Worst Case Scenarios only, please.

This commentary’s findings are not all that surprising to anyone who has seen the headlines about Covid in the Mainstream Media over the past year.

“In June, CNN served up a particularly flagrant example of Covid scaremongering: an article titled “Healthy teenager who took precautions died suddenly of Covid-19.

The many who skimmed the headline received an anecdotal infusion of fearful misinformation. The minority who made it to the tenth paragraph would finally learn that doctors treating the purportedly “healthy” yet visibly obese teen found he had Type 1 diabetes with a blood sugar level 10 times the norm.

Two months earlier, the Centers for Disease Control announced that about 90% of those hospitalized with the virus had one or more underlying conditions. Among the most common were obesity (48%) and diabetes (28%). Rather than using this teen’s grim story to enlighten the public about who is at greatest risk, CNN aggressively pushed a perception that nobody is safe.”

“When predicted surges don’t happen, the media gives little attention to the happy news that their alarms proved false. Instead, they’re apparently hard at work drafting warnings about whatever’s next on the calendar.”

  1. This virus seems have specific parameters on people it attacks and effects the most.
Same with this vaccination that mysteriously suddenly appeared.
Add in Joe Biden President by China by way of computers being manipulated.
Now what if this fully computerized ship is hacked and plugs this channel.
Seems that the US is systematically being attacked.

You did say worst case scenario…

  2. It’s been clear for years to many of us, before COVID, that the media is an organized enemy of the common person.
There is no Canadian media, it’s a propaganda service for the far left.
COVID is just an exclamation mark in their deception strategy. Shame on the public too, for being lazy, and not doing their research. It’s not like it’s been hard to find the details, counter stories, and the facts to support the real picture, that has been hidden by obfuscation.
If we had a real intuitive, investigative, curious and unbiased media, they would have been calling for the resignations of all MHOs and Every political government leader in this country.
Instead, we get looked down upon and told by the incestuous media to OBEY and FOLLOW ORDERS and DrBonnie is NICE, OBEY!
Anything counter to the official leftist government edict is declared a CONSPIRACY THEORY!

    1. Please posts comments like this at cbc news blogs.. I want to see fatal head explosions. Some commenters over there have like 25,000 comments to their credit. Most are Harper,Harper,Harper,Drump,Drump,Drump, so paid libscum..you will be periodically censored of course. But worth it..

    2. As someone, who only last year realized that the media is completely biased in their reporting, it doesn’t dawn on most people to look for alternate news sources.

Until last year, my political leaning was left-of-center and I subscribed to the weekend edition of the Toronto Star. When I travelled for business in the mid 1990’s until the early 2000’s, I read the Globe & Mail or National Post (whichever one the hotel supplied) and when I travelled to the US, I read the Wall Street Journal.

But never, ever, did it occur to me that what I was reading wasn’t the truth.

A few years ago, I began tiring of the Star’s constant “victim” stories, the focus on Indigenous, etc. I was also sick and tired of the constant Trump bashing in the media even though I wasn’t necessarily a Trump fan.

Last year it finally dawned on me that my political views had changed. Part of this realization was discovering blogs like this and seeing a COMPLETELY different perspective. A few months later, I cancelled my Star subscription and left Facebook. Haven’t been on Twitter for years so that platform didn’t matter.

The transition has been interesting to say the least. When I talk to my daughters – who get most of their news from Facebook feeds – I’m cautious what I say because I know their take on things is different than mine. For SOME things. For instance, my oldest daughter thinks the Covid restrictions are ludicrous while my other daughter and her fiancé, are terrified of catching or spreading Covid.

The general public isn’t necessarily lazy. They just don’t know they are being duped. They take the information they are given at face value and act accordingly.

      1. The press is now basically 100% liberal government propaganda here and democrat propaganda in the USA. Australia of all places actually still has a somewhat functioning press but I’d still be weary.

The safest bet is to always assume the headline is fake and the article is even more so.

  3. Now study the negative ratio of COVID stories before and after Jan. 20, 2021.

Shall I predict the results? 95% negative prior to Jan. 20, 2021 … only 28% negative after

  4. I know that seems to contradict believing in free speech but I think it should be illegal for the media to lie.

they should inform people, not brainwash them with twisted and embellished facts and lies.

It is illegal for food producers to say their products contain things they don t contain, for example coke and pepsi cannot say that a can contains as much protein as 2 pounds of beef, well it should be illegal for the media to twist, embellish the truth and lie.

Lying, deceiving and misinforming ( often to help criminals such as Antifa or Joe-bribing-Biden )is not free speech.

    1. Excellent analogy with truth in food ingredients … the argument being the need to protect “public safety”. What could be MORE important than the ACCURATE “advertising” of candidates who will shape EVERYTHING affecting the populace. Lying about something so VERY consequential in every person’s life should be a felonious crime punishable by no less than 5-years in ‘pound you in the ass’ Federal Prison.

    2. Facts vs opinions. Reality vs feelings. This is where the problems lie.

I’m pretty absolutist in the free-speech arena, but this dichotomy is where my brain (such as it is) undergoes serious stress. I don’t know the right answer, here, because I’m fairly sure anything we did would come back to bite us in the ass.

  5. Neil Ferguson warns Britons could face having to spend summer at home. That guy predicted 2.2 million dead in the first few month of the outbreak in the US. As for his previous prophecies in regards to pandemics, he got them all catastrophically wrong. Mad Cow he predicted 500k in briton alone will die 127 did. The same with swine flue but here he is again in the MSM as if all his prophecies had been absolutely accurate.

    1. Look at Theressa Tam’s chart on the variant crap a few weeks back. Utter bullshit as usual.

  6. Doc here.

If you are extremely sick from any illness, let alone Covid-19, your blood sugar is going to rise significantly as part of your body’s stress response.

If you’re a type I diabetic – and we don’t know what his glycemic control was like – it’s going to rise even more.

    Duh.

    1. I did the conversion from 1500 US(mg/dl) to what we use here in Canada UK(mmol/L) came out to 83.3!!!! OMG
his blood was syrup, for those not familiar, between 4 and 8 is great…. I was hospitalized with a 34mmol/L I simply cannot imagine 83..
His Mom, Dawn, is a nurse, from the article: “Dawn, who was at the hospital with Andre, decided not to get tested because, according to Riley’s policy, if she tested positive she would not be allowed back into the hospital until she tested negative twice.”
      oh my…..

  7. The real death toll is the number given minus

    (a) any cases where mortality was likely in any case (e.g. the 97-year-old who “died of COVID19” etc).

    (b) any fraudulent cases where an autopsy after death obviously from another cause turned up a positive for COVID19 (e.g. the dead accident victim or heart attack victim who at random had contracted COVID19).

One wonders if that real death toll would sound a lot less gruesome. In terms of assessing the governmental responses, it would be fair to compare deaths avoidable from (a) suicides due to economic stress created and (b) missed medical interventions or surgeries due to COVID19 fears or supposed strains on systems.

  8. Being a collectivist means never having to admit you’re incompetent. Neoregals rule and don’t allow peasant second guessing.

  9. More data and facts here. The goverment has used media for fear mongering tactics. But, there are so many sheepishly following.
Mark Twain: It is easy to fool some people, more difficult to convince them that they have been fooled.
Nick Hudson ( Pandemic Data and Analytics) encourages us to fight back!

  10. They’re going hardcore with variant scaremongering now that the jog us almost up. They really don’t want to ever give up on lockdowns. If we really do get most people vaccinated by September then we’ll have a small window to get our freedoms back. If we don’t demand it then it’s over forever.

    1. We will need to fight to get our freedoms back. Like armed conflict. We MAY be able to convince the queen to remove our government and start again but I doubt it.

  11. I am old enough to remember when straight non drug users were scolded on our risk for AIDS even though we knew that our comparative risk was tiny.
