Why does one keep repeating “The Emperor had not clothes?” Because greater society hasn’t figured it out yet. So yet again, wind power in Alberta and Saskatchewan has cratered in recent days. But we’re building more wind turbines!

Is the huge number of wind turbines now affecting our weather?. We are extracting the kinetic energy from the wind and therefore from the Earth. Less wind must mean warmer temperatures.
It probably has some effect on the local microclimate, but no one has really done studies on it.
There is also the little matter of the inefficient conversion of kinetic energy to electrical energy, which is converted into heat and released in the environment. Again, haven’t seen any studies on that.
Stupid people still think wind is viable. The dumb assed idiots still do not grasp the fact that wind turbines and solar panels cannot be produced without mining and massive use of coal, oil and gas. Get the crap out of your eyes folks. Any of the studies you think should be done is just more waste of money.
Wind hasn’t been viable since about 1712…
They have spent since 1887 trying to make electric wind turbines work, and since 1883 for solar…
Studies aren’t easy to get financed on such a topic. There are some hints on the local microclimate (slightly warmer) being impacted.
In Germany, with huge wind energy parks on the coast, regions close to the North Sea there are hints that these installations together (or “combined”) have effects like a small mountain range, i.e. leading to more precipitation in front (and in the the surrounding of the park) but further inland there is a reduction in precipitation. Its the typical effect mountain ranges have all over the place. But, surprisingly: no funding yet … and very little interest.
Areas in eastern Germany (around Berlin) have become notably drier (and warmer, lower humidity, lower wind speed could mean higher temps) in the last years.
The biggest question to be answered yet for the green energy victory is: “how many wind turbines are needed to power a country if there is no wind?” Some peolpe may know the answer … but they aren’t in politics, nor “climate science”.
Good luck, Canada, cheers from Germany!
This is good for the greenies, they can blame the changed weather patterns on climate change then tax people to fix it.
It would be if the wind were blowing 🙂
Good Wind News in CA!! Gavin Newsom just signed a Bill that will *cough* *cough* … streamline CEQA environmental reviews for all “Green” energy projects. Yeah … no more dead bird reports or sonic noise pollution will be reported. Yeayyyy Gang Green!
Next step from “progressive”/Left is to modify science/curriculum to adapt to their propaganda. They did this with covid ‘vaccines’ + I saw yesterday here on SDA how in NZ they want to replace Physics, Chemistry etc with BS: “Climate Change”, “Biodiversity”, “Water Food and Energy Nexus”. They pushed and continue pushing for all this gender crap all the way down to primary school, and so far it worked. Resistance was minor and/or futile. Now I’m sure they will push all the way to kindergarten for other things: how insects/worms (in gov’s speak “alternative proteins”) are good for human consumption, how horse-and-buggy will fix the planet, how every idea non green-Lefty is by default bad/double-plus-ungood.
The only things windmills generate consistently are subsidies.
And you get the astute prize, Mike! I cannot believe anyone really believe this, except the ideologue-bound green shirted foot soldiers.
“We’ll make up for it with volume.”
Well, yeah! Don’t you know? Like, all the winds have moved to Ontario, so, like, that’s why Blubber Douggie is building all sorts of windmills! Okay???
Really? Prove it.
Has to be that. I mean, Blubber Douggie wouldn’t do anything for selfish political purposes.
Right?
What was indicated by IESO was that Ontario was “studying” the role of wind/solar. IESO is NOT the Ontario government. Most of those scum were hired in the McGuinty/Wynne era.
I wonder where their money comes from?????
IESO extracts its costs from all the producers on the system along with the transmission system itself owned by Hydro One.
You’re right about mcguinty scum still sitting on the pond. But Blubber Douggie has had five years to clean it up but it’s still around. And during that period LOTS of windmills have gone up…quite a few of them within a half-hour drive from here.
He terminated all the wind/solar contracts not yet built or in service. What more do you want?
Clean IESO up how? Fire them all? They have a union to prevent that. It’s impossible to simply wave a hand and have all the a**holes vanish, much as we might want to have them take a long walk on a short dock.
Besides, count your blessings. We could still have the McGuinty scum or the Wynning-bitch still in office.
Ford is Wynne in a fat suit.
Dougie has just signed on for another 15,000 MW of nuclear power. It was covered right here on SDA.
The winds move to wherever they cannot be captured.
In reply to “Kenji”, just read an article from CNN about 20 homes in an area south of Los Angeles and west of Long Beach (on a peninsula of land), median salary is $ 160,000 USD. Since Saturday, over 20 homes have slid or are in the process of sliding down a very steep hillside. The drone footage shows many more such streets with homes on one side of the streets, precariously balanced. I think this will end up being more of a worry as there are always reports of “extreme flooding” in the spring with homes being washed away. The home owners are “promised” property tax relief from the municipality. Isn’t that “big” of them! Your house, your furnishings, your car and the land are all gone.
This guy often has good coverage of LA related events. Totally non political, just some crazy friendly German in Venice
https://youtu.be/ToLg4Stsdk8
LA is filled with homes built in canyons … mostly on machine graded cut and fill slopes over sandy soils. A recipe for disaster. And yes “extreme” weather events such as what happened this last winter (massive rains in LA) has saturated the soils. Add to that, many very, very, sketchy building inspection departments … and living in canyon lands is risky. Highly risky!
“Greater society” are by and large morons, they deserve to freeze in the dark and poor to boot.
Another way of “show-casing” wind power would be to highlight it at max power. How often, how long does wind achieve its name plate power generation capacity?
I liken electricity to the oxygen of the economy. The second you run out of oxygen, you stop breathing, and everything stops. Immediate, life threatening crisis. It doesn’t matter when you have lots of air. Its when you stop that it counts the most. Thus, the stories on when it stops. They are quite frequent – on average one to two times a month.
Answer: Never.
Just like the nameplate “range” of your fancy EV.
Almost never
“On a day like today, we’d pass the time away, making wind craters in the sand… ” Hmm. Needs work.
Mr. Zinchuk, sir, I am tired of your fear mongering. My little plastic sunflower pinwheel in the garden has been spinning continuously for the past several weeks. All the experts reassured me that that alone was evidence of the efficacy of wind generation. Indeed, we could make such evidence the foundation of Our Common Future! Harrumph!
Your sarcasm is cutting, keep up the good work.
I hope your pink flamingos haven’t been blown over !
An essential part. If the wind drops, they flap their wings and the pinwheels of the green minds spin like the song.
I have 3 pink (plastic) flamingos in my vegetable garden, Kenji. You know those nature programs where something spooks the flamingos, and the sky explodes as thousands of them take flight?
Well, those are my way of warning me if there are alligators in my garden. If the flamingos are gone, I know to watch for alligators.
BTW, I’m at about 35N latitude so there aren’t many alligators around, but if they ever show up in my garden, I’ll have a warning.
I see your pinwheels and raise you truth mongering!
The Saskpower CEO says, “The Bekevar Wind Facility will add another 200 megawatts on its own, and this facility will supply enough renewable power to power 100,000 homes, on average.”
“On average.” And I bet it won’t be even that good. A wise person pointed out that “average” power generation capacity is not nearly good enough. You need the capacity for the extremes, you need it available ALL the time, and only hydro, nuclear or gas/coal can do that. Solar and wind are so hopeless it’s not funny, and the blindness of these CEOs and boards and politicians is even less funny.
Just try wading across a river with an “average” depth of three feet and see how far you get before you drown.
The Saskpower CEO must be a political bag licker, if he were an engineer, his professional standards would require better.
obviously you haven’t dealt with the current “professional standards” of engineers recently
De all worried bout pro-nouns.
(I wonder where their money comes from????)
When McGuinty and Wynne were the scammers, did not the bribes come from Samsung?
Just wait…

“He terminated all the wind/solar contracts not yet built or in service. What more do you want?”
No he didn’t. He didn’t cancel the North Stormont wind farm
“Besides, count your blessings. We could still have the McGuinty scum or the Wynning-bitch still in office.”
There are no blessings. He worked hand in hand with turdo to lock us up and and force vaccinations on folks. Conservative scum is indistinguishable from Liberal scum.
Wrong. He canceled over 700 of them.

Or do you want to pretend that all these contracts still exist? Or do you just want to whine about one sustained by a court order?
The construction – which had been in the very early stages when blubber douggie took office, and certainly no more advanced than many others – continued unabated while he fiddled and farted. It quickly became evident to all that this project was going ahead with no real opposition from the government. The local MPP lost his pre-election voice and went into hiding. By the time it got to court it was a foregone conclusion that the ‘adanced stage of constuction’ argument would be sustained.
And as far as pretending goes, there is a significant portion of the electorate who choose to pretend that this Premier is something other than a wind-sock Liberal with a blue tie.
The only people pretending are those who
Don’t forget Jamie that Ford said on Freeland becoming Finance Minister: “I absolutely love Chrystia Freeland. She’s amazing. I’ll have her back, I’ll help her any way we can,” an elated Premier Doug Ford said Tuesday. “There’s no one that would be better in that role than Chrystia Freeland,” he said. “If there was one person, I have confidence in, it is Chrystia Freeland. She’s going to do an incredible job,” said Ford.
Don’t forget Jamie, Ford is Trudeau’s best friend:
Doug Ford Oct. 17, 2022
Question: looking back to February, do you think the Federal government was justified in using the Emergencies.
Answer: Yes, I stood shoulder to shoulder with the Prime Minister.
X times zero is still zero..
In whitey’s whirld
Idiots.
