The US and EU are over-reaching on Russian sanctions. The end result could be the de-dollarization of the global economy and massive commodity shortages worldwide.

Those with IQs over 50 in the European Union (EU) must have understood that Russia simply could not be totally excluded from SWIFT, but maybe only a few of its banks: after all, European traders depend on Russian energy.

From Moscow’s point of view, that’s a minor issue. A number of Russian banks are already connected to China’s CIPS system. For instance, if someone wants to buy Russian oil and gas with CIPS, payment must be in the Chinese yuan currency. CIPS is independent of SWIFT.

Additionally, Moscow already linked its SPFS payment system not only to China but also to India and member nations of the Eurasia Economic Union (EAEU). SPFS already links to approximately 400 banks.

Collapsing trade with these entities will hugely impact their ability to service their debts, as will the cost of the invasion of the Ukraine. We could see some European banks in trouble before long.

    the biggest reason that the US dollar is the world’s reserve currency is that you can use it pretty much anywhere in the world, and people will accept it, can you say the same about any other currency?

    and the sanctions that the west is putting forth are too leaky, and will simply result in a higher transaction cost for the russians, rather than any long term damage, when willing proxies see that there is money to be made.

  9. Escobar is off base with his prediction of “de-dollarization” of world economy. You have to find another currency in sufficient quantity and confidence in debt service to top the U.S. dollar. So far, there are no plausible alternatives in the fiat world.

    He is also off base with the notion that the collapse in the value of the Ruble will be a boon to the Russian economy. If a collapsing currency was a net positive, Zimbabwe would be the richest country on earth.

    2. At this point in time maybe food with a 25 year life storage and some weapons to keep it may make better sense.
      Hard assets come in handy when you can’t eat your paper shares.
      Also some stuff to trade with like fuel, tools, generators, booze, cigs, ammo, first aid goodies, real world fix it know how experience skills, paper books on how to repair or grow your own food/animal husbandry, seeds, fertilizer, etc.
      Invest in yourself, get fit, take hunting courses/gun smithing, bone up on survival skills, learn self defense.

      Find like minded people and team up with them, on your own survival is limited unless you are a total badazz.
      Community helps keep you grounded and sane.
      Pray to whatever God you worship , to survive what is coming.

          You should see the difference in storable food prices from 10 years ago on 25 – 30 year food. Easily double or more. Seemed expensive to many then, today it’s a bargain and cheaper than groceries today if you wanted to supplement your bill a little. Even a better bargain in another 5 or 10.
