What’s everyone seeing out there regarding kids health and the availability of medications?
The Line- The Children’s Tylenol shortage is getting ridiculous
There has been a nation-wide infant and children’s pain medication shortage for months. During that time, I’ve been trying to secure the supply my family needs with very limited success. My 16-month-old son was diagnosed with tonsillitis, conjunctivitis (pink eye), and an ear infection a few weeks ago, and I was given a prescription for infant pain medication, but I still could not get it from the major pharmacy in my town.
On the other side of the equation
Compounding the situation is a significant increase in demand due to high levels of illness among children over the summer and early fall. That included everything from worse than usual hand-foot-mouth disease, an earlier start to cold and flu season, and, of course, COVID. But the real culprit appears to be an especially bad respiratory infection called RSV. This October, the Children’s Hospital of Eastern Ontario (CHEO) admitted 10 times more kids with RSV than they did in typical Octobers pre-pandemic.

New Zealand experienced a huge increase in RSV due to “immunity debt” from COVID lockdowns as they have not been exposed to “bugs”. RSV is infinitely more dangerous to small children than COVID. The medical establishment has essentially destroyed itself first with the lockdowns, etc., and then with trying to cover up their own incompetence and malfeasance on pressure from politicians.
Yes, as I asked a masked Branch Covidian after he asked me why I wasn’t afraid of COVID: “aren’t you afraid of immunity deficit?”.
He hadn’t heard the term before, but the again, religion and science don’t mix, until religion changes the science.
BTW, Australia (remember them? I’m sure the entire country will get a Nobel Prize for Medicine…) found this out the hard way back in 2021:

Here is a synopsis of the data from New Zealand and Australia in regard to COVID from January 1, 2022. Both countries benefited from the fact that their borders are easy to control due to their geography. At that time, New Zealand and Australia were vaxxed up the ying yang…..and what was the result?
New Zealand
Total of all cases up to January 1, 2022 – 14,118
Total of all cases from January 1, 2022 to November 1, 2022 – 1,851,689
Total of all deaths up to January 1, 2022 – 59
Total of all deaths from January 1, 2022 to November 1, 2022 – 3,103
Australia
Total of all cases up to January 1, 2022 – 430,712
Total of all cases from January 1, 2022 to November 1, 2022 – 10,379,443
Total of all deaths up to January 1, 2022 – 2,368
Total of all deaths from January 1, 2022 to November 1, 2022 – 15,665
Hey…so it was immunity debt that killed all of the inhabitants of north and south america after that big germ bag Chris Columbus and his buddies sailed over???
Makes sense.
Dont forget his other buddies , should ask whats left of the Aztecs, Incas and Mayans after that other germ bag Hernan Cortes and his merry band of Conquistadors stormed through Central and South America.
Listen, just because we were right about everything covid related doesn’t mean we weren’t wrong anyways, okay.
Our betters know what is best for us.
Well, as I told someone who started the new Branch Covidian meme of “we all need an amnesty”: nope. Because the people who closed the dog parks are still in charge, and if you think they’re making any better decisions because they weren’t punished for that lunacy…think again.
Childrens Tylenol almost impossible to find in Ottawa. We’ve had calls from friends asking if we have any. Unclear to me why parents dont have a spare bottle or two.
If you are in the US, buy some and bring it back.
All part of the Dauphins plan.
I can echo these sentiments. My little kids have been fairly healthy with a few minor colds, nothing this summer though compared to alot of friend’s/colleagues kids who were quite ill for 3+ weeks on end and could not kick whatever they had. Have heard lots of hand and mouth as well going around. I have heard from many parents about Tylenol shortage, scouring multiple stores and coming up empty handed. Since last year, have tried to stock up on most things for obvious reasons so haven’t looked personally, and thankfully haven’t needed it.
I know of a four year old who contracted RSV and ended up in hospital and spent two days in a pediatric ICU. I know for certain that this child was not vaxxed and belongs to a community that did not vax. I think something is going on beyond just vaccine adverse reaction. His community carefully isolated due to the pandemic to avoid COVID so immunity deficit could explain his case.
Of course there are always a certain number of children who get very sick from RSV and he was one of the “normal” ones.
That child probably swims in a sea of vaxxed kids with immunity deficit who are helping spread the RSV. The vaxxed are now the superspreaders that they had accused the unvaxxed of being.
Yet another sign that Canada is well on the road to being the next Argentina – nominally resource rich, but with politicians more interested in grifting than seriously addressing problems, a thin economy that isn’t very resilient, coupled with Canadian tendencies to build oligarchies in key sectors and protect them for all they’re worth. Add 500K immigrants per year as rocket fuel and KABOOM!
This will not be a first world country within a generation, if not much sooner than that.
Hell, IM, I’d posit that it’s not a first world country now. Just look at the tin pot dictator at the helm!
I won’t disagree; I think one could make a convincing case that Canada is already much closer to Argentina (or other semi-functional Latin American state) than America (*), and that there is certainly little hope of meaningful course correction any time soon.
(*) – or at least, what America once was. Its current condition, being headed by a dementia-riddled fool, doesn’t bear much resemblance to the first world either.
I dunno what country I’ll suggest as a future destination for my children to build their lives, but surely it won’t be this one. They’re still 10+ years away from that talk so I’ve got time to work it out.
A lot can happen in 10 years.
I imagine a ton of opportunities.
I was curious about childhood vaccination rates but the CBC hasn’t updated since February.
Mankind’s greatest achievement is being untracked….
Neighbor just got his 5th shot. About 3 months after his 4th. Why do we call this thing a vaccine at all? What other vaccine do you take every 3 months? I’m not aware of one.
Add amoxicillin to the bag of MIA drugs. With, like, 98% of all active pharmaceuticals ingredients coming from China, the CCP can put a squeeze on our pharmaceuticals needs. Anyone with small kids or in need of specialty medicines should have by now a emergency stock. Not hording; an emergency stock…
The government isn’t through with its emotional blackmail yet.
Good thing the Oakland schools are still FORCING all the children and teachers to wear masks … all … day … long … in the classroom.
LOL!! “we need more domestic manufacturing of essential goods”. Any remaining manufacturers in Canada are trying to get the hell out. No business person in their right mind is bringing manufacturing to Canada. The government and their voters hate business people and do all they can to discourage it.
