Gizmodo- Netflix Kneecapped Its Own Efforts to Champion Diverse Shows, Axed Writers Say
Alongside 150 full time employees Netflix axed Tuesday, dozens of contract writers were shown the door. Bitter tweets flooded in after the job cuts were announced. Many of those writers were part of Netflix’s large-scale diversity communications initiatives, and they said that the struggling streaming giant had left those departments, like the staffers who used to work there, gutted.
So their “diversity communications” department has been gutted?
Does this mean that it finally sank in that there is a lot to the “Go woke, go broke” saying after all?
Perhaps, but to my mind, it just means that not enough people were watching these programs or blogs, and Netflix could not continue to support these departments while they “found their audience”.
As one character said on “Coronation Street” – We all have a sad story, my sad story is that my boss NEVER wants to hear your name again!

With so much content being produced by all the providers, it’s no surprise that the quality of content is significantly watered down. Add to that, the diversity crap being pushed out there, that hardly anyone watches, and it’s no surprise Netflix is encountering a well deserved business correction.
The job’s only half done. They should have filleted and roasted them too.

Netflix needs to learn how to profile – learn that and avoid the unpleasantness – only need to look at their freakish faces and pronouns.

I had Netflix for a little while, but swore off them when they did the kiddie porn thing. It always struck me as odd how much emphasis there was on gay programming. While you could run out of watchable movies in very little time, they still managed to have a whole section dedicated to lgbqt…x? Stuff.

Fear not diversity workers, I am sure the Obama crime family and the Sussex grifter family who were enriched by Netflix will soon offer employment. They will surely not abandon the “important” work they were engaged in, which we all enjoyed so much.
Then again you may wish to appear on the Oprah or Ellen Degenerate shows to emote your situation, they no longer exist you say! Well blow me down.
Sadly Netflix’s true villainous legacy – convincing every hack software “engineer” that microservices were a good idea for anything important – will live on long after their demise.
It was obvious to anyone with at least 2.5 functioning brain cells that microservices was a recipe for pathetically poor performance. You could always compound the issue by writing in interpreted languages “for portability”.
But fear not, all those “engineers” have moved on to containers in their quest to bog down the world.
(Just waiting for them to come up with the idea of hosting each micro-service in its own container!)

Ummm….that’s exactly how micro-services work.
And microservices aren’t a performance problem, they improve overall performance by allowing you to horizontally scale individual parts of the application independently. The trade-off is absolutely unmanageable complexity, at a level that will cost you orders of magnitude more than just throwing more servers at a monolithic app. And don’t get me started on “eventual consistency”.

Fortunately the world seems to have collectively come to its senses and realized that dynamically typed, interpreted languages with hundreds of external run-time dependencies are a terrible idea that needs to die an ugly death.
