Bjorn Lomborg- The rich world’s message to the poor: Fossil fuels for me but not for thee
While the wealthy G7 countries admonish the world’s poor to use only renewables because of climate concerns, Europe and the United States are going begging to Arab nations to expand oil production, Germany is reopening coal power plants and Spain and Italy are ramping up African gas production. So many European countries have asked Botswana to mine more coal it will have to triple its exports.
If the Italians and Spaniards were smart, they’d invade Botswana–put the populace to the sword and take over the country and its natural resources.

I don’t care for funding African energy sector, green or fossil fuels or unicorn farts.
They shouldn’t care about western delusional green initiatives.
If Africans produce energy, and are able to sell it at competitive prices, there is no reason not to buy it.

I still think its racist.
What’s even more grotesque is that we are forever being told that we must suicide our economy to eliminate our 1% share of total emissions so that we can lead by example for the China’s and India’s of the world, and browbeat them on the international stage. This hasn’t worked for about two decades now, they aren’t interested in our example.
How about this – Let’s look at the growth and success of China and India, and let them lead us by example….
No wonder you can still buy a Tilley (pressure kerosene) light.
I saw in an item a while ago that the poorer end of the world burns about as much kero a year for lighting, heating and cooking as the US does of jet fuel.
No fossil fuel will go down a treat there
In my experience, pressure lamps burn through fuel too quickly. IMHO, unless you really need very bright illumination, say for field surgery or something, regular flat-wicked hurricane lamps are the way to go.
But environmentalism has always been a rich, white man’s pastime.
