewish contribution to our civilization is huge. The other side? Probably negative.
      That’s my rough trade off when I look at this situation and pick my side, although I can serve up nuance if needed.

  5. This is fine, and important, but recognize the “Je Suis” movement for what it was; fashionable leftist virtue signaling. Obviously the “left” predominates the hegemony of ideological antisemitism. In this context only Jews can be Jews and the idea of a Jewish identity politics collective will fizzle right from the start. Focus instead on the problems Jews have encountered with Islamic peoples and ask the question, is it because we’re Jewish? Immediately, the answer will ensue: “No, it’s been the same for us too.”
    In short Me Too trumps Je Suis.

    I listened to a long interview between Piers Morgan and Ben Shapiro. Shapiro started the interview by claiming as you, Laura, “I am a Jew”. Shapiro went on to say that there are only 7 million Jews living in Israel, another 6 million in America and a few million other scattered around the globe. His point was there are NOT a LOT of Jews on the planet. Because of that, there are probably far less than 6 degrees of separation between Jews … virtually assuring that every Jew knows someone who has been killed, kidnapped, wounded, or directly affected by this murderous rampage by Hamas terrorists.

    Sad times. I pray that Israel completely sanitizes Gaza and The West Bank

  10. Democrats funded Iran, Hamas and Hezbollah. American Jews vote and fund at least 70% Democrat. For Reform Jews, the percentage is above 80%. Reform Jews are the largest group of Jews in the United States.

    So, American Jews voted and funded to kill Israeli Jews.

    13% of Israel’s population is Haredi (ultra-orthodox) Jews. Haredi support Hamas and oppose the existence of the secular state of Israel, saying it is an abomination before God. By 2065, Haredi Jews are expected to make up 40% of Israel’s population. They do not serve in the military, nor do they contribute to the economy. All they do is study Torah. They also burn Israeli flags and fly Palestinian flags, accusing Israel of having stolen Palestinian territory.

    It looks like all of the Jews described above voted for this.
    It’s not clear why America’s Jews are upset.

    If they want different outcomes, they should vote and fund differently, they should protest differently. Who wants to bet that, as a result of recent events, America’s Jews will suddenly stop voting Democrat? Anyone?

    1. That is the great conundrum – Jews tend to vote overwhelmingly on the far-left of the political spectrum, and support every leftist cause.

      No one deserves what happened to them recently, but it has to make one wonder why they keep supporting those who support their enemies.

      I also wonder why despite supporting Israel so vociferously, millions of Jews choose to live in NYC and overseas.

      How can this be, when Hamas wants to kill *all* Jews? Do they think they are ‘good’ Jews, so Hamas will just leave them alone?

    But I was shocked to learn that Israel does not let their citizens own firearms. They are surrounded by people that have wanted to kill them for a millennia, and they put all their faith into a stupid fence? That’s nuts. Hopefully this atrocity will wake up the Israeli government, and they will enact their own version of our Second Amendment.

      I was shocked at that too, because I remember a time when most of them walked around armed. How did they allow the leftists to take away their only form of self-defense? At the very least, how can the IDF reservists not keep a weapon at home like the Swiss do?

  23. I had no idea that Israel had strict gun control which apparently has been dialed back since this attack. If I were an Israeli I’d want to open carry at all times. Imagine if at least a handful of the rave goers had guns. I’m sure they would have been able to at least delay the terrorists.

  26. Watched recent interview of Norman Finkelstein by Aaron Maté & Katie Halper. Norman made mention of the pogroms against Jews in the Ukraine c. WW2. He said that Jews feared the Ukrainian nationalists more than they did the NAZIs. The hateful ideology of the nationalists, be they German, Pole, Ukrainian or Palestinian, as reflected by Hamas, is the disease we need to guard against.

  27. I am neither a Jew or a Palestinian, but even if I was I would hope I would keep my old country’s blood feuds out of my Canadian life.

    I can’ t take either side, and note that war is hell, both sides lay on the propaganda pretty thick, and Canada should stay the heck out of it.
