          One of my late father’s buddies used to be an RCAF fighter jock who flew F-86s. One day, he had the opportunity to sit in the simulator for the Arrow and he was, apparently, impressed. When Dief pulled the plug, that former pilot’s support for him evaporated.

            The real tragedy was the government allowing all those engineers to drain south to the US space program, but what were they going to work on otherwise? Some pointless government make-work project?

        2. When I arrived in Canada from the UK in 1978, my first job was in the old Avro factory at the NE corner of Pearson. Part of that time I was working in the section of the factory where the Arrow was assembled, and a few co-workers were there on Black Friday, so I got plenty of first-hand descriptions of that time.

          That part of the factory was building DC-9 wings. DC-10 wings were built in a newer building right at the corner of Derry & Airport Roads.

          The site has now been levelled.

Now if a vaccine passports actually provided any protection or safety that might be different but vaccines passports do not increase safety or decrease vaccine hesitancy. They do nothing but divide communities and make two classes of people with 20-30% of the population becoming pariahs.

      So true. I had a dentist appointment mid-March and, since we were locked up, I decided to walk to my appointment. It’s close enough and since all businesses were shuttered, I couldn’t go anywhere afterwards so I didn’t need to take the car. On my walk home, I was crossing on a green light and a car approaching the intersection, making a right turn on a red light, wasn’t stopping; he wasn’t even slowing down. Thank God I stopped in time or I would have been seriously injured, if not dead. I was a frickin’ mess that day but hubby and I later joked that if I had died, it would have been attributed to COVID.

      Man, I have to ditto that one, greatly respected him as a politician. I have mentioned here many times before his use of the phrase “Dome Disease” to describe how ALL politicians eventually lose touch with their constituents after spending enough time in the ‘hallowed halls’ of parliament. I used to regularly hike Nose Hill in Calgary on Saturdays, listening to his call-in radio show on CHQR on my 2lb Walkman.

      An honorable mention for me would be Deborah Grey and her performance as the only sitting Reform member, though I readily admit I am probably remembering her with ‘rose-colored glasses’.
