The CBC and the rest of the “woke” media are excited that Ryerson University will change its name. The narrative is that Ryerson committed genocide in residential schools. Ryerson is known as the founder of public education in Ontario. He lived and was adopted by an Indian tribe, and was invited by chiefs to develop agriculture programs so Indians could feed themselves. He was a believer in providing education to the tribes so they could function in a modern society. Residential schools came after his death, and scholars have stated that he would have been shocked at the abuses that occurred. But hey, it doesn’t fit the narrative that all things colonial are racist. Turtle Island University??

You are correct that the globalists are destroying nation states, but Canada isn’t one anymore and arguably never was. When half our population weren’t even born here and our civic virtues are multiculturalism and free stuff there is no nation to be loyal to, just a bureaucratic and political entity. They have Afghanistan still 15 years behind the times in politics and still have a strong Military drive as our politicians became even more policy driven and boot the military out for political advisors giving the Taliban all they could ever dream of by negotiations. They even gave lists of people the US government wanted out of Afghanistan protection to the airport.
As you’re witnessing, the Taliban used Military might when the US Military was completely pulled out and taking all this new advanced technology and weapons.
As our governments and politicians changed for this buddy, buddy all in this together crap, and totally away from any thoughts or advice from our Military or any type of planning.
That is just my take on what and why the Afghanistan withdrawal was so successful for the Taliban.

Ryerson was known as the founder of public education in Ontario. That was his big mistake right there. Public education was what led to his demise. If you look at the long term success of public education in the western world, it turns out it was one of our dumber ideas.
De-fund universities, they are unfit for purpose. Obviously.
Both CBC News and the Globe and Mail have disabled comments to the Ryerson university announcement. Must not allow the mere public any say in the matter.
A related note: the announcement takes place during a hotly contested election. One wonders how voters will react, especially in a swing province like Ontario.

My experience at Ryerson exposed a NWOntario youth to students and teachers from places far beyond Canada.

About four years ago the Regina Public School Board, under pressure from parents and activists, had a ‘debate’ on the renaming of Davin school, but in their twisted views Nicholas Flood David was the main reason for residential schools based on a report he wrote in 1879 about industrial schools in the US something very different. I wrote a long letter to board members pointing out the various statements he made in his report which countered EVERYTHING that residential schools became. He died in 1901 before residential schools got any traction. A few board members contacted me and said that they agreed, but they wanted to support parents (who were ignorant gits) and the First Nations communities. So the name was changed and Davin was tarred. I asked in the letter if any of the school board members, parents or activists had ever read the Davin report – but that was irrelevant to the ’cause’. I was forever disgusted with that small group of elected officials (not that being a school board member means much). But it shows the power of indulged people – Davin school is smack in the middle of an old rich neighbourhood (Old Lakeview/Crescents) and the residents are very, very well paid government/crown bureaucrats who would never be seen in North Central and probably have NO contact with indigenous populations except as required by their jobs. The ‘activist’ are the same people that show up at every protest trying to appear edgy and radical (before they go back to their comfortable homes/jobs). Sickening. If anyone is interested, I posted my letter on my facebook page (I was cleaning up computer files and came across it and several other letters to various politicians)
