    1. As far as the McCain Institute, he started it with $8 million in cash from political contributions he did not spend and they get to keep, which nobody ever talks about. The McCain Institute has accepted money also from George Soros and from Teneo, which was the company of Doug Band, the former President Bill Clinton’s “bag man.” Teneo has long helped enrich Clinton through lucrative speaking and business deals. It has even been alleged that the Clinton’s told McCain how to do it. Hillary even defends McCain.

    Discharging firearm results in arrests. October 11, 2018 01:00AM, Release 2018-0745

    Police have 4 people in custody after reports of gunshots in the Pleasant Hill and Westmount areas of the city. Just after 9:30 PM responding officers discovered 3 women and a man in possession of a sawed off shotgun. The 4 were arrested in the 400 block of Ave M North. after they had apparently randomly fired the weapon while walking in the area. It is not clear what they were shooting at but there have been no related reports of injuries or damage.

    The women ages 21, 22 and 24 and the man, 23 are all facing firearm related charges and will be in court Thursday.

    Before the gun control of the Progressive Conservatives/Liberals(C-17-1991, C-68-1995), such public menaces would have quickly experienced a citizen’s arrest at gun point and then held for the police. Nor would they dare to resist arrest.

    Upon arrival, the police would have thanked the armed citizen(s) for their assistance. They would have received a thank you letter from the police chief. Also, likely being nominated for Citizen of the Year.

    I sorely miss the 20th Century when good citizens, including children(me) and the elderly were safe on the streets. Then violent criminals hid in their homes, called the criminal underground, fearing the rule of law. In the 21st Century, like Alice in Wonderland, it’s topsy turvy, upside down.

    So who voted for those Cult. Marxists anyway? We were told, we won the Cold War. Someone lied.

I tend to be a pessimist in everything, so with the upcoming U.S. mid-terms, I am thinking that the M.A.D. cartel (the media-academic-Democratic party cartel) will take over at least one congressional house, presumably the House of Representatives. This will usher in impeachment hearings against Donald Trump. As one capable commentator put it, the Kavanaugh hysteria is just the precursor to a possible impeachment hysteria.

    Over the decades, it has been depressing to study the grassroots power imbalance, between the well-organized left and the largely disorganized right. Simply put, the left has the volunteers and huge amounts of funding. The power imbalance is horribly skewed in Canada, less so in the U.S. But reports have it that billionaire leftists will be funding large pro-Democrat campaigns for November. I read pro-Trump blogs saying key Senate races are firming up in favour of Republicans, given the Kavanaugh circus. But look for huge out-spending by the Democrats this November.

    I do not have numbers handy, but the only true conservative grassroots work over the past 20 years, in North American, has been the U.S. Republican party. They have done well in state and federal politics. I hope their organizing savvy continues.

We need to hammer home the point gun violence is a social problem, not a gun problem, and further restricting firearms will not solve the social problems that cause gun and gang violence. Oh, and don’t use third-world immigration as a cause of gun and gang violence. It might be true, but pointing it out in this questionnaire will cause TPTB to reject your argument.

  5. On his visit to India Andrew Scheer presents quite a contrast to our Dear Leader on all fronts. He’s not playing Mr Dress up with his family in tow, taking pictures for the family album, making an ass of himself and embarrassing us all, he’s acting like an adult.

      1. It’s unfortunate that the Conservative Party is now controlled by the same people as when Mulrooney was leader. The Desmarais family now call the shots for both the Liberals and the Conservatives. It’s not ideal, however our only chance at any actual conservative governance now rests with the PPC. Split the vote you say? Getting rid of Trudeau is of little interest when both him and Scheer want the same thing for Canadians. Just as with the Alberta Conservative Party and Wildrose, the leftists must be run back to the Liberal fold. It’s painful, but our children and grandchildren’s futures depend on it.

          Even if Max wasn’t concerned with many of the same issues I am (he is) I would still be against Scheer for that alone. That he is a weak, politically correct imitation of Shiny Socks doesn’t help either.

      1. Just about any ad for a university faculty position is worded in a way that, reading between the lines, heterosexual white men need not apply, regardless of qualifications and experience.

        Considering the idiocies that are going on in academe nowadays, why would any sane person want to be a professor nowadays? Many academics don’t like what’s happening, either, but they refuse to give up their tenure and the benefits it gives them.

    3. I’m reminded of the video I saw a few months ago in which students in South Africa advocated for the “decolonialization” of science. Rather than teaching science from first principles, they should learn how to do things like throw lightning.

    1. It seems that many engineering professors that are hired nowadays are foreigners. Meanwhile, there are professional engineers who are equally as qualified who can’t get a faculty position.
