The US military is having trouble recruiting new members, according to the Pentagon. A much lower percentage of Americans are eligible to serve, and within that population, an even smaller amount is willing to enlist. Ret. Lt. Gen. Thomas Spoehr of the Heritage Foundation said, “This is the start of a long drought for military recruiting.” A recent poll by NBC News showed that only 9% of those eligible want to join the military, a major decrease from 29% in recent years.\
Back in the day a judge would say “Well Sonny, you can spend 5 years in prison or 5 years in the army”. Time to look at that option again.

Just curious … where does the military place women who become trans-men in the barracks? With the women? Or with the men? Asking for a potential recruit who is interested in finding a fkcu-buddy in the barracks.
Yeah … I’d dare say the traditional military recruit is staying away from THIS military in droves. Examining their “white rage” … at home. Not in the woke military.
PS … my local Home Depot parking lot is covered with heespanick recruits. Conscripts who can earn their citizenship. Hint: they’re all young military age men … no women and children we’ve been told are flooding across our borders

Pay is a huge issue.
I doubt it. Pay may be on the low side, but many recruits do not have great earning capacity outside of the military, where they can also start a career path. Likely, the destruction of traditional military culture is a problem. Forced vaccines don’t help either.
Many young people care nothing for money or career path. They know they can eat for free and vote for a living, or leach off their parents.
If you want to really be frightened check out Jordan Peterson’s video how the military determined that anyone with an IQ of 83 or less is considered totally untrainable. Problem is 1 in 10 potential recruits/enlistees have an IQ of 83 or less.
Not good.

They tried McNamara’s Morons back in the 1960s and had way too much grief. When these draftees got into action they repeatedly effed up and were prone to killing their own troops. When they lowered the IQ for conscription Muhammed Ali was drafted into McNamara’s Morons but went to jail instead. He was eventually freed on the basis of a perfect oxymoron, A Muslim pacifist.

It’ll be interesting to see if they draft women, and if so, what progressives’ reactions to that will be.

Exactly! When the time comes they want to make sure that the order to fire on their fellow citizens is carried out in a quick and efficient manner. They know that the pressure cooker of anger that they’ve been stoking is going to end up blowing up in their faces and they don’t want the Mussolini treatment.
I suspect 21st century anti-draft protests will make the 20th century ones look pretty tame.
The founders never intended for the USA to have a standing army. It’s existence is spit in the eyes of the founders.
Same goes for the fed. reserve, for that matter.

They believe the US military has a plan, that the CIA knows what it is doing, that Top Gun Maverick is real life, and the US financial system is not actually a ponzi scheme, utterly dependent on foreign appetite for US “assets” (actually just IOUs), that could be seized from them, or simply repudiated, at the drop of a hat, on the slightest pretext.
The US as it was formed under its constitution is WHOLLY unsuited to the task of being the global hegemon and the dictator of the international order. That it found itself thus at the end of WW2 would have shocked and horrified the Founding Fathers, and they would have urged immediate and widespread establishment of ameliorating structures, such as the UNO might have been. Alas, it was not to be.
As a result of its baked-in contradictions, the US has had no choice but to become ever more chauvinistic, militarised and militaristic, both abroad, AND at home, if its citizens are to continue to be granted a standard of living that is out of all proportion to global economic conditions, and the suffering of billions.
All this will now change, and stunningly quickly. But hey, a draft. Yeah, that’ll solve America’s economic problems…

Anarcho-capitalist, the late great Murray Rothbard, proposed closing the enormously wasteful and mischievous military. He said that in the extremely unlikely event of an occupation by a foreign power, broad private gun ownership and guerilla warfare and terrorism would dislodge it. The 29% of young men who wanted to serve, did so because they wanted to join a company of heroes. Who wants to join an Army of cream puffs, or worse yet, a Navy so gay that you’re made to watch lecture videos about the correct use of pronouns upon enlistment?
The armies of both the United states and Canada have also squeezed out a disproportionate number of their veteran personnel with active combat experience because of vaccine mandates. In Canada, over 1300 soldiers, including most of the remaining veterans from Afghanistan are due for dismissal this summer unless they comply with vaccine mandates.

You wouldn’t be out. They’ll hold you down to vaccinate and beat you and throw you into prison until you say the required words. The armies of the world have a lot of experience in making unwilling draftees into soldiers and it’s not pretty.
This is what happens when Schools and Universities teach American children that their country is basically a bunch of racists and fascists. This is what happens when Democratic Politicians go on CNN and say that half the country are filled with rednecks with low IQ’s.
It tends to make young people think there is nothing worth defending in the racist hellhole they are being brought up in.
Who wants to serve under a government (US or Canada) that betrayed the very values which once exemplified the nation? When governments no longer represent the mainstream of society, those who once stood to defend it will no longer comply. And guess what, both the US and Canadian military used to attract mainly white boys, and rural ones at that. Now those white boys are being told to shut up, sit down and cede their place. And that’s what they’re doing because they’re sure as hell not risking their necks for Trudeau, Biden, and globohomo. Let the preferred genders, races, and orientations serve. What’s that? Gays, trannies and non-whites aren’t very interested? Too bad.

Reality is that recruiting was highest when our troops were in combat in Afghanistan fighting the good fight against evil.
