I, For One, Welcome Our New Self-Driving Overlords

Group of Robotaxis All Shut Down at Same Moment

Photos shared on the San Francisco subreddit shows a number of Cruise cars seemingly blocking several lanes of a major thoroughfare “for a couple of hours,” according to the user who shared the images.

“It was a pretty surreal event,” one user commented. “Humans had to come and manually take the cars away.”

“They’re unionizing,” another joked.

  1. Got a brand new car, made in Japan, on June 29th.

A week later my girlfriend is driving the car, leaving work, anticipating the rise of the the parking garage door, when the car suddenly slams to a stop.
She thought she’d hit something and was freaked out , but no, it was the brains inside the dash that decided she was too close despite having managed the simple decision for decades.
    That’s bullshyte.

    My worry is accident avoidance.
A few months back I needed to weave through a highway #417 collision (I clearly saw coming) and I needed to go left or right because stopping meant I might get rear-ended by the somebody looking at their fkn fon.
I don’t know what our new car would do or let the driver do.

Ever had to run a red light because you knew the tractor-trailer behind wasn’t going to stop and you were right?
I’ll happily keep driving our old, dumb car and rely on the old, dumb guy behind the wheel.
