Yes, every few generations political and corporate megalomaniacs decide they are masters of the universe and attempt to subjugate the rest of us. It’s the people’s responsibility to rid them of their delusions by becoming ungovernable.
I have family members in Britain, supposedly well educated in the medical, legal, and technical professions. All of them are ‘blissfully’ unaware of what is happening around them. I occassionally ask them if they have seen the latest Oliver monologue, they in their “blissfull” ignorance discount him as nothing more than a “conspiranist”. This brings me to the B-cubed theory, ‘B*llsh*t, Baffles, Brains!’. As Oliver relates the anecdote about morbidly obese people in America. the other allegation to be inserted here is that in addition to feeding the general public on a diet that produces obesity we have been feeding the general public on a diet of education that produces stupidity. In fifty years we have allowed ourselves to be swayed by the B-cubed theory until we now find ourselves in the untenable situation that Oliver describes, TPTB have negated our freedom, and we are well on the road to 21st Century feudalism.
On a side note as mentioned in another comment the other day, TPTB are well on their way to removing the last vestige of freedom in America. Another gun retailer was removed from the market place, while the IRS is adding to its arsenal. Why does the IRS require agents to be armed with automatic weapons and why are legal gun dealers and sporting goods stores being forced out of business? Start connecting the dots and think about what Oliver is saying.
