The Royal Navy that my father proudly served in WW2 is a shadow of a fighting navy, most of the time their ships are laid up for repairs eg HMS Prince of Wales. As for the Italian navy-unless they have long range missiles they will usually runaway.
The RN doesn’t need to be up to much. The invaders mostly use inflatable boats, so a couple of pokes with a sharp stick is all it would take.
