  1. Stay calm,we’ve seen this before, many times.I was personally involved in fighting many forest fires back in the 70’s and 80’s,only then the national media didn’t sensationalize the situation as they do now.
The government(s) of B.C. have revamped the B.C. Forest service and closed most of the Ranger stations throughout the Province, and I wonder if some of the reason these fires are getting away is because there are no first responders in the local area as we used to have it set up.
Most of the guys I worked with in the BCFS had a background in the forest industry and they took these fires personally, with a commitment to extinguish them asap. The situation has changed for the past 35 years, with most forestry management conducted out of major centers by people who never set foot in the bush until they graduated with their degree from UBC.
Progress, I suppose, with the new agenda in the hands of experts.

  2. Trees have under natural selection become perfect roman candles so that their seeds can be dispersed and life cycle renewed. people have decided to build homes among these trees. then wonderpanin why they burn. kinda like building beside the water because its so scenic then wonder why they get flooded out.

  3. Good thing there aren’t any extra pipelines to help pay…
Either cut ’em down, or they burn down…silly damn people. Commune behaviour, although even the Indians knew better than to let the firewood build up.

  4. Extinguishing fires so early is a reason we have these problems. Thankfully forest management is more enlightened now, at least in Yellowstone, where fires are usually allowed to burn.

  5. Just after Alberta elected an NDP government thousands of houses burned. I’m not sure what God is telling us.

  6. So … the environmentally … sensitive … thing to do is to BURN DOWN the forest … to “save” the forest ? Arrrghhh … I consider it the vegetative equivalent to aborting gestating children … to save the child from being “unwanted. Surely, an intelligent species such as man can develop an alternative to the “natural” clear-cutting of our forest lands ? Have you actually driven through Yellowstone post pyro-Forest Service non-management ? It is ghastly.

  7. Are the lefties in BC going to establish a carbon tax to offset the damage to our atmosphere?? How many gallons of petroleum do we have to burn to equal the damage that is being done there?? And do remember that a lot of those fires are set my certain individuals who get jobs putting them out. I just hope the wind keeps blowing from the east.

  8. Heh, it’s a wonder the trees survived all those years prior to being ‘managed’ by the communist created parks authorities. More parasites…

  9. http://joannenova.com.au/2015/07/forest-fires-may-produce-as-much-co2-as-half-of-all-fossil-fuels-burned/
Yeah, bring on the carbon taxes. Tourism is going to take a hell of a hit in B.C. this year,so the incoming communist government will have to raise fees and taxes significantly to make up for lost revenue.Better get my hunting licence before they go up.
Politicians, except possibly the Greens, know damned well it’s all a charade but they have to figure out a way to steal more from us so “climate change/carbon taxes” is as good an excuse as any.
I’d like to know how much co2 is produced by burning up ten thousand square km of timber.
Probably more than all our cars running for a year.

  10. Maybe the BC dips lent The Alberts Dips all their water bombers this summer – Forest fires seem to be a dip government land mark

  11. we are in little fort two significant fires..delayed response to the fires in presence of sub contractors who are not working yet…….BC is in over their heads. it is gonna be a very long summer………thank god for the NDP..not

  12. No word yet of RCMP not wasting this opportunity to kick in the doors of houses evacuated by gun owners?

  13. forests have been burning for millions of years and most of that naturally. people are now living where no one lived for thousands of years. logic is difficult for some. arson of course is a different matter.

  14. Well, maybe the people who live there ought to be allowed to manage the situation…you know, cut down some trees, create a firebreak. Do for themselves for a change…
And don’t build in flood areas and cry you were flooded out…
