  1. I remember hearing that song on WRNO Worldwide, a shortwave station that no longer exists in its original form.

  2. In 1967, my generation build Expo 67! And yes, I think we got it right! I didn’t work on Expo but I did help to raise the money with the taxes that were taken off my paycheck as a bullodozer operator here in Saskatchewan. That was when Ross Thatcher was building highways and the Gardiner Dam project. They used to say, ”In a month, the CCF couldn’t harrow what Ross Thatcher plows in a day.” I also believe Lester B. Pearson was an good PM, although my family supported Dief.
Yesterday, July 01, 2017, in our nation’s capital, they couldn’t organize a wiener roast and a fireworks display without screwing up. What a f”/$ing shame!
    Twas just a thought.

  3. Wow, what a stunningly stupid bunch of pap. Maybe Trudeau would be well advised to just smile and keep his hair coifed, that’s what got him elected, and STFU.

  4. Kenji, you are aware that these people and those that pander to them are disturbed and require treatment, right? The floundering media is sensationalizing this sort of midway bearded lady freak show in an attempt to maintain sales. Yellow journalism at its worst.
Someone, should be charged with child abuse.

  5. Socialism’s F.A.I.L.: the religion of the stomach’s natural end result.
“The flashpoint has been the failure of the neighborhood food program.”
“In western Caracas, fury erupts when food program falters”
    …-
“Venezuela’s Poor Rebel, Roiling Maduro’s Socialist Strongholds
In Caracas, the rich and poor are suddenly less divided.
For most of Venezuela’s two-decade socialist experiment, the city’s wealthier, whiter east has been the hotbed of anti-government sentiment. Now, noisy protests are erupting in poorer-but-calmer western neighborhoods that were strongholds for embattled President Nicolas Maduro as crime explodes and medicine and food are scarce and expensive.”

  6. Yup. In the 7 years from 1964 to 1971 Ross Thatcher and his government built and improved more roads than was built during the 20 years that followed them and they did it with a balanced budget. He was the last Liberal who had a lick of common sense.
Remember when PET told the assembled Liberals that they should stop acting like a version of the Conservative party.

  7. Well said, Rob … although that THING in the photo reminded me of a … Dude who looks like a lady … rather than a bearded lady. Note, I substituted “THING” for parent. No parent would behave like this. And, no Virginia, there is NO SUCH THING as a genderless parent (or child).

  8. Ah, but don’t you remember the saying that goes something like: “You can be it if you believe it?”

  9. Random thoughts:
    A. Pure capitalism here:
    https://www.knowledge.ca/program/men-who-made-us-fat
I’ve seen all 3 episodes, the beating down of some bloke who very early on claimed the hysteria about consuming fat was seriously misdirected. And how a handful of men caused the pandemic of obesity by getting we sheeple to gobble billions of tons of sugar, esp. the notorious ‘high fructose corn syrup’.
Well, there is a LOT of money involved and the default response is ‘yawell yawell yawell we’re just responding to market demand’. True. Following the actions of corrupted research ‘scientists’ on the payroll of the producers and marketers. Etc etc.
Once in a while at the mall or groc store or street, I take an inventory of walruses and sure enough, there they are, wobbling and gobbling. Disgusting.
    B. who are these ‘kardashians’? apparently they have a ‘reality’ series. Who are they? How can I get a ‘reality’ show started so people can watch me pick my nose, fart on the bus, toke up in my backyard and insult politishuns of all stripes?
    C. when I was a teenager, the worst possible thing I could have imagined happening in my future, didn’t. I am assuredly NOT and NEVER will be a fan of Lawrence welk like my parents were at this age. ah, bust classic rock. oy vey. I remember listening to my buddy’s copy of the first led zep album thinking, Finally !!!
    D. the still extinct east coast cod fishery. Thanks to all the gutless politishuns including the smarmy john crosby who allowed the Spaniards, Icelanders, japs, brits and whoever the fcuk else showed up with their factory ships scooping 1000s of tons of fish in one trip. Thank you gutless lieberals and conservatists for letting that happen. How long have the Grand Banks existed? 100 million years or so? How long did the cod set up house there? Half a million years? That exquisite ballet of the balance of nature, just enough predators to cull the old and weak to keep the main group robust and plentiful. Poof!!
Plan B for the gutless canuckistan politishuns: blame it all on the seals.

  10. well, I think this is a useful portend of the severe fcukups we are in for the entire time justine is in the PMO.
there is always a silver lining eh?
    a. why not more security lines?
    b. why not monitor the LENGTH of said lines and halt anyone joining in if hill lawn capacity is now met?
    c. why not hire some welfarers to empty the g**amn garbage cans every hour?
    d. etc etc
why not? because its all about image and feelings and celebrating diversity bla bla bla. and THAT is right out of the lieberal playbook.

  11. This website is slowly dying. If not for the tips, this would be a wasteland. Nice people and all that, but the content is that of a coffee shop news letter. Kate, where is your focus? Dogs? Website? Art? Figure it out.

  12. Why don’t they hire terrorist immigrants to run the security lines in Ottawa? Oops – maybe they did.

  13. “If not for the tips”
My rude impertinent question is – does anyone actually read the Tips other than me? It seems that about one out of 100 of the most interesting stories readers find end up with a thread of their own and I’m guessing this isn’t far from random.

  14. Re historybuff: “D. the still extinct east coast cod fishery.”
    …-
“Northern cod moratorium 25 years old
Stock finally showing signs of positive growth that may lead to lifting of moratorium in coming years” (packet)
    …-
Cod stocks moved away naturally; not due to overfishing.
“Proof that claims of overfishing was the problem, is that the numbers haven’t recovered, even though there has been no fishing since 1993.”
    “Salmon, Climate, And Accountability
    By Dr. Tim Ball”
“The Canadian Department of Fisheries used similar declining cod population numbers on the East Coast to stop the cod fishery completely. This devastated the Province of Newfoundland, because it was akin to going to Kansas and saying you can’t grow wheat anymore. It also led to closing many “outport” communities and moving the people to bigger centers, disrupting centuries old cultures and traditions. The frustration for Oceanographer, Roger Pocklington and I, was, we were monitoring ocean water temperatures and their causes and warning Ottawa that cod numbers were going to decline because of changing conditions. Nobody listened! A complete way of life was destroyedunnecessarily, because the cod moved to inshore waters and out into warming Gulf Stream waters where Europeans continued to catch them. Canadian fishermen were banned from fishing in these areas. Proof that claims of overfishing was the problem, is that the numbers haven’t recovered, even though there has been no fishing since 1993. The sad irony is the government and its bad decisions, that would have devastated the economy, were offset by increased revenue from the Hibernia oil discovery – saved by the fossil fuel devil.”

  15. Re: Historybuff Concerning D (foreigners scooping up fish) I have been thinking about that for 30 years.

  16. If anyone thinks a young French aristocrat / trust fund baby is going to stand up for English Canada and Alberta, you better turn the TV off for a couple of weeks and get your head straight.

  17. “a young French aristocrat”
Well, I suppose he’s “French” in the same way that Barack Obama is “black”: through his father.
But in fact (for those who care about such things) our Dear Leader is much more “anglo” than “Québécois pure laine”: his mother is Margaret Sinclair and his paternal grandmother was Grace Elliott.

  18. I saw bongo fist pumping at the Ottawa birthday party. Too bad nobody was able to get in. Sparce crowd.
He was characteristicly shallow and juvenile juxtaposed with the classy remarks by former prime minister Stephen Harper.
Perhaps bongo isn’t as dimwitted as he has been accused but nobody has called him an intellectual.

  19. A man in quebec has been sentenced to 200 hours of community work because he said the truth about islam.
trudeau’s canada is now a dictatorship where you can be arrested for your opinion…
sorry, I can not find the same article in English… basically the guy posted parts of the koran and explained what islam is about…and that was called hainous by that female judge ( I’d bet money she’s a liberal ).

  20. And the super competent Trudeau administration spent how many billions on this cluster? I hope the honeymoon is over for the “but he’s got nice hair” deep thinkers, so we can kick this moron to the curb at the earliest opportunity. Maybe they held his part time job in the grade 4 drama class for him.

  21. He clearly considers himself “French” as he’s never said anything negative about Quebec. After all, according to him, all the best prime ministers came from there.

  22. I hope the honeymoon is over for the “but he’s got nice hair” deep thinkers
It isn’t and it won’t be. I remember how PET’s policies hurt a lot of people outside the Toronto-Quebec City corridor and, yet, he kept getting elected.

  23. You must have forgotten how AGW works … let me remind you …
Every HOT ‘day’ is proof-positive that AGW is REAL and it is killing the planet.
Every COLD ‘day’ is apropos of NOTHING … because you are confusing weather with climate.
And THAT is called … “science”

  24. And THAT is called … “science”
It’s more than just “science”. It’s a way to guarantee funding and, thereby, keeping one’s place in the academic gravy train.
I noticed this while I was a grad student. While negative results are supposed to be seen as valid and indicative of the truth, which in fact they are, they are seldom accepted.
A negative result is often interpreted that one is a lousy researcher. Good researchers never publish negative results. Good researchers never get negative results. Good researchers already know what the results will be in advance and will tailor their investigations accordingly.
Besides, no funding agency wants to finance research that produces negative results.

  25. Thanks for that post.It made my blood boil! I posted a comment that I hope they will have the courage to leave up. I get really pissed off when someone suggests new immigrants are MORE Canadian than us “old stock” Canadians whose ancestors built this Country and fought and died for it. My comment reflects that emotion.
Trudeau is capable of this idiotic thinking because his family wasn’t invested in Canada, but only the glory of Quebec, and his family didn’t partake of the worst conflict in history,a true fight for survival of the civilized world.
Trudeau is and always has been an intellectual lightweight, and every time his words aren’t written on a teleprompter for him by Gerald Butts he makes a damned fool of himself. We can hope and pray that the masses have enough reason left to see that this idiot shouldn’t be running a corner store let alone a Country.

  26. I think I’m going to hurl !
However, did you notice the WAPO apparently couldn’t find any children ovvvvv cullllor to sing and dance their message of HATE ? I suspect these are the children of WAPO executives, and writers. Children who attend Sidwell Friends … NOT the D.C. Public Skool system. Suffice to say, the choir would have been a few shades darker had they actually trolled for children outside their elitist liberal bubble.

  27. The President(s) of the United States
    http://dailycaller.com/2017/07/03/obama-meets-with-south-korean-president-to-discuss-trump/
AYFKM ? What the hell, and WHO the hell does Obama think he is ? I think the media adoration, and the whole savior-complex thing has made this EX-President into a megalomaniac. Why doesn’t he go do something noble (and REAL) … like hanging curtains in homes built by Habitat for Humanity.
Dude … get OFF the stage, and get OUT of MY President’s way. Get out of MY way !

  28. My theory is that Justin is a kind fellow, he didn’t want Albertans to hear all those boos from Ontario liberals assembled in Otta-waaah.

  29. Europe is dead.
    …-
“Macron proposes ‘radically new path’ for France in Europe that has ‘lost its way'” (scmpost)
    …-
“All European Life Died In Auschwitz
I walked down the street in Barcelona, and suddenly discovered a terrible truth – Europe died in Auschwitz.
We killed six million Jews and replaced them with 20 million Muslims.
In Auschwitz we burned a culture, thought, creativity, talent. We destroyed the chosen people, truly chosen, because they produced great and wonderful people who changed the world.”

  30. We can hope and pray that the masses have enough reason left to see that this idiot shouldn’t be running a corner store let alone a Country.
    They won’t.
The reason is best expressed in the Robert Redford movie The Candidate. He plays a Democratic candidate for the U. S. Senate and, in one scene, his character meets with a prominent union leader. The discussion doesn’t go well and the union boss later chats privately with that character’s father:
    http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0068334/quotes?item=qt0271927
That’s how we ended up with Prime Minister Hair Gel.

  31. Newfoundlanders are currently fishing shrimp to extinction. It’s what they do. Fish until the fish are gone. Then complain to the Federal Fisheries about foreign trawlers and demand compensation. More recently scientists have warned of the capelin being over-fished.
    Cod in 1992.
    Snow crab in 2000.
    Shrimp in 2015.
    Capelin in 2016.
    Over-fishing is now climate change.
