    Further to this, when one has a long standing “admiration for basic dicatorship” it should naturally disqualify one for the leadership of an ostensibly democratic nation. The comparisons to “Uncle Adolf”; given his fascination and inability to query, negotiate or even reason perhaps the comparison is valid and deserving of black comedic commentary.

    Meanwhile, the Emergency Act announcement doesn’t even get debate, because no one is willing to show up to a democracy among elected MPs…hmm.

        Yeah, the movie impressed enough as a kid that I had to find out about the tune.

            I’m not sure it was his idea, as it is tightly integral to the plot (maintaining military discipline amongst POWs). Some form of march was necessary and the one most popular with actual soldiers through two world wars is a fairly obvious choice.

      Today for this very reason I put the gas and match to my RCAF uniform. I no longer believe in the nation that I served for over 20 years. The gutless cowards can all stand in Parliament and debate with such “passion” to the cameras, but when they are duty-bound to protect the Charter Rights of all Canadians they take a day off for safety and feelings. These idiots couldn’t meet somewhere else or use Zoom? It is crystal clear to me that the Opposition decided to give the lil tater his little moment so that he doesn’t get the sack from the Liberal brass. It’s sickening to see that when the curtains are pulled aside that these political parasites are all sides to the same dice and merely in it for their own greedy selves. Meanwhile, my CD sits on my table awaiting its fate… death by bench grinder or should I send it to my waste of skin MP to say “congratulations…you contributed to destroying what was once the best country in the world! Enjoy your new shiny bauble, it used to mean something.”?
      The sad thing is in a few months these bastards will have the nerve to show up at Canada Day celebrations as if nothing happened…we should shun every one of them.

        1. It has been an emotional day for all of us. Anybody that has actually served this formerly great nation is no doubt questioning whether they wasted those years of their life or not. The grifters and parasites seem to be the ones that are motivated to seek elected office and once elected they conveniently forget the promises of openness and transparency that they ran on. We now have a situation where we may all wind up in trouble with our elected officials because we dared to have an opinion that differed from theirs.

      2. I’ve been thinking of mailing my medals back to the GG under whose authority they were issued, with a pointed letter about the state of the nation and her duties as representative of our head of state.

        1. I understand where you are coming from as I initially had the same thought. For me the problem is that the current GG has no attachment to or grasp of any military or Vet issues… so in a nutshell, I don’t have any confidence that it would actually mean anything to her. Does she actually understand the full nature of her role, or is just a great gig that allows her to push what issues matter to her? Let’s face it, we are in Terra Incognita now…
