  1. The fool bongo suggested the Americans called him to advise of the impending missile attack. Bullshit. They know full well that if he knew he would immediately notify his muzzie buds or the Intel would be intercepted by a muzzie embedded in the PMO.

  2. As I understand the chain of events, U.S. Defence Secretary Jim Mattis called Defence Minister Harjit Sajjan, who then briefed the prime minister. It’s obvious that the Americans ignore Trudy as insignificant and have relegated him/her to Wymins Issues. On matters of National Defense, of course they will communicate with the one member of Trudy’s cabinet who actually has balls.

  3. With respect to the thread about Vimy Ridge from yesterday, I remember watching the entire series of For King and Empire, as well as the ones about WW II and Korea, more than a decade ago and thought they was excellent.
It saddens me to think those were made when History Television was still worth viewing. I haven’t looked at that channel in years.

  4. thought they was excellent.
That should read: “though they were excellent.”
Gee, I’m getting sloppy with my editing in my old age….

  5. I do the same when I’m tired. Today I drove all day. Tonight, I should leave posting commnets to younger people!!

  6. Driving all day….. I know the feeling. I drove several hundred km to my father’s house a week ago to do some work there as part of settling his estate. Three days later, I returned home because I have business to attend to.
I’ll be repeating that a lot in the next few months.

  7. Sweden terrorist ‘planned to attack Parliament’ but stopped by quick-thinking bystander
A VAN driver who swerved in front of the Stockholm terrorist saved hundreds of lives by forcing him
to lose control of his hijacked beer lorry and thunder into a department store.

Chaos at tube stations as major disruption on Central Line
Santiago Cueva, 27, spent an extra 10 minutes eating lunch with a colleague before heading back to work
    – a decision that ultimately prevented the attacker from smashing into Sweden’s parliament building.
He told MailOnline that he wanted to protect Sweden’s government building, which was only 500m from
where the horrifying attack took place.
He said: “First I saw the lorry smash through lamp-posts, benches and flowerpots. Then I saw people
    flying into the air.
Santiago Cueva bravely drove in front of the terrorist’s van
“I felt certain that the lorry was going to continue down Drottninggatan straight towards Parliament. The
driver’s aim was clearly to continue down the entire street and hit Parliament.
“What I do remember most clearly is the noise. There was a loud noise coming from the lorry, the sound of
thuds as it hit people, and it just kept growing and growing. It was unpleasant to hear and unpleasant to see.”
The truck left a string of bodies in its wake
Mr Cueva, seeing the terrorist’s intentions, drove directly into his path, but claims he did not feel as though he
was putting his life at risk.
He said: “I was not scared. It was actually a strange feeling when it happened. The lorry was coming towards me
and all my focus was on helping protect people in some way. So I drove my van in front of it in order to stop it
    from getting any further.”
The security truck driver has no doubt the attacker was about to crash into parliament and could have killed
hundreds more en route, as people lined Drottninggatan street, which leads up to the imposing building. …
“I don’t consider myself as a hero. It was my duty. I was wearing a uniform and people look up to someone who
    wears a uniform.
“Not in the same way as a policeman, but they listened to me when I told them to leave.
“At least it feels good that I tried to do something about it.

For heroes, a uniform is what you’re wearing at the time.
Mr. Ceuvo should be invited to apply for the police service, armed forces or militia/reserve.
He’s already the citizen soldier, and Sweden needs all the heroes she can muster.

  8. Appears all those suffering from TDS, Trump Derangement Syndrome, would prefer to leave the evil dictators of the world alone to do their thing at home and threaten the world at large. ASSad and creepy Little Kimmie with supporting parts going to Russia and Iran must be left alone, we must not ever attack them in any way unless we go through all protocol and warn them of our plans through media across the globe.
If we had the media coverage we have today during the first and second world wars plus the rampant stupidity more prevalent than ever before,we never would have won those wars at any cost.

  9. I watched some of CTV’s coverage of the Vimy Ridge ceremony yesterday. Twice in the lead-up to Trudeau’s speech, Lisa Laflamme said it would be “powerful”. The text of the speech was okay, but as always Trudeaus performance was over the top. My question is: Why use the word powerful? It definitely wasn’t used for Harper, but it also wasn’t used for Martin, Chretien, Mulroney etc.

  10. “On Truth”
“When political commentators talk of the emergence of a post-truth world, they are really lamenting the end of an era when the truths promoted by the institutions of the state and media were rarely challenged. It’s a lament that’s been coming for a few years now.”

  11. “The fool bongo suggested the Americans called him to advise of the impending missile attack. Bullshit. They know full well that if he knew he would immediately notify his muzzie buds or the Intel would be intercepted by a muzzie embedded in the PMO.”
Whatever else they might be, Islamic extremists are no fans of Assad; far from it.
Even supposing a “muzzie bud” (as you so charmingly put it) did get wind of the attack, it’s hard to believe they’d want to warn the Syrian government.

  12. “I watched some of CTV’s coverage of the Vimy Ridge ceremony yesterday…”
CTV News always seems to me like the CBC’s less bright little brother. If you think the copy churned out by CBC high school co-op programme hacks is tedious, the stuff CTV pumps out borders on just plain gruesome.

  13. Wrt the Vimy memorial.
When the p/t drama teacher is disgourging from his template just put the speakers on mute and it sounds 100% better.
From the clip the media wants to promulgate as the moment that was to be the one for posterity it was something about how everybody at the battle was there to achieve peace.
Now I’m certainly no history teacher…not even a part time one, but I seem to recall another speech by an old general that had fought in many campaigns including in WWI. That old general gave his particular speech prior to the Dday invasion. In that speech the general regaled the assembled that in war you don’t look to “peace”, you fight to achieve victory. Once the war begins its an admission that diplomatic pursuits have failed and achieving peace won’t happen until one side surrenders unconditionally. Juthtin nor his father understood this and the persistent belief they held/hold is that wars are started due to western imperialism, So any conflict must be fought reluctantly with a readiness to hold fire even if the enemy comes in bad faith. Ironically, not since the end of WWII there has not been a decisive conclusion to a conflict. Since the creation of the UN conflicts have persisted over the world as those with the ability to conclude them have been restrained by the useful idiocy advocated by the likes of juthtin and his father.
As far as the significance of Vimy, the sea change from it was those in command finally grasped the futility of entrenched warfare and saw the advantage of mobility. Remember, Pierre studied law and juthtin studied drama, neither studied military history let alone Canada’s. That doesn’t make him stupid, just ignorant of the significance of that battle and that it was the “colonials” that showed the experts how to win a battle they saw as unwinnable. From that moment on we earned a seat at the adults table, this is the same table that unless we increase our defence spending to the agreed 2% of GDP, we won’t be at for much longer.
Thats the fact that juthtin and his cheering section seem to keep ignoring or are ignorant of.

  15. There is rumor of a Black OPS called “Triple EL Dorado Canyon” that involves Assad, Putin & Kim and the christening of F35’s… High probability of getting 2 out of the 3

  16. Quite simply, Trump taught Trudeau a lesson in irrelevance — Trudeau’s on the world stage. Trudeau was the guy, after all, who arbitrarily put an end to Canada’s contribution to Syrian airstrikes and pulled our CF-18s back home.
Trudeau is the “leader” who thinks you can solve any prickly foreign affairs problem with enough humanitarian aid and goodwill.
He is the statesman who denies Canada is at war with ISIL or radical Islamic terrorism but is engaged in a life-or-death struggle with climate change.

  18. Hey Everybody Look at Me, Look at Me !
He’s beginning to remind me of the character described in Carly Simon’s song You’re So Vain.

  19. “It saddens me to think those were made when History Television was still worth viewing. I haven’t looked at that channel in years.”
    I couldn’t agree more.

  20. Dem fake news: “We are 100% sure we got rid of all the chemical weapons, notwithstanding that we were obviously lyin through our teeth.”
    Aka, standard operating procedure:
“There was the lie about the video being responsible for a spontaneous attack in Benghazi because of a YouTube video trailer for a lousy movie, the lie that the Iran deal includes inspections, snap backs and it delays a possible Iranian nuclear weapon for much more than the actual ten years, and speaking of Iran there was the lie that he didn’t pay a ransom for the hostages, but most relevant for recent news was the lie that Syria gave up all of its chemical weapons in 2013-they didn’t, he knew they didn’t, but bragged how successful his negotiated settlement was anyway.”
Did the Obama Administration know that such depots still existed after its “historic” deal that supposedly removed all Syria’s chemical weapons?”
The signs point to YES. In Congressional testimony last February, Obama’s Director of National Intelligence James Clapper acknowledged “gaps and inconsistencies in Syria’s declaration,” validating reports that Syria was still hiding banned chemicals at undisclosed locations.”
Therefore while President Obama, Secretary of State Kerry, and of course the Obama Administration’s designated liar Susan Rice were telling America that their wonderful negotiations worked and all of Syria’s chemical weapons were destroyed– James Clapper and documented chlorine attacks proved they were lying.”
But six months after Clapper’s testimony, in the August 2016 issue of the Atlantic,  Obama’s designated foreign policy water carrier Jeffrey Goldberg, did his duty and wrote an article praising Obama’s decision to ignore his “red line” to punish the Assad regime if it ever used chemical weapons.”
The liberal Politifact backed away from its earlier claim that Kerry’s 2014 statement “we got 100 percent of the chemical weapons out,” was mostly true.”
Like Benghazi, the Iran Deal, and the Iran ransom, the deal to get rid of Syria’s chemical weapons was a scam. Syria never got rid of all of its chemical weapons and the Obama administration knew all along.  Except most of them lied about it.”

  21. The point I was making is that Trump has no reason to trust bongo and his government. I don’t believe for one second that the Americans called and gave him or someone in his government a heads up. Have you heard this claim from any other world leader? It’s fiction.
Trump wouldn’t take a chance on a leak by informing another world leader that there was an imminent missile attack. The generals he has surrounded himself with are humourless when it comes to this.

  22. What likely happened was a staff member in the State department “on behalf of the Secretary” notified the POC with the various members of NATO.
So the MoD can say he was contacted by “the Secretary of Defense”.
Trump and his administration made the measure of juthtin long before his first visit to the WH.
The relevant get an invite to Mar a Largo, all others get a phone call from an assistant under secretary.
